Simple browser based  interface on Marella seem to get fewer problems for many people.

Significant problem with the princess app it's just too big once running.

It looks like a case of poor specification and project control for it to get so big and slow.

Great for the development teams they just create vast quantities of ongoing work that needs paying for.

Is it out sourced or in-house?

I believe the app was outsourced and the testing was inhouse under controlled envirornment.  Most of the app testing was in home office instead on a ship

Thank you for your feedback on Celebrity app. I am sailing them Mar 2023, maybe the app will be in perfect working order.  That is a good goal to set

Please let me know how the Celebrity app is in March.  Our next sailing with them is a TA on Reflection in Oct, 2023.  Thanks.

Can anyone who has had issues selecting arrival group let me know if this is a problem when it is time to complete the health status portion? I have (painfully) made it as far as arrival group and am in the green lane. The next step (selecting arrival group) just spins and spins and spins on every device I try. I'm not concerned about having a specific time to arrive, BUT the step after this is the health status. So, if I can't get past this step, will I have an issue proceeding to the health status step? This darned app is the most frustrating thing in the world...

When is your cruise?  I wasn't able to do arrival group until a couple of weeks prior.

Are elite medallions supposed to be black?   Just got mine and they are Silver. Does it matter?

If you are going on the DISCOVERY, our medallions are white since they are the inaugural cruises.  Not sure how many will be considered maiden cruises.

NOT NECESSARILY A MEDALLION APP issue (pre-cruise):

Just returned from a cruise where Medallion APP did not function at 100 percent.  Not surprised.

1.  Would not default to current voyage.  I had to manually go back to photo, drop down to voyages, reset so I could actually use Medallion Net.

2.  Could not get onboard account.  Finally, Medallion people set up a hot button my my device homepage:  "Ocean Concierge".  Best solution ever! Patter showed up as a list (not like Journey View).

Of course....they are doing away with this option in a couple of weeks as they update their app.  UGH

3.  Had to delete, reload, sign in multiple times during my cruise.

4.  Switching devices (swap) for Medallion worked sometimes.  Not seamless.

Medallion itself died 12 hours before I disembarked from a 25 day cruise.  At the most inopportune time.

Crew Chat worked well.  Finding shipmates worked most of the time (after I "learned" really how to use it).  Messaging friends was a whole different ball game.  Loved unlimited wi-fi but it was slow.  Could not download many photos, videos, etc.

All medallions are silver metal outer edges.  It is the color of the insert logo and middle ring that changes.  (Unless design has undergone new changes).

Use the main menu of all the Personal Info items and tap on the specific one you want.  You do not need to proceed through them in order.

May I ask which ship this was?

Grand Princess.  I did not use the Medallion much except as a cruise card (open doors, buying drinks/shops, dining room.  Did not try to order anything from the app or send a message (other than crew chat).  Once I learned how to locate a shipmate, that was okay...if...if...I first clicked on the current cruise.  What a pain in the... to have to do this each time.

On Caribbean Princess I did not set up an on-shore account being still a bit paranoid.  DW bought something in Diamond International on St Kitts.  We paid with CC but they did use the Medallion to give us a 7% credit to our onboard account.  No, that doesn't make me less paranoid but it seemed to work OK.

I have "learned" not to make purchases on shore.  Been there/done that.  So saw no reason for granting permission to make purchases on shore.  I overheard a vendor ask a passenger if they wanted to use Medallion.  They did not know about that at all.  Not really paranoid, more suspicious or Princess and venue.  Interesting that you still got 7% kick back.

Being a former auditor I watched them like a hawk.  I was OK with the controls until I realized the person doing the transaction was being trained.  It had nothing to do with the Medallion but when he was doing the CC transaction it was for about twice the actual amount.  I pointed it out and after that he "paid more attention".

I still get hung up on arrival group and currently the health status does nothing. Is this because it doesn’t open up until a day or two before?

So this will be our second cruise since COVID started, first was with Carnival and they have a lovely app on the phone, but still have a card for opening the door and drinks and such.  So here is the question . . .  how does the medallion work in the casino?  or how does the casino work?

You'll use the medallion to set up your account/pin - any machine will do for that.  Then you just scan the medallion at whatever machine you want to donate your money to.  😀  It's pretty simple.  It will also be scanned at the cashier if need be.

We just play the machines so I don't know if it's needed in some manner at the table games.

I have had health status section filled out since the beginning.  But I realize it needs to be re-addressed within two days of sailing.

Testinh Off ship should not make a difference as long as they are using a setup of servers and WiFi receivers same as the ships closed system, it should be totally independent of external resources.

Simulation of 3000+ users could have been automated.

Why no one noticed it had grown to 1.5GB when running is a bit of a surprise as that basically eliminates the use of a lot of devices.

Requiring people to upgrade to use it was not a smart design decision.

Load time on my fairly decent phone is far too long what on earth is it doing

Initial UI should be almost instant.

Also surprised the most common thing people do is reapeat orders for drinks can't find any way to do it.

Wonder how many real passengers were involved at the concept and design phase.

Has the hallmarks of a project that used Agile style methodology  make it up as you go.

Oh, man....that does not make me happy (well, I'm happy for you but not for me). I hadn't worried as I figured that would pop up a day or two prior like it did for Virgin. I am in the green lane, though, so maybe I don't need to be too concerned?

If you're green don't worry.  I talked to a couple on our last cruise who simply forgot to do the health questionaire.  When they got to check-in the agent simply ran through it with them and they were done.
