Keep track of your FCC-Cautionary Tale

Like mostly everyone on here  I have FCC from a canceled 2021 cruise.
Today, I noticed in my personalizer that the FCC was applied to a cruise that was already paid in full.

The Princess explanation was that when my cruise for April 2022 was assigned a new ship it triggered a new booking and my FCC was applied.

1. That cruise was already paid in full

2. No email was sent stating the FCC was applied so I had no knowledge.

Once Princess was alerted about the error it was back in my account in under an hour

Keep up with your FCC  💰🤑💵

Yes, that's something that I have been doing.  We've had 6 cancelled cruises with FCC moved to other cruises that subsequently cancelled and some that Princess automatically applied the FCC to without our knowledge.  I copy the FCC info from the Personalizer to an Excel spreadsheet and I add columns to show the movement of each one.  It has definitely come in handy.

I had the same happen to my FCC.  At least you were given the reason why, rep that I spoke with said "don't know why".  The FCC was back in my account within the hour.

And this is why I (1) no longer pay more than deposit until final payment date (ex that August one) (2) have a screenshot of the FCC & Goodwill OBC vouchers and (3) have gift card refunds go back to the gift card. Looks like a owe a boatload but I've got 4k in unspent no-expiration gift cards.

Yes, I'm a control freak

...and I have had FCDs, and the OBC that does with them totally disappear. You have to watch those too. My TA has been working with Princess since February to sort it all out. Good thing I  have screen shots and the purchase confirmation emails.

I am currently experiencing a NIGHTMARE with Princess regarding OBC and FCC. Our TA was on the phone with Princess for an hour and a half to have a large amount of OBC and FCC re-instated on a cruise which replaces the two that were cancelled. Princess sent the issue to Customer Relations. That is why I have a pile of hard copies of past reservations on my dining room table! I am pretty upset with Princess. I have the funds documented on our hard copy reservations.

We have had the worst time dealing with these same things. I keep wondering how everyone else is handling it, because I have spent hours on the phone with Princess reps telling me something can’t be done, having to beg them to get Customer Relations involved and then they do it (which I knew they could). The biggest issue has been FCDs that turned into FCCs and then being told they can no longer be used as deposits and don’t bring any of the related OBC that FCDs bring. And then being told bonus FCCs can’t be used for deposits, but suddenly one night they get applied to a cruise option and that makes the deposit. And then when things change, or I make a new booking, Princess just applies FCCs and goodwill credits at will and  I’ve had to go through it all again. I have had 2 and 3 hour phone calls multiple times. At one point my husband was in the background saying, “Just tell them to send us out money and we’ll never cruise with them again”. I was tempted…

PescadoAmarillo-

I am tempted as well... unfortunately, Princess is our favorite. Now I am wondering... it is such a MAJOR MESS! They cancelled cruises (I get that) and refused to transfer our deposit to the new booking. So, we had to go out of pocket for the new booking and they will not transfer the FCC and OBC to the new booking! UGH! Class Action Lawsuit anyone?

We just booked a Sep 18 2021 cruise and FCC was automatically applied as deposit. After advice from Caribill I asked TA to check with Princess and the OBC for FCD was granted and added to the booking.

In our situation, TA and Princess had "taken care of it". I documented the date of the conversation and the names of agents.  However, I document conversations and keep hard copies.

UPDATE! After waiting an hour for US and then 30 minutes with Princess, SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!! OBC has been transferred!

  • 3 weeks later...

Bumping this up because it happened again and I’m currently on hold with Princess 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

SMH

Verdict the computer will do a sweep and apply the FCC to any open reservation.

i have a casino booked cruise with an open balance (owed by the casino corp) that the computer will see as unpaid and continue to apply my FCC to every few weeks.

i was told to keep an eye on it and call back when it happens again and it will be removed.

I had a couple of issues regarding a FCD, OBC, and a bonus gift card. I sent a polite email to Princess and they contacted me in three days. After a couple of back and forth emails and a phone call from a Customer Relations rep., everything was resolved. It wasn’t as complicated as some of the problems others have had, but I’m very satisfied with Princess and the outcome.

I am glad I found this thread as I am now better informed about the situation with FCCs. We have a TA in November which we may not be able to take if the US does not open its borders to UK visitors. Final payment is due in 4 weeks. If we make the payment and then they don’t allow us to travel (even if the cruise goes ahead) we will ask for a refund rather than take FCCs. We have another Princess cruise booked for next year which I’m hoping will go ahead without all this stress.

I had missing Goodwill OBC from our cancelled 2021 Enchanted Princess cruise. This was our third cancellation since the original 2020.

Transferred the full payment to a cruise for 2022 so have nothing more to pay other than flights. The $400 Goodwill OBC wasn't showing so I emailed Princess UK and the lady that normally deals with Shareholder OBC got it sorted in two weeks. Very happy with Princess as I have my FCD, Goodwill, and shareholder OBC all credited to my reservation with over a year to go yet!

We are looking to book a 2022 cruise via our TA's website.  Based on this post, is it likely that after we book, or FCC will automatically be applied?  If our case, hoping that happens without having to request or book the cruise over the phone.

Thanks

From what the Princess rep told me it’s a strong possibility that it could work that way as well but I’m mot 100% certain.

Perfect - I'm willing to take the chance to avoid the long hold times right now!
