Does anyone know if Allure got her refurb in May last year while all this was going on?  I'm betting we DO get to cruise Sept. 12th, but just

 wondered.

I don't think they did anything major like adding the slides, etc.

Symphony seems to be an error, the ship is 3 years old, why would they bring her all the way over Atlantic for a dry dock unless she has some major technical issues we might not be aware of.

Symphony was due in 2023.  Perhaps by bringing her in early they can then reset the 5 year clock and she would not be due until 2026.  That would save them from taking her out if service in 2023.  Makes sense since she’s not sailing with passengers now.

Then I would not miss my April 2023 cruise on her😇

The only way to "reset" the clock, which started the day the ship was delivered, and continues to the day she is scrapped, is to take the ship "out of service", and have all documents and certificates cancelled.  Then the ship would have to get a temporary certificate to transit from where it is in lay-up to a shipyard, where a drydocking and full survey (many days) would have to be completed before all certificates were re-issued.  Just like when some of the Oasis class ships were brought into shipyard early for azipod repairs, that doesn't count, the statutory drydockings must be within a 3 month window either side of the 5 year anniversary.

With the large drydock in Freeport still unusable (and I'm doubtful they will ever to the "partial" dockings again), the only yards that can take the Oasis class ships are in Europe, and with all the azipod failures RCG has experienced, they may want to do a drydocking instead of the allowed underwater survey at the half way point in the 5 year span, to overhaul the pods.

Thanks for the update.  Taking her over for a drydock to do work on the Azipods does make a lot of sense given the issues that they have had.

I'm starting to think that regardless of cost, the "big girls" will get two extra drydockings every 10 years, so they can do azipods every 30 months.

Has there been any issues with the Azipods on Harmony? Looks like only Oasis and Allure had problems that needed the vessel to be fixed inbetween the dry docks?

No, but she is approaching the time frame where they start to see problems, so I believe, based on the Oasis and Allure having early dockings for pod maintenance (all pods were working), that they are taking a preventative maintenance interval where they overhaul the pods before a problem happens.  Good engineering.  If improvements and upgrades to pods show that the maintenance interval can be lengthened again, they will.

Apparently Liberty on her way over too.

She still seems to be hanging out by CoCoCay with the rest of the RCG fleet. The article in post #28 said not till July for Liberty.

So if the Liberty is scheduled for drydock in July does that mean all the July sailings from Galveston will be canceled?  We are booked to sail July 25th.  If so why would they book a month of sailings knowing the ship will be in drydock.

To be fair the sailings were released long before they planned on having Liberty do a drydock. They are just taking advantage of idle time knowing that the ships won’t be sailing to get some work done.  As far as cancelling the sailings, those  will be cancelled along with all the rest of the

July sailings company wide just as they have been doing for the past year...cancelling a month at a time.
