Yep he specifically excluded China operations from the July 31 pause. So they could do some Asia sailings without worry of that -  though I don't know if the long arm of the CDC start up rules could prove some type of problem, even in Asia.  If not, I guess I wouldn't be surprised if they trial something in Asia, even before the US, especially if Genting starts back up.

We are set to cruise on her the day you get back.  Our theory was short cruises to both private islands, RCCL can control the conditions better and no need to go into countries that may not be ready.  I’m not an expert but I hope I’m right this time.

Genting's Dream cruises often has 2-3 night (mostly for gambling) itineraries that make up a good 30-40% (possibly even more) of their sailings out of Singapore. They are reported to start sailing in July, the last time I read an update somewhere. So, I don't think it'll require a significant change to their business in carrying this strategy out for a longer term, if that was what they were already heavily promoting before cruising stopped. July sailings are still available for booking, I believe the 1st of July is when they plan to come back.

In response to a question, Fain said in an interview that the big ships are a lot more efficient to operate and affords better social distancing. He did not say that he was going to operate the Oasis class ships.

 

But I suspect that govt regulations may push them in that direction. And they could save on fuel if they just did short hops to the bahamas and coco cay (vs. an eastern or western caribbean itinerary).

Am I understanding correctly that ships will cruise from Florida first?  I am booked on the Oasis out of Cape Liberty in Bayonne, NJ on October 18.   The ports are Port Canaveral, Coco Cay, & Nassau.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that one.

I'm no expert but from what was said at the Q1 earnings call and the CNBC interview, it appears the target would be the "drive" markets first, starting with Asia on short itineraries.  The larger ships with lower break even points will likely be utilized on the first go round.

We have the same itinerary booked for August 3 and again September 28, with the intention of sailing only once.  Hoping to sail on August 3 and cancel September 28, as August was a casino-comped cruise.  Plus we would rather go sooner than later.

Royal has added new/more Quantum sailings out of Singapore as early as October and November 2020. Previously Quantum would only be available for booking from January 2021. Looks like they are ready to start sailing out of Asia soon!

I'm pretty shore the only G20 country that loves cruising & has lifted a-lot of restrictions; & is beating the Virus. Only 103 deaths out of 26 million & only 9,000 that have come down with it...

Australia... Plus we have the world's best port.. SYDNEY... Be back either Sept 17 or October 15th...

We are booked  for same itinerary but 9/19/2020.  We chose this one thinking, the ports are both RCCL owned properties.  They would be able to secure it and not  have to deal with other ports outside their control.  

I hope our reasoning is correct, but who knows?

We are also going to be on that cruise.  I am still hopeful this will take place, as its just basically their private islands.  We are really looking forward to it - been on Indy a couple of times and love the ship.  We will see how many people are actually on this cruise.

We booked that same cruise for 8/3/20.  I think it is a perfect Itin to start things up again - hopefully we get to go!

We have a 7 day booked on Symphony of the Seas Aug. 29, 2020 out of Miami.....hoping thats a go! That ship should be big enough to social distance 🙂

Sometimes the night before departure.
They throw the bags in the car and go...2-3 sailings a month.

And they are not unusual. All their friends do the same and they meet up on the ship.

 

And yes, they are Pinnacle.

People I know live on the Florida coast between Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale.

They are from NJ and retired to Florida. We met as table mates on a cruise, turns out they are from our home town in NJ

Not sure what the new health protocols will be, but are there any hospitals near the RCI facilities?  Could be a factor.

I'm on the 8/30 Oasis and I do believe they'll cancel it. You might be okay in October though depending how things are going. Wish that RCL would cancel cruises more in advance.
