New CDC Guidance 5/26, significant changes for masks and dining

What's your guess on the border?

@Tree_skier Just my guess, but until a certain percentage is vaccinated I doubt outsiders will be welcomed in for non essential travel. Once they are allowed in we should be allowed to travel without quarantine upon our return. I’m not leaving until then.  I can go to my cottage or our farm in Alberta for a change of scenery if needed.

Owen goes for his first shot this Monday, in the 12 to 18 group which just opened on Sunday. At the 4 month current vac interval his second shot is September 20th, worse case position. Add 2 more weeks for that dose to set in and it becomes October 1st. So If I had to guess at current vax rates that might be a middle of the road situation for all getting second doses.  More doses quicker then maybe it is sooner.  My second date is July 18th, but I got mine early through work.

Unless a miracle happens and we plough throw doses given, I might say September 1st minimum.  Just to keep summer holiday people away, while the nation gets to breath without a mask on.  Sure be nice if the kids can start school without masks in September.

1720 is still available for October 17th. Just saying😁

I am wondering if I misunderstood this or if I'm reading it correctly... whirlpools can only be occupied by people in the same family/traveling group?

If that is the case, I may have to rebook my Adventure cruise. I live in the whirlpool. If I could just book the whirlpool, I would. I was just in a hotel last weekend for the sole purpose of sitting in the whirlpool for hours (and it was glorious!). I was super excited while reading everything until I got to that part.

I find it very interesting that the June 15 date was announced weeks ago. As a CA resident I'm happy this will happen but the county I live in has not moved to the least restrictive tier yet.

A lot of counties are still orange. We are still orange. They are dropping the tier system altogether on June 15th, so I don't think it will matter. It would be nice if more people receive the vaccine.

Adventure out of Nassau?  That cruise is not governed by the CDC.

Think of the possibilities, the windjammer, the theatre, pool area, and various venues around the ship. Go right to the front of the line for everything!!

Desinated tables, seats, etc, set aside for masked passengers.

Darn find my mask asap !!

And to think everyone didn't want to wear a mask to cruise.

Sign me up .........sounds great !!

I know, but I fear that they will use the same rules to stay consistent with all of the ships.

We almost did the same thing with our vacation money! Ha! I told my husband that we are getting one next summer.

Given that Adventure is considered “fully vaccinated”, I think RCI will apply the CDC rules for vaccinated sailings.  Which means no masks or social distancing for most passengers. Guess we’ll see when the final protocols come out for those sailings. I think you’ll be good.  Fingers crossed for you!

I'm sure many will disagree with my comments, but I fail to see the issue.  If the cruise lines decide that vaccinations are required for sailing, paying customers will decide whether to spend their money and comply or choose another vacation option.

Remember when we complained about seat belts --  they are now legally required in all 50 states.  Some choose to not wear them and risk legal action or worse, endangering innocent people because they choose to ignore the law.

Remember when smoking was an option in most buildings, planes, busses, ships -- now, most facilities have a designated smoking area (normally outside).  People complain(ed) but they comply with the law and exit(ed) the building, plane, bus or other facility to smoke...their choice.

When you travel to certain parts of the world, you are required to vaccinate and show proof...or make other travel arrangements.  Why is vaccination so polarizing.  We have seen the toll Covide-19 has taken on our economy, mental health, livelihoods, family relations and yet we continue to debate vaccinations on an issue where we have a true choice.  Our vacation choices are just that -- choices.  The stipulations that accompany those choices are just that -- requirements/stipulations for our chosen vacation.

I  think you need to talk to the Governor of Florida, he sees it differently.

Good question as I read that RC won't be able to do 95 percent of vaccinated guests because of kids.

So because of kids all adults will have to wear masks and no buffets? If that's the case, ban kids that are not vaccinated.

Sounds like designated vaccinated passengers only areas will operate the same as 95% cruises. So what's most likely is the vast majority of the ship being designated as vaccinated only. So adults needing masks for the kids pools, the kids areas, and one specific restaurant, and getting on and off the ship on port days. But everything else, the theater, the buffet, the rest of the restaurants, the main pools, the casinos, and the bars, being off-limits to kids and unvaccinated passengers; and working the exact same as a 95% cruise for everyone else.

No. If you're vaccinated at the cruise line's discretion you don't have to wear masks, practice social distancing.

Buffets are back. Everything is back if you're vaccinated. Happy cruising.

I think I found the answer in my cruise planner:

Check in with the Royal app

Within 90 days of your sail date, plus the chance to participate in our Expedited Arrival boarding trial at the port.

I can do that when we pay in full on the 14th.  If anybody on sooner sailings does this I would appreciate a post...

I’m fully paid on AOS, within the 90 days, but don’t see this on my planner — just says not yet able to check in and they will email when I can.  But I’m sure someone with a sailing in June will share soon

I’m so glad to see the update, peoples! And I hope this shows we can sail and get back sooner than we can imagine! And YES that's the key 95% and pre-covid conditions will be here to stay (we're vaccinated TOO!!). You have to be in our shoes staying home long enough to actually consider booking the first cruises - it will be DELIGHTFUL.  I know what I said about the buffet but what difference does it can make - we're on a cruise!!

We'll never make it in 2021 though - because DH just hear back from his MT5 broker and he truly got caught in such a SCAM! And yes, honestly, I think this was from being away and lonely with all these promises of online money trading from a rich Hong Kong girl and her "EXPERT UNCLE with the numbers"!!  Really, that's where all our money went?!?!?! Hurray! He said he could MAKE IT RIGHT with Doge.Coin 2 weeks ago. Seriously down and such a fun treat while everyone else is booking cruises!!

I'm going to be up in Washington in August and was thinking about crossing if things were close to normal.  It is so weird.  Canada, USA and Mexico are all supposed to have the same rules and operating in tandem. I was down at the San Ysidro border crossing last Friday Morning and then    ten miles down the road to the Otay Mesa border in the afternoon.  I wasn't crossing but just down in the area.  I looked across the border and the line of cars crossing north was 4 lanes wide and as far as the eye could see and it was a steady stream of humanity walking across. When I crossed at the Aldergrove/Lynden border back in Feb. US CBP told they'd probably process 12 cars that day.

Hopefully they are able to increase the rates of vaccination and the numbers continue to drop so life can start returning to normal for you.  Talking to folks back home in BC, things sound so dire.

Well DH is normally REALLY good and in control of only buying WHAT HE NEEDS from the bank. So I’m not sure where his kid got the manners go on Tinder and find a SCAMMY women from Hong Kong! It's true. It's all to do with forgetting we can't trust everyone online - a little bit of the golden rule goes a long way, doesn't it, Merion_mom?

Oh no that is terrible.  Day trading is tricky but dogecoin is definitely the answer.  You'll be swimming in money soon and booking big suites on Celebrity soon! How have things worked out with the Ex and barista.  We haven't  had an update in ages! SERIOUSLY!

Well, I don't like to shame anybody, but we didn't know that he had a son until recently - would be respectful to not involve us with a SCAM? Yes know Camel Financial in China and don’t expect them to suddenly let you withdraw any money EVEN if they make it look like your trades are UP!!

You’ll notice Doge Coin has mostly gone in HALF and this is bad behaviors to teach our children when they're looking at the grown ups. I thought his kid might be a problem and it’s such a great reminder!!
And yes suites on Celebrity sound AWESOME!!

Of course she ended up having twins, Tree_skier! Honestly a lot of people don't realize how loud it is when I try to call because by the time I call it always seems so hectic on the other end!  And yes, my EX now has gone from having 2 boys and now 2 girls!
