I go the daily spa thing on the breeze last December just to use the thalassotherapy pool and heated loungers. so since the spa rooms come with it- bonus. You could be right, I've never had cheers but always had a welcome aboard drink out of Galveston, and that evening they do liquor tasting. New Orleans does not. There might be a law people dodge about taxes until the ship .eaves the dock, and until the ship hits international waters, some beers and drinks limited but you hit international waters by 7 pm or 8 pm. Idk why you cant do cheers but can drink first day out of Galveston? Edited December 7, 2020 by firefly333

Especially since we're currently booked under a casino rate which has DOU for both + casino $$, and we have the $600 OBC because it's a rebooked cruise. When the casino pays for your cruise, how will they recover the cost if U refuse to play in the casino?

Idk why you cant do cheers but can drink first day out of Galveston? It's because of Texas law regarding taxes on alcohol sales. Carnival limits the types of drinks available for the first day, and starts Cheers on Day 2 (and you pay for one day less as a result for the package). Any drinks you order on Day 1 are a la carte. EDIT: and the alcohol containers for drinks sold on Day 1 are segregated from the alcohol used for the rest of the cruise. Tax stamps etc. New York has the same thing going on. Alcohol I buy in onboard shops, is cheaper here than onboard, and now Galveston had like a 2.50 a bottle tax. I bought 2 expensive scotches and 2 cheaper last time. And didnt have all this obc, and then found out about the new tax per bottle. Used to be 1 bottle not taxed, Galveston keeps getting worse on taxes. Cigarettes taxed but no limit on cigars lol (not me, I buy them for friends). But getting off subject. Drinks, ok, yes I knew there was a law what could be served first day out of Galveston but I've always been ala carte.
ronkeykong Posted December 7, 2020 #185 Share Posted December 7, 2020 Okay, so just checking in.... RU2 showed up in my offers this weekend; haven't seen an email though. I've been looking at the early November and late January Galveston 4 day cruises for quite awhile. The price changes for November on this offer (interior / spa interior) are both $40 per person and loss of the onboard credit (which I believe is $25 at this time). I haven't contacted anyone to ask (complain) about not receiving this offer previously, but was perturbed by it. Still can't beat the < $500 cost I had booked for next January (again, 4 days) for 2 people in a spa balcony cabin, with $600 OBC. We'll never get that again!! Thanks. 1
mnp75 Posted December 8, 2020 #186 Share Posted December 8, 2020 I just noticed the Drink Offer today. It looked to be about $130 PP more than the lower rates. Cruise needed to be booked for April-Dec 2021, if I remember correctly. Let's see what I can find with the lowest deposit possible.
Cruisesfun65 Posted December 8, 2020 #187 Share Posted December 8, 2020 This might have been mentioned, but can someone tell me if we have to pay 18% gratuities on this deal? Or are they included?
stellarose Posted December 8, 2020 #188 Share Posted December 8, 2020 I will ask my TA. I believe we just paid the extra 200. that might have been the gratuity. since the rest of the package was "free".

Going all the way through the payment page, there was no 18% of $52 x #days extra charge.

I didn't know that before. Unless that's only the offer they are giving me. We booked January 2022 before the offer and aren't changing it. I just like to talk about cruising again. Only difference is the spa amenities you'll receive. On the Dream class the 6S spa ocean view cabins are huge. But other than that, no difference. I booked our first Spa cabin! It is on the Horizon, a 8P level on deck 11. How will that be?

cksv Posted December 8, 2020 #198 Share Posted December 8, 2020 (edited) Make sure to check pricing with and without the promo. EmmasNana Posted December 8, 2020 #199 Share Posted December 8, 2020 Hubby and I both rcvd the RU2 offer today. Can this be used on a cruise that is already booked? Also, does this cover the 18% gratuities or is that covered in the offer?
EmmasNana Posted December 8, 2020 #200 Share Posted December 8, 2020 Also, are we able to use the credit from a canceled cruise and just transfer to the new cruise and get the OBC that comes with the canceled cruise?
