A Mighty Cruise Ship

Recommended Posts

The Symphony of the Seas made an appearance on the Smithsonian Channel Mighty Cruise Ships again tonight (originally aired in April 2019). The show brought back fond memories of being on a cruise and our inaugural voyage of the Symphony out of the brand new Miami terminal. We hope to sail on her again soon.

I taped this last night and can’t wait to watch it.  I’m booked on Symphony in March so I’m sure that we won’t sail. Since it was my Casino Royale annual free cruise, I’ll rebook it probably for early 2022 since I have 10 other bookings this year

I've got it recorded and will plan on watching it on our "Friday Night Cruise Happy Hour" where my wife and I watch the weeks recorded "Below Deck" episode along with "Mighty Cruise Ships" complete with Royal Caribbean drinks such as the lava flow and Kraken colada. Makes for a fun evening of sea, ships and several sips.

Just watched it this afternoon on demand. It was both exciting and depressing. Hard to believe what has occurred in the past 12 months. I couldn’t help but look at almost every scene and say “ nope, that can’t happen that way today”. Form the packed shows to the Promenade parade to the full pools to the dining tables so close to each other. Ugh.

Definitely an enjoyable watch, especially having sailed her in late 2019.  I'm recording the entire series of Might Cruise Ship shows.  Many, like the Ocean Endeavor episode in Northern Canada are interesting.  Too many episodes however have started becoming formulaic.  Turnover day is hectic, the Excursion Manager has to juggle multiple problems, some passengers are late returning to port and may get left behind, the Executive Chef watches over all meal prep like a hawk, the Captain must squeeze the big ship into a small space, etc. That said, I'll still watch all episodes longingly.

I bet the very end of the evenings are the most fun, 😉
