Someone on the Sky posted that they were charged for drinks over $12.  They even showed them the printout that stated up to $15 but they were snippy with the poster.  This is driving me crazy already and I’m not even on the ship yet.  Five of us paid when it was $50 and I hope it doesn’t turn into a hassle.

I believe that was later rectified by GS.  Unless you are talking about someone else. There are a lot of posts about drink limit.  It is quite clear that HQ at least intended the limit to be $15.  Who knows how the system is programmed and whether each ship needs separate software updates or whether most of the logic is on central server as in a client-server type setup (in which case all ships billing ought to be working the same).

Years ago my wife had an issue with bar staff not understanding the terms of the beverage package at that time. I tracked down the Beverage Manager and - nicely, calmly, and respectfully - outlined the issue. Within an hour every bar on the ship had a memo from him correcting the issue.

Thank you.  How do you find the Beverage Manager?  I don’t mind talking to the manager but doesn’t it seem like they should know what’s covered by now?

Where does it say $22 each?  Even Premier has $20 limit?

If you are talking AUD, then you should have included the currency.

Sorry if I confused anyone, I didn't think about the currency.  I found this when I Googled Princess Plus and only just now scrolled to the end where it states prices are in AUD.  Although it makes no sense for them to quote anything other than USD as that is the on board currency.

https://www.princess.com/cruise-deals-promotions/au/plus-premier-cruise-packages/

So we have a beverage limit of US$12 p/p?  How do they charge for drinks over this price?  the extra amount plus a gratuity?

Doesn't really matter, we mainly drink wine, just the occasional martini and I should hope that wine at least comes in at US$12?

Just trying to sort this out before we get on board.  A few dollars over $12 won't be a problem, we don't go for high end whisky etc.

This is on the FAQs on the Aus site:

* What’s changing with Princess Plus and Princess Premier?
We’re adding great features to both! Effective 16/12/22 on sailings 20/02/23 and onward, Princess Plus will now include premium desserts, and fitness classes while Princess Premier will offer all these, reserved theatre seating and a Medallion accessory. The cost changes as well: now $65 per day for Plus, $95 per day for Premier.

* Will I receive the new perks if I purchased Princess Plus or Premier at the old rate of $50/$85 per day?
You can absolutely upgrade to the new perks at the new price! If you do not wish to upgrade, you can enjoy the package with the original perks as you initially purchased them.

Princess plus package should give you $15 per drink limit

I asked at Crooner's how to speak with the manager.

A lot of us are not happy to see @GoDucksNation make that post. Suffice to say you can gamble in the casino - either slots or tables - by charging your stake money or chips to the cabin account. You need to play for a while, you can then cash out the balance which may or may not include winnings.  (This is a topic we don't get into much here).

Thank you for making that clear. I certainly appreciate the "heads up" about it. I always consider myself lucky if I can "cash out" on any winnings since Princess Casino usually gets more than a pound of flesh out of my attempts to make big money! big money!

Thank you all for your comments, feedback and insights. This is a great community for learning about and enjoying cruising even more.

I just had an interesting chat with the Medallion Class Support Team on 1300551853, I called from Australia. Option 2 takes you to the right people. The team member's voice sounded like coming from inside a coke can and was difficult to understand at first but improved as the call continued. I was asking about continually being bounced between green and blue lanes in ocean ready.

My Ocean Ready was indeed complete and I was informed it must be a "glitch" on their end.

My request has been referred to a " higher level" but I was to rest assured all would be fixed !

We will see. Cheers, Buzz.

Back to green today, 13th March. Cheers, Buzz.

Please can you direct me to where I can find this in writing, ie somewhere that states that when I booked it was a $12 limit but is now $15?

I would say the date you purchased the package (perhaps when you booked the reservation) if the terms were $12 limit that's what's in writing. You can upgrade to the current Princess Plus by paying the difference between what it cost at the time it was purchased and what it is today after the increase in benefits. Remember, it's not just going from $12 to $15 per drink....it's also including the twoice cream specialty desserts and two fitness classes. All though....I'm hearing the ice cream specialty desserts currently on the Island Princess World cruise are a complete bust!!!

I forgot to mention, you also would get the unlimited juice bar upgrading to the new and improved Princess Plus package with drinks up to $15.

Not true.  Some posters have provided screen prints of their Travel Summary Special Services Section with the re-titled Plus Package name.  Others have provided screen prints of their Travel Summary Payments (and Packages) Section with the description of the items in their current package with specific notation that drinks up to $15 are included but items listed as new are not.

For example, we purchased Princess Plus exactly 2 years ago for our upcoming April cruise at a price of $40 per day/per person.  This is our current record in the Cruise Personalizer.  We are entitled to everything in the current Princess Plus package except the NEW items.  It couldn't be clearer.

HiCCCs and Capriccio

Thanks for your comments but this is what I'm seeing several times on this thread, one person says the Plus Beverage limit will automatically increase from $12 to $15, another that if you booked at $12, that's what you'll get.  And, yes, others have posted proof that their limit has gone up to $15.  Ours remains at $12 in our booking.

I do tend to think if you booked at $12, that is what you'll get.  We mostly drink wine, the odd martini now and again but no high end liquor, so won't be paying for the upgrade as I doubt it would be worth it.  Those desserts in the upgraded Plus don't do anything for me!  And if one indulged in them, one would no doubt need more than the two fitness classes per cruise to remove the evidence from the hips!!

If you look at the variius threads, and numerous posts, on the subject,  you will see that you are are wrong. The screenshot in #4865 could not be clearer. How much more evidence do you want ?

There’s no need to be snarky.  I want to see this evidenced in our own booking. I do not see that same screenshot.
There are numerous posts on this thread with varying reports, just look at the two I quoted above.

For sure, Cruisingaussies!!! ....I would want to see this evidenced in my own booking, too.

In fact, I'm running into a similar problem which is frustrating. Currently on Princess Medallion it shows we only have Princess Plus but we upgraded to Princess Premiere when the enhancements first came out for our upcoming Panama Canal in April. Take a look at that screen shot!!! It's neither true...nor can Princess seem to do anything about it. They just say, "It will fix itself." Right! Just like a flat tire on my car "fixes itself".  I cannot update my address or my emergency contact on the Medallion. We all know the reality...we'll end up waiting in line at Guest Services for them to clean up the mess....but that is a waste of precious cruise time.

Same here. I called Customer Service and asked which package I had and they stated Premiere. On my “Dine my way” it shows 2 Specialty Dining credits, so it makes me feel better that I am indeed Premiere in the system. 🤞🏻Hopefully the same for everyone caught in the Matrix.

When you go to the personalizer and attempt to upgrade to Plus what shows up on your screen ? On mine it shows $15 and it tells me if I want the NEW items which are shown as desserts, fitness classes and juice bar I have to pay more

OK.....dumb question (or two).......

Can you just keep the Medallion in your pocket like a coin, and will it still work? Or do you have to take it out each time to use it?

I don't wear a watch as I don't like anything on my wrists, and I don't want a lanyard dangling around my neck. Soooo......can it be used if it's in your pocket?

Yes, that's exactly what I did last week on the Regal. But quite frankly, most of the wait staff and servers kept asking for our cabin number and never scanned the medallion. Only used the medallion to enter the MDR at dinner and when getting on and off the ship.
