Thank you for the ST PATRICK'S DAilY, Rich.  I'll pass on the other 2 days.  Interesting quote by Corddry.  I was originally supposed to visit Busan on my 2017 Grand Asia but it was cancelled when China threw a hissy fit.  Bacon cheeseburger soup sounds interesting.  My alternative is Classic Caesar Salad, Braised Lamb Shank, and Vanilla Ice Cream as served on MS Prinsendam St. Patrick's Day 2 years ago:

Looks like a great day to celebrate.  Corned beef and cabbage would have been my guess for a top meal selection today.  I'm kind of surprised at cheeseburger soup.  

 

The appliances arrived right on time at 9:15 and were installed in time for me to make most of my 10:00 am Zoom meeting.  Everything fits.  The fridge does stick out a little, but that is by design.  It is nice to lessen the volume on it as well as energy costs.  Today, I stop at the grocery store on the way home from water fitness.  I deliberately didn't shop before hand as I didn't want to have to store too much for the transfer.  It worked out well, although I was living on soup.  

 

Ok, the recipe for bacon cheeseburger soup comes from a different website.  This one sounds a bit more flavorful than the usual site.

I will encourage Mrs. Whogo to go heavy on the onions and potatoes and light on the cabbage, not that she will pay any attention again this year. Nothing against cabbage, I'm happy to eat it, but carrots and potatoes are so much better with the corned beef.

Good morning and happy St Patrick's Day from Cork.

Today there will only be virtual parades due to the second Paddy's Day in Lockdown.  Covid infection figures remain stubbornly high and we fear that the easing promised for early April, will not happen.

Yesterday was 16C (61F) and today promises to be similar.  The grass is starting to dry out and the lawnmower which has been lying in the corner of the shed since October is begging for attention.  Maybe tomorrow!  

The traditional meal for St Patrick's day in this area would be boiled bacon and cabbage.  I am not that keen on boiled bacon so we will pass.  We don't boil the cabbage, but cut it in half, pan fry it to 'blacken' it, then put it in the oven for 10/15 minutes.  Anyway today we will be having roast leg of lamb, carrots, cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes. 

We hope everyone has a great day and if you celebrate, then celebrate safely.

Thank you for today’s Daily, Rich! Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!  I vote we celebrate the boat. Though it would not surprise me, if it is truly the sandwich we should celebrate.

Last night at the beach was gorgeous. The Atlantic was showing off its colors. Shades of blue & aqua, not often seen up my way. And the 7 of us gave one of our hurting local businesses lots of business last night!  It seemed so strange to be driving home while it was still light. My ride home takes me through the middle of one of our state parks that includes the Intercoastal waters, so I was treated to flocks of migrating birds overnighting along the waters, before continuing their journey north.  Today is change the Smoke Detector batteries day at my place. And my pool might actually be warm enough for a dip this afternoon. No clue what supper will be.

In the heel of Italy, Manduria is considered the birthplace of the native Primitivo grape and was officially recognised as such in the 1970s when a DOC was created for the region. However, Produttori di Manduria had been making wines for 40 years by then, unashamedly proud of their deep affection for Primitivo.

As well as making high-quality examples of Puglia's most famous vinous export, the co-operative is well versed in producing fascinating whites from Fiano and Verdeca. But it is with the poetically titled Elegia that the extraordinary levels of quality come to light. Made from old bush vines up to 50 years old it creates a wine of intense dark berry fruit with wonderful balsamic end notes and excellent balance.

The Primitivo vines average 15 to 25 years old and are trained in the native alberello (bush vine) system and espallier. Harvested in early September the average yield is approximately 90 quintals per hectare.

Medium ruby red colour with a pure nose of ripe dark fruits, cherry, plum and sweet spices like ginger and aniseed supported with discreet oak. The palate is round and textured with a well-balanced freshness, ending with a long and broad spicy finish. A food-flexible wine, but pairs well with roast red meats, grills, pasta with ragu sauce

Good Morning all and Happy St. Pat's.   Thanks for the dailies, the updates, the memes.  Roy, when is your surgery? We are wishing you a swift recovery.  My own brother, only 56 and fit as a fiddle, is undergoing open heart surgery tomorrow.  My sister reminded me that her husband had his surgery over 15 years ago and nothing has slowed him down - they are both still world travelers and enjoy an active life.

Thanks for the good wishes Colin.  Corn Beef and cabbage is a dish for the Irish Americans , rather than an IRISH dish.  It started in the USA.

Having traveled to Ireland more than 30 times over the years, I have learned the Irish are a warm and friendly race of people who live in a beautiful and magic land.

 

I wish for them to get this Covid business behind them as soon as possible. They are having a devil of a time with it....no traveling more than 5K from home last time I checked.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Today a year ago is the last time we sat down in a restaurant to eat.  DH has been to today's port, but on a business trip not a cruise.  Soup sounds good.  Love Roy's pictures of the monkeys.  No corned beef today, but will have green margarita's.

The drink today, Sourtoe, is disgusting in my opinion.  I'm not going to post a picture but will give a description.

The Sourtoe Cocktail is practically a rite of passage for visitors to Dawson City, Yukon. It's a simple drink (a shot of whiskey, usually Yukon Jack) with an unusual accompaniment: a mummified human toe.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!  Thank you to Roy for including my MIL (make that DMIL 😄) on your celebration list today.  She deserves it.  An interesting sounding meal of the day, and the picture @dfishposted looks tasty.  I may have to check it out.  I am not a fan of corned beef and cabbage so that definitely won't be on our menu tonight.

 

I have been to Busan, South Korea once and two things come to mind - fog and fish market.  I will go dig out some photos from our 2010 cruise and post them in a bit.

 

But first I am excited to report tomorrow is my DD's second Covid vaccination shot.  The school district where she works is giving the teachers tomorrow and Friday off work so they can recover comfortably at home in case they have worse after effects this time.  A well deserved four day weekend!  DD and her fellow teachers have been working hard in their classrooms teaching since the end of last August.  It's worked out very well.  Some students decided to learn from home but the vast majority of students are in their classrooms every day.  I salute them!

 

Here's a photo of her class doing workbook problems near the end of the school day.  Temps taken daily, masks worn,  distancing the desks, loads of hand sanitizer, and shields for each student.

Happy St Patricks Day from a warm and sunny day at the beach.

       My family has always celebrated St Patricks Day. I will be cooking Corn Beef and cabbage today although it will only be us. No great celebrations this year. My late brother was scheduled to arrive today and play in a golf tournament with me tomorrow. That of course is off. Some friends offered to partner with me but  my heart just isnt in it.

    Cat Shepard- I know what you mean about the ocean. It has been beautiful with all the shades of blue/aqua.

Okay, here are some of my pics and thoughts about Busan.  We were there in 2010 on the Diamond Princess on a Bangkok to Whittier, Alaska cruise.  Friends who were booked had talked us into accompanying them and we had a great trip.  It's always better with friends!

 

This morning, May 3, we arrived NEAR Busan but could not see the port due to the heavy fog.  We anchored and awaited the lifting of the fog, all the while the fog horns played all morning.  Looking over the edge of the deck rails you couldn't even see the water below!  After many hours the fog lifted enough to get us into the dock. 

 

All the tours had to be scrambled to fit the time left in port.  I don't know for sure, but I would say they probably delayed departure, too so everyone could enjoy the port.  They worked really hard to get into Busan because they had entertainers to pick up and let off, and a whole dock full of food and supplies to load on.  

 

 

We and our friends didn't book a tour.  We used the map provided by the ship and walked into town to see the sights, something we love to do.  Shopping and eating at the same time! 

 

Shoe stores were in abundance here.  Strappy heels seemed to be in fashion at the time, nearly 11 years ago.

 

From here we moved on to the world renowned Busan Fish Market.  Quite the visual display!

Good morning everyone and Happy Saint Patrick’s Day.

 

When I was young, I used to go to a summer camp in Fitchville Ct. It’s now where the casinos are. Anyway, If you blinked, you missed Fitchville. We had a store in the area called Fishbones and they made the best hero sandwiches called grinders. I’ve never been able to duplicate it or get one quite like it. Mr. Fishbones died a few years ago and the store is no longer there. Even as an adult, I would drive there , over three hours away, just for their. Grinder. So, I am celebrating the sandwich and not the boat.

 

So happy to see DHs name off the care list.
