If vaccines are going to be mandatory as many on this site want to happen,  why should kids get a pass?  They can spread the virus just as easy as adults and if kids are the casualty for the short term, so be it.  If families have a fit about it, they can choose other methods of vacationing for the short term.

The last thing the cruise lines want is a repeat of what happened last year and if making vaccines mandatory is the first step in preventing it, then that's what should happen.

As said, long as they keep pushing back start of Cruising later and later it's possible Vaccine won't be required anyway. Start up is sooner cant see keeping kids off almost another 2yrs to Vaccinate, and thats best case even by Fauci. There is no current rush to develop and Vaccinate millions kids right now anyway.

If they start making exemptions for one group, then the gate has been opened and everyone with a reason why they can't or won't get the vaccine wlll expect the same.

My personal belief is that some type of cruising will start up by late summer and everyone will have to be vacated to sail.

People should be prepared that they may or may not cruise when it starts back up.  We have a November Oasis L&S booked and I fully realize that because there may be capacity restrictions, we might be bumped.

The important thing is for cruising to resume successfully - whatever that requires. Take the kids on another type of vacation if their not vaccinated,  they won't be scarred for life  if that happens.

No I just read Nancy Pelsoi who really doesn't like it that much and has no faith in our development and testing procedure. It stops the spread of the so called UK/Kent variant which is the main one now in UK and soon to be main one in U.S. I think the statement about reduction of spread of UK strain speaks for itself. Yet it is going to be what April before approval? If ever.

 

I bet you 100 bucks it will never be approved in USA. I know i will never met you probably but i will make a donation to charity of your choice in NYC next time I am there if I win. If you win make donation to a cancer charity in Dallas. I will trust you to do it. And you can trust me.

I did see that South Africa has stopped using the Astra Zeneca vaccine.

Another cruise line, Saga Cruises, has announced that they will require proof of vaccination in order to cruise.

Carnival has taken down their health protocols from their website.  Initially, there was not mention of vaccine requirements -- maybe they will add that when they re-publish their health and safety requirements.

Carnival will restrict access to public spaces, and venues/activities will operate at reduced capacity. The line says it may use a reservation system for public areas including pools, gyms, casinos, restaurants, bars and entertainment productions. SO no matter what you want to do you have to have a reservation

DH and I discussed last night...  the one thing we couldn’t live with long term is the bar thing.  We NEVER plan out when we want to swing by a bar?!!  I wonder if they would still offer a walk up and take away option?

Not really Exemption when there is no Vaccine for Children, most likely wont be available by Fall. Shoot will be lucky If I can receive it by then.

If the policy is all vaccinated then exempting kids is just that, an exemption. It doesn't matter if there is no vaccine for them.

I can't see it. One of the great things about cruising is how much of your time can be spent doing what you want when you feel like doing it. This is like planning out entertainment on O class ships but on steroids.

I think it's ironic to see all of these usernames I saw clamoring for summer or holiday startups by any means necessary without vaccines have changed their tune significantly now that vaccines are available (but largely only for them).

That never was me.  I have always said I wouldn't be willing to cruise w/o a vaccine.  My husband gets his 2nd shot this Thursday and I will have mine on the 24th.  I hope we can cruise in November, but I don't have plans to book anything else until cruises are up and running again.

Worst case scenario is that Disney starts back up in 2023.  Can't see them selling their 4 ships and also losing money on their 3 new LNG ships, including the Disney Wish which is currently being built in Germany.

Please go through my history because you are SADLY mistaken if you think I ever clamored for summer sailings by any means necessary.  I know my end of August Oasis cruise will not sail and I am keeping fingers crossed about Halloween on the Mardi Gras.

People want their future cruises to be like it was in 2019 and sadly it isn't going to happen.  Sacrifices will have to be made in the short term and if the requirements that are put in place by the cruise lines are not acceptable to a certain percentage of cruisers, then they will have to choose another method of vacationing until things change to how it was in 2019.  Nobody knows at this point when that will happen.

It is not going to happen doing what you want when you feel like doing it for a long time .  We have been in Playa del Carmen and Punta Cana last year Set and Dec and every year 2 twice a year for years   had no problems at all . But remember most things are outside and they only allowed 50% plus free covid insurance and starting now they are offering free testing to get home ,. We are Booked for Jan 2023 as cruising should be back to normal by then.

Yeah but their strain is the main one in their country with 90% of cases. Here and in USA it isn't not even close apparently. The so called UK/Kent is the main one here. Our case numbers are still going down yet testing has been ramped right up. So either both vaccines are effective at reducing spread of UK/Kent or we are close to so called herd immunity from infection within population. Possibly a bit of both I think.
