Agree, but you young blokes 'have time on your side.' A great Rolling Stones number.
Rare MicCanberra Posted September 9, 2021 Author #102 Share Posted September 9, 2021 I feel bad for the kids, their childhood being lost, their futures jeopardised due to broken education and inadequate socialisations.

Kids are fairly resilient though. Education can be caught up, it just might take a year or so longer than normal. Socialisation is more of an issue, especially for kids without siblings, but good parenting can help as will online contact with friends.

I remember many years ago kids repeating 6th class in primary school. My yougest son did and today he has an Honours degree in Science Biotechnology. Apparently it’s rampant. Over the last couple of years we have had a ripper of a bush fire,2 floods and of course Covid . And People’s nerves are raw ,a lot can’t cope . But as I keep saying to my friends and neighbours when they complain they can’t go the club, coffee shop ,cruise or overseas. What about our relatives that went through the horrors of WW2 .They endured hell and come back to have families start businesses. Our troubles are nothing. I am not feeling perky at the moment but the memory of those stories bring me down to earth. Anyway, I hope you are all managing at the moment. Once we can, we are off and out of here to the Mornington Peninsula and north to the Murray River area while we wait for cruising to return, which may possibly be middle of next year or a little later.
Chiliburn Posted September 10, 2021 #109 Share Posted September 10, 2021 There’s many stories of the horrors that people went through @Rassa. One that stands out is a fellow I knew was caught in Singapore by the Japanese .He spent most of the war on the Burma railway and was sent to Hiroshima to work in a coal mine. He was underground when the big one went off. He survived and come home to have a fruitful life. Are you looking forward to celebrity edge coming to Australia ? There was a show on the Railway in Singapore last night and they showed Aussie soldiers and how thin the diggers were building the railway during WWII. However, lovely to see the art work on old buildings showing how Singapore was 60 years ago or more and Raffles of course. I have a FCC with Celebrity and apart from spending that, won't go on Celebrity AGAIN for not returning our money on a cruise that was cancelled. They are in my bad books for a long time regardless of liking Bugs. Quite happy cruising RCCL and Princess to care about Celebrity. Hope you are all doing OK in NSW. Hope we are let in next year in nsw to get on board our cruises as it seems no other states will be welcoming the vics or nsw for that matter!

I have to disagree with you, to me your attitude is like telling someone with a broken leg that they are lucky they don't have two broken legs.

My uncle was captured at the fall of Singapore and was sent to Thailand to help build the railway. My Dad who was only 15 when his brother returned said he didn't recognise him, he was skin and bone and to be honest never really recovered.
ilikeanswers Posted September 10, 2021 #113 Share Posted September 10, 2021 Not sure why we are comparing with WWII as if that is the worst thing that has happened in the world. Plenty of just as horrible things have happened since and people have a right to be depressed about them☹️.
