More cruises canceled?

If they cancel May cruises, we will be three for three on cancellations.

I just spoke to a very close friend of over 30 years who has worked for Carnival for 25 (I am a past crew member as well), she says they were informed yesterday nothing until 5/12/2020.  They can book 5/12 and later in their system. (As of today).  She said the website has been having problems, but she can book 5/12 and beyond

GEEEEESH ! the more and more I see about these cruise cancelling the last minute, the more I'm concerned about my Aug.15th cruise.

I just tried to book a May cruise on Carnival site. May is blocked, can't pick a May date. Wonder when we will get our notice about May cruises being cancelled. Have a May 17th cruise date.

I don't understand why people are booking May cruises. The pandemic hasn't even reached anywhere near a peak in the US. It's going to be months yet before we see the case curve start to move downward.

I agree.  Sometimes I wonder if they are booking with the hope of getting a windfall OBC on a future booking when the next extension of cancellations is announced.

 

Our late March cruise was cancelled and it was no picnic dealing with it.   Our September cruise was booked last October and I am worried that it too will be cancelled.

Are you meaning May 21 as there certainly will not be any cruises departing anywhere during May 20.

 

Until there is a working vaccine in place there will be a total of zero cruises sailing.

I just searched all sailings for the month of May and it's showing no availability until June.  Looks like they're going to extend it again.

What good will OBC be if they file for bankruptcy? They are enticing people to book and put deposits down.

 

Let them have your money in this uncertain time. Not a good investment.

I'm booked end of May on Sunrise and I hope it sails from NYC as planned.      

 

I've accepted that it's a wait and see at this point, and that's ok because there's nothing I can do about it.

Here's more speculation, but what if they pulled the bookings so the first few sailings are not at capacity to "comply" with recommendations? I use those terms loosely.

im booked on the Sunrise May 25th as well.  Just talked to my PVP and she said they haven’t cancelled yet, but it was not looking good. I’m actually booked on B2B with the June 3rd Sunrise cruise too.

Interesting point.  We have one booked for Oct..and DH said that they'd still need "gathering places" (theatre, casino, restaurants) closed because of too many people.  If that is the case, who would want to cruise anyway?

 

Being realistic....I don't see my Oct (from NYC) cruise happening.  But, then again, in February, I didn't see "this" happening.  As in Stephen King etc novels...."the dreaded disease left just as quickly as it came" (wishful thinking).

I'm booked on the June 6th Magic sailing. It is no longer bookable on Carnival's website. The only Magic sailing in June that's listed is June 28th. Additionally the cruise is NOT accessible under Manage my bookings and there is no trace of my booking.

I'm book on the June 12 Liberty sailing, not showing up anymore as available to book, but still in my "manage" folder. Guess they'll still take my money lol! Just notify me that's it's canceled so we can make alternate plans!

I'm starting to regain a smidge of hope (we're booked for 6/20 out of Galveston, rebooked from 4/4) and thinking *maybe* this could explain it.  There are some, albeit very few, cruises available throughout June; though many are at the tail end of the month, not all are.  There appears to be no rhyme or reason to the what's available or not though most are short 3-4-5 dayers they are from various US ports.  Also, there's been no new cancellations announced this week, from Carnival or anyone else.  It's a longshot, I know, but maybe they're not ready to cancel June quite yet.

 I have a question. I am scheduled to cruise on June 1st with my husband and his parents. They are really worried about traveling this close to the pandemic. We are wanting to try and reschedule. Is that possible? Can you reschedule a cruise before they cancel it? If so how do I go about doing this? This is their first cruise and I don’t want them to spend it worrying or scared.

If you can hold out until the cruise line cancels you will probably make out better. I'm pretty sure June 1st will get cancelled.

I've checked 1 cruise lines and the earliest you can book a cruise in June is the 27th and 28th. 

If your not comfortable waiting call and ask them to change you to a different date.
