DEVINA COMING TO PORT CANAVERAL SUMMER 2021

Driving from the North,  VA-GA and departing from PC will save hours of drive time.  Once you get south of Stuart , Fl the traffic is horrendous.

This will be a huge plus for most people who drive to the port.

Flying into and out of MLB will be a breeze since it is a smaller regional airport that accommodates any size plane.

Our TA is waiting for the Summer 2021 itineraries so we can book a few cruises out of PC.

Do you think the itinerary will be similar?

No idea, but this is our first MSC cruise so itinerary isn’t the most important to us...it’s all about checking out the line at this point. :)

We drive down from N.C., so this cuts off several hours for us!

DIVINA is a beautiful ship, we have been on her three times.

We have run the gamut on Princess, Grand Suites, Carnaval Top Suites, RCL Royal Suites and Celebrity Penthouse Suites and overall enjoyed the total YC experience more than any previous cruises.  The Top Sail Lounge bests any competitors Suite Lounge that we have sailed on.  Devina is a great ship, just the right size.  We are not fans of the huge mega ships.

The pianos in the RCL and X venues were nice furniture pieces but unneeded.  I think the new renovations have eliminated the pianos.

The Devina in PC will save us hours of RT driving from the north. Kudos to MSC.

As we confirm our new Spring - Fall 2021 cruises, it has resulted in the need for MSC Cruises to cancel some previously scheduled itineraries from
March - October 2021. These cancellations include:

MSC Armonia - all cruises from Tampa, Florida from May 2 - October 31, 2021
MSC Divina - all cruises from Miami, Florida from March 28 - August 22, 2021
MSC Divina - all cruises from New York from September 3 - October 23, 2021

I'm a little confused by the March 28 date for Divina.  She has 7 and 18 night sailings departing Miami on March 26 that are still open for booking.  Has anyone on those March 26 sailings received an itinerary change notice?  Also confusing is that the second leg starting April 2nd is also still bookable as an 11 night.  Perhaps an itinerary change ending in PC for those sailings?

You missed the point.  Ship name is DIVINA, not Devina!  EM

Hate to see it is 3, 4 and 7 day cruises, I love the longer ones and just where do you go for 3 days out of PC?

We, too, do not like short cruises, even if we string a number of them together.  It's just a different atmosphere with passengers coming and going.

However, if it means time at Ocean Cay, we will book in a flash.  Little to no interest in most of the Caribbean or Bahamas islands, but we would gladly do Ocean Cay multiple times, or overnight.

Don't feel bad. They were about to have me sign a contract for 220 cabins.

Holistic Holidays skirted disaster.  I wonder if MSC did that intentionally?

ETA: I guess you're going to have to change your web page again, what a mess.

Takes a few cruises to learn the spelling.  Thanks for the correction.

Took many cruises to get  "Silhouette" but it all comes to fruition eventually.

Divina.

If it wasn't for spellcheck/auto correct, everyone would get Meraviglia wrong. :classic_biggrin:

Unfortunately at my age, I d never figure that spelling out or the pronunciation out.

The Crew all week said DE Venia.  So, thats how I got the DE.

BUT live and learn.

Divina

Now that Devina is in the "subject" of this post it will remain there forever - oh dear - but by now hopefully we all all know it's DIVINA. Several hours ago in my post I was trying to nicely point out the correct spelling!

Yes.  Ocean Cay is different and if MSC continues to develop it, as I think it is their plan to do, its potential will only increase.

MSC sailing from Port Canaveral will be more attractive to me than sailing from Miami.  Particularly, if the itinerary is a mid-week one when some of the other "apartments of the seas" are not in port.  Even if a mid-week sailing would be a short one, that would encourage a b2b2b or more b2b's for this cruiser.

I believe the sheer shady-ness of what has happened to us Tri-State people is being overlooked. Many of us cruise from NY because it is a short drive to the pier, so why fly to Florida and add expense. Some of us cruise from NY out of not wanting to fly (my wife is terrified of it and that’s not a way to enjoy a “vacation”)

We had all our 2020 cruises cancelled, albeit and understandably beyond MSC’s control, on Monday. We were offered FCC or refund in 60 days. So we called and many Transferred their deposits to the 2021 cruises leaving from NY. Personally, I cancelled a few days earlier as I knew Canada was closing its ports and requested a refund that will take 60 days.

So on Monday/Tuesday they took our money for cruises in 2021 that literally, 2 days later, were cancelled as the ships were moved to Port Canaveral and Miami. You know damn well it doesn’t take 2 days to make such a decision and work out the logistics. So basically, MSC was taking our money knowing there was no way the cruise was taking place.

So again, me personally, MSC essentially has a $400 60 day interest free loan from our deposit For our Oct 2020 cruise. On Monday, I booked a 2021 Divina cruise and put down Another $400 deposit. A cruise that when I booked it, was already never going to occur. So now they have a 2nd $400 interest free loan that I won’t be able to get back my money for 60 days, even though they accepted it under completely false pretense only 2 days prior.

And the kicker....MSC has pretty much decided to stop cruising from NY altogether. So as a family that will not fly, and had 2 cruises booked in the next 2 years....we now have none booked with no ability to do so as they no longer sail from NY, and they have $800 of my money I need to wait 2 months to get back...IF they even refund it in the time frame they say.

So while I hope everyone Enjoys Port Canaveral as a home port. Personally MSC lost a customer with some super shady (I want to use another S word) tactics.

It's scheduled to be in Miami during Fall 2021, so unless they also cancel/move that I doubt it.  Wonder if MSC is just going to be done with NY?  Not worth the trouble

I don't think MSC is done with NYC in the long term, but for 2021 NYC is a wild card. The leaders there are not going to welcome cruise ships anytime soon and will likely be one of the last to open up to cruises. Rumor has it that Hawaii is staying closed to cruising through fall of 2021 also and then you have tiny Seachelles opening in Jan 2022!

I do expect that MSC will end up back in NYC eventually. It's a lucrative market. I also expect changes to the new itineraries coming out. For example, MSC pulled all ships from NYC for fall of 2021, but what if by spring of 2021 things start looking spectacular. Would NOT surprise me one bit to see itinerary changes right up to a few months before sailing through 2021. Lots of flexibility is going to be needed for the industry to realign.

I'm just sitting here waiting for the last minute deals to start rolling in........because they are most certainly coming.

So what will happen now with regards to its reposition to Florida which is due in Jan? Or is the ship currently in US waters and will be staying there?

I have the 23 night Repo booked and have noticed that is no longer on sale.

To replace NYC sailings, we would love to have MSC sail out of the Port of Baltimore.  Easy drive from many population centers in the northeast, easy access for driving and from BWI International airport.

Why do you think this?

For this Ohioan, a trip to Baltimore would be shorter than a trip to Florida for any the ports.  I have sailed from Baltimore on Carnival Pride and it was an excellent easy arrival, embarkation, disembarkation, and departure.  But, could any of the MSC ships even reach Baltimore?  (There's a bridge, you know, across Chesapeake Bay that could be an issue.)  Why not Norfolk as a MSC port?  Nice terminal that is very much underused, easy access to/from the Atlantic with the route being scenic.  Given the size of MSC's ships, traffic congestion in the vicinity of the Terminal and parking might be a couple of negatives, however.

@rkacruiser I book thru MSC casino and I spoke w my casino rep on the phone after the cancellation. When they were told of the announcement, they were also told that MSC has no plans of sailing from NYC in 2020 or 2021. I have a 30% casino voucher that he allowed me to move until dec 31 2021 Incase things change but more than likely that is wasted.
