I agree with you. People can protest and gather in large groups, but yet I am told I cannot go on a cruise ship.  What buffet restaurant on land makes everyone wash their hands before going to the buffet.  What hotels do you see people in the public areas constantly cleaning.  I have been on over 30 cruises, never gotten sick.  I faithfully wash my hands.  I agree with your opinion, we are not telling people to go on a cruise, they do not have to go, but I am told I cannot go on a cruise because I may make them sick.  Please tell that to all the people I see out and about going on with their lives, should we all just lockdown, that isn't healthy, either emotionally or physically.   I am 73 and cruising is my enjoyment in my remaining years, I hope I can cruise again soon.   We need to go on living not waiting and worrying about dying, no one is leaving this world alive.

Protesting in large groups out in the open outdoors with room to roam and walk is very much different than a large group confined to a ship with indoor spaces.  Besides, we've seen what happens when we try and stop these protests.  On the other hand, I don't see large mobs gathering to demand to board a cruise ship.

Anyone can get it. It's real. People are dying or having long term health consquences. More people will die with folk not believing, not wearing masks, not social distancing. Sometimes it takes being affected personally for folk to be convinced. I don't wish that on anyone.

This is point on. Everything else you just wasted your time typing as it has been repeated verbatim and people just won't accept it 6 months into the pandemic after seeing results of places that have complied with CDC recommendations. I commend the cruise lines that were brave enough to start up early. It proved that it's too soon to allow cruising. I may have missed it but I didn't see any media hype covering the story of the cruise ship covid cases. I received the information on CC. Maybe the media hype only played out in Europe.

The thing we all have in common is our passion for cruising.  I should be packing right now for our flight to Venice and eventually hop on the Edge in Rome for a Greek Isles cruise.  Discouraging to say the least that a cruise out of Norway, a country that seemed to have things under control would have so many positive cases.  Hoping for some better news from the cruises out of Germany.  Emphasizes the challenges that the cruise ship industry faces in attempting to provide a safe environment to its crew and passengers.

Other cruise lines are trying.

FYI- Aida Cruises' previous plan was to start test voyages with AIDAmar and AIDAblu last week, however, they were postponed because ten crew members who were scheduled to join the ships tested positive for COVID-19, and later another case amount the crew was detected.

Stop the shouting!  This is old news... from before COVID-19.

Indeed, it has nothing to do with Coronavirus.  Please stop passing along RW talking points and stop the insulting large print which simply makes you look small!

Indeed, nothing to do with the Rona, but it does reinforce the rampant fraud on the reporting and money side of big medicine. Isn't that what @Wine-O was eluding to.

Didn't realize Bloomberg was RW

He's not shouting.  He's just providing proof you and someone else asked regarding fraud.  If you think there is no COVID-19 fraud, I don't think anyone can help you, but I do have some swamp land in LA that I would like to sell you.   😵🍷

Based on the OP, I assume he means Right Wing

RW is a hockey term.

In any case, I have seen many post that hospitals falsely labeled people as COVID-19 to receive an increased pay rate from the government.

I have an open mind and would love to see some proof of that claim.  So far, I have seen none.

What are Hockey talking points then?

FWIW, I really wasn't responding to you. Others mentioned that fraud doesn't exist in the medical community. That just isn't the case.

Yes, fraud exists almost everywhere when money is involved.  Sure some fraud exists in the medical community.

But...

My question is specifically to those who claim that hospitals falsely labeled people as COVID-19 to receive an increased pay rate from the government.

I do know this. Not permitted to share the document, but many hospitals who received Long Term Care patients who were positive and now are stable, can’t send them back to the LTC facilities.  They are getting paid for this service. Not sure it fits your criteria or not.

Not really.  What you describe is seems to be a requirement, not fraud.  Good info though!

If vaccines become mandatory to cruise  This will be another blow for cruise lines  A lot of people do not trust vaccines

I had a mild flu response over 30 years ago but I have never had a flu vaccine. Having said that, I will be first in line for the Covid vaccine. The quicker we achieve herd immunity from Covid, the quicker we can go back to a normal life, including being able to cruise and have normal sports with fans in the stands. We need to achieve herd immunity to get the economy back to normal. A vaccine is necessary to achieve herd immunity safely. I surely hope those who are anti-vaccine will look at the big picture with this Covid disease.

the virus will run out of people to infect

You are referring to "herd immunity". Without a vaccine, when we reach herd immunity in America, many more people will die. Those people will not have to die if we reach herd immunity with a vaccine.

Ok. A little experience here.  Some hospitals are required to see what is called “self pay” which really means no insurance so typically “no pay”. Doctors with privileges must see these patients. Those that are positive or show symptoms, even if the underlying reason for treatment is not COVID19,  are considered a COVID19 patient for payment purposes.

Not sure you will be satisfied with this but can’t disclose anymore.

Quoting myself here.........not to mention, getting back to cruising. We need herd immunity to do that. More people who receive the vaccine, herd immunity can be achieved. It is a very personal decision to receive the vaccine, I understand that. When the time comes, make your decision and know why you have made that decision.

A vaccine is absolutely needed to reach herd immunity.  I agree completely.  But they have no idea how many people have been infected thus far and I believe we are further along than most people believe.  Vast majority are asymptomatic
