I had a great day yesterday.  It was my birthday.  I played golf with my regular Tuesday/Thursday guys group.  I didn't play particularly well but still managed to shoot a decent score thanks to doing a lot of scrambling around the greens and a couple of birdies.  I came home and watched the US Open on TV for a couple of hours.  We then went to our club for wine tasting from 5-6 and followed that with dinner at the fancier restaurant in our ocean clubhouse.  The view is great.

I don't normally do food porn as I usually eat before remembering to take a picture, but I remembered this time.  Our club does a good job with celebrations.  They started us with a couple of glasses of champagne and then a small bite from the chef.  It was some sort of tuna concoction on a small piece of brioche bread and topped with a bit of caviar.  Very tasty.  There may also be an Old Fashioned in the picture. 😉

We both ordered the grilled romaine salad to start.  I had the seared halibut for my main.  The fish was cooked perfectly, and the mushroom risotto was excellent.  Micheline had a salmon dish that was also great, although I did miss getting a picture of that one.

We were pretty stuffed at that point, but they brought out a happy birthday piece of key lime pie...one of my favorites.  After the dessert, they wouldn't let us go without a couple of small macarons and chocolate ball things. (and finally monsieur, a wafer thin mint).

We made it back to the house and worked off all of that food by sitting and watching a couple of episodes of Stranger Things season 4.  We're enjoying season 4.

Because my birthday and Father's Day are so close, sometimes even the same day, Micheline usually turns it into a birthday/Father's Day weekend.  The US Open golf tournament is always on Father's Day weekend so a good part of my time through Sunday will be watching golf.  It's my favorite tournament to watch, followed by the Masters and The Open (aka The British Open).  We were thinking of doing something outside on Saturday but the high temp is supposed to be 96F.  We might just stay in the house with the A/C on full blast.

Happy belated birthday.

@bobmacliberty belated Happy Birthday wishes!  In your honor, I’ll be experimenting with the Turtle Krawl  recipe tonight. I didn’t see anything labeled Bacardi Silver at the liquor store, so I’m hoping the Bacardi Superior shown here will suffice (it has a small silver label so..).
I also spotted several bottles of Pusser’s Rum.
We’re celebrating Father’s Day tomorrow (so it’s mandatory that I nail down the Turtle Krawl recipe tonight 🤣), then our granddaughters will spend the night because our middle DD & SIL have tickets to the US Open for Sunday.
Thanks also for the Crunch Lab recommendation, my 10 yr old grandson would love that. We call him “the tinkerer”.

@bobmacliberty Happy Belated birthday.  Looks like you celebrated in style!

Weather here continues to be high 90s turning to hundreds (105, 106) on Sunday. the traditional Father's Day bbq. day.

Hope Dani met up with Sue and met Captain Kate by now and that all are having a spectacular cruise.

Pain is getting more and more manageable.  Part of my PT today was getting in and out  of the car, no easy feat using only 1 leg but I did it!

Was just looking at Dani roll call she said the ship Beyond was beautiful but with no soul . Agree be nice if she meet captain Kate and her cat .

My thinking is that you are younger than me.

I actually believe that I look a lot younger.People seem to think that I am in my 50’s.A few weeks ago I posted my e-mail address and said that if anyone wants to see a picture of me and my grand dogs they can e-mail me .Several people responded and I sent them pictures.

@bobmaclibertyCheers for celebrating your B day in style! Your birthday dinner photos caught my eye.

Graham- Another yummy looking dinner. The mixed grill looks something like what we call a Full English Breakfast- is that so ?

We used to go  out to lunch and dinner more often before Covid. Now,we go out once or twice a week. By my calculations, I think I have made over 700 dinners !!! I am not sure who is worse for that- me planning and cooking the meals or my hubby who has to eat my cooking!😉

Bonnie- Great that you managed getting in and out of the car today !

Ladies like us need our wheels- even if someone needs to drive us. That will be only temporary for you  though ! Keep up the good work!

Update on the refrigerator. Service man must have had the easiest call today with our situation.

Apparently, the notice that pops up on the panel in orange is an alert to order a filter. When it needs to be replaced (6 months) the notice will appear in red. 🙄

My hubby is a stickler for doing everything by the book and we were replacing the filter more often than necessary.

Solution is to hit reset when the notice appears in orange and replace every 6 months. Duly noted.

Eagle Beach is only maybe ten minutes tops from the cruise port.  There's a good parking lot area there.

Here are a couple pics from my spot on the beach last month, view right, middle, and left:

That looks like a good beach choice.   ⛱️  I can see us choosing it.  Thanks for the pics.

The only place for sure we plan check out is the restaurant that was mentioned here awhile back.  It sounds like good food with a great view.  How far is Eagle Beach from the port.  I always believe if a person will go back to a beach, it has to be good enough to try.  We have never tried it yet but our cruise partners and us have talked about renting  a Jeep at other stops but have not tried it yet

Expand

Since we walk a lot, the last two times we were there, we walked to Eagle Beach.  It is about 3 miles, or a 50 minute walk.   It is a very nice beach to enjoy a beach day, but things are a little more expensive there.  Think of many Caribbean ports where you can get a couple loungers and umbrella for $20-$25, and they throw in a drink or two.   At Eagle, tow loungers and umbrella run $40 at one stand and $50 at the one next to it.

After walking a bunch in Alaska,  that sounds like a reasonable walk.  The loungers and umbrella are a bit higher but hey, it's a vacation!

It has been a hot and humid day today 80°F on the North East coast of England.

We are sitting outside eating dinner.

Pauline had Scampi and chips and I had a mixed grill.

Pretty much the whole plate is questionable for heart conditions.  🤣

Who wants to live forever anyway?  I can’t really tease, based on my own less than optimal lifestyle.

You did a great job with the food pics.  Looks great. My younger brother's birthday is Dec. 23rd.  There were times, when young, he got a bigger birthday/Christmas gift.  It was soon realized he enjoyed two smaller separate gifts.

We have soooo many March family birthdays that I am pretty much banned to mention a cruise in March.

Happy Birthday.   Glad you are enjoying.

It's going to be a hot one here too!    Temps to be in the 90s and not much of any breeze (hoping there will be some relief on the beach).   We are doing some work online and plan on heading to beach around 11 or 12.      Tomorrow should be low 70's.

It's been in the mid to upper 90's all week here.  My DD pointed out that Sunday it will cool down to just 90⁰.  Next week it's forecast to hit 102⁰.

Normally, when we have a trip planned, I start to get excited about it as we are pulling out of the driveway.   With as hot as it is I am starting to get a little excited to leaving next Friday.   We will be headed to Lakeside Ohio again.   Looking forward to that evening breeze off of the lake!

Lenny- I watched a PBS program,American Masters, about Brian Wilson a few days ago. I found it interesting as I liked the Beach Boys in high school and had a boyfriend that surfed off of Lido Beach who liked their music as well. I didn’t realize the extent of his  musical talent. He has lived a difficult life, but he continues to compose music and perform live in concerts.

I have heard his story before.  Great talent.   My sister loved the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean. She had a lot of albums of them.  For awhile in the 60's we had a Cabin Cruiser that we spent almost every summer weekend on.  While driving to and from the lake the radio played a lot of the Beach Boys music.  Great memories.

Thank you all again.  Lenny...you're just slightly off.  I'm 61, although (most days) I feel like I'm 47.  Every now and then, after playing golf or doing too much physical work in the yard/house, my true age shines through.

My much younger wife turns 61 in July, she is in a great shape she works out at camp gladiator 4 times a week at 5 am , I wake up at 9. Here is a picture from last year of her 600th workout.

Of one my nieces was at a beach boys concert last year and she was interested on stage . Loved Brian Wilson bio on pbs , he is a amazing artist. I often play beach boys CDs while I am in the pool. Favorite song , which was not a hit when it came out is “ God only knows “ there is a great new video of that on YouTube with loads of stars including Elton John along with a symphony.

Prior to Jan and Dean it was Jan and Arnie. I don’t know if any of their music is on You Tube but if you never heard them you might want to check them out.

Thank you.

We just came up from beach to get some snacks.     Quite nice on the beach today with a nice breeze.    Mix of sun and clouds to keep us from overheating.    Ocean is way too cold for even my feetsies.

My youngest daughter who likes the same kind of music as I do,Classic Rock has been to concerts all over the world .

She is the only person I know who has been to more concerts than I have.

She just informed me that she and a friend are flying to the UK to see a concert and flying home the next day. That is something that I never did .I saw a concert once in Canada but did not know that I would be going to see it until I got there.I also went to the Fillmore West but did not know that I would be till being there.

Wow, I didn't know that.

I know all the really obscure groups. The only person who also knows them is DaveKathy who posts on this thread and my friend Elliot who is in a NY band .In 1980 I took my then 6 year old daughter to see a group that was a No hit wonder called Once Again .They were playing in a music venue in NYC.I tried to get her interested in Classic Rock but she never cared for that .My younger daughter is into Classic Rock and Heavy Metal.

I did not know there were still Beach Boys concerts.   We saw them in 80's at Mud Island and thought that was a late date for there concerts.  John Stamos was with them.  At the time I didn't know he was a musician.

I liked the song too.  Different style compared to some of their more popular music.
