Good morning, all!  Another week to get through and stay cool...  We're supposed to go up to around 25 today, which isn't bad.  I have watering to do.  Nice to see one of our ships in Fort Lauderdale, getting ready, I hope, to sail with passengers soon.

 

We went to Leon from Corinto, too, with Jacqui's tour.  I remember Leon as being very hot, too, and a lady on the steps of the church offered me $100 for my umbrella.  I think it was a joke - I certainly laughed, and she didn't get my umbrella!

It's been many years since Pauline wore a bikini as she always preferred a classic costume with matching wrap before she got a basal cell skin cancer and she refrains from lying in the sun now.

We have never been to today's port as most of our cruises have been Mediterranean with a couple of Caribbean,a Bahamas and an Hawaii cruise mixed in.

Today we went to the beach and had a short walk.

We then went to a garden centre and now we are sitting in our garden.

Thanks Rich and all Dailyites. General Tso is my favorite Chinese meal and I think I will get a package out of the freezer and have it for dinner tonight. This port was one of the ports that was most educational for my granddaughter. We walked off the beaten path and I think it was the first time that she had been exposed to that level of poverty.  We found some of the best bananas at one of the little local shops as we were walking around and everybody got one.  There were stray dogs everywhere and glass on the cobblestone streets. For safety we carried my service dog taking turns.

Good morning everyone and Happy Monday. Today is the paid holiday for the 4th since it fell on a Sunday. I worked for a workaholic for 10 years and would have to convince her every year about getting a paid holiday if it fell on the weekend. Each time it happened she would act surprised that anyone should ever get an extra day off. She didn’t care, and we would have to work anyway. I remember patients asking “are you really open, it’s a holiday?”  I’d have to then convince them that, yes, we were. Her mantra is “I’ll sleep when I die”!

 

 Thank you for the Daily Rich and thank you for your lists Roy. Praying for @mamaofami for help with the health care system and continuing healing for Sam. 
 

I have not been to today’s port and glad I haven’t. 😉

 

We have had today’s meal suggestion but I’ve never made it from scratch. It’s a popular frozen meal at TJ’s. Today Craig is grilling a steak. And Safeway had a free 10# bag of potatoes so I’ll make something with those too. And corn was a penny for the first five so we’ll have that also.

Flash Flood Warning in North West, Florida and nothing to do with Tropical Storm Elsa. Always good for our local merchants as it definitely is not a beach day so tourist shop and fine alternative entertainment which keeps us local’s away! The Emerald Coast is loaded with summer vacationers.

 

Pop Pop just subscribed to the Disney Channel and after a few more games and Legos will have in house movie classics and pop corn.

I've never seen bindweed (had to look it up), but we've got creeping bellflower in our daylily patch that I keep ripping it out by the handful.  

 

Can you please forward some of the rain a little eastward?  We could certainly use it.  Congrats on your DS getting his second jab today . . . hopefully he won't have any ill effects from it.

I discovered it’s not bindweed, thankfully.

 

I think (?) it’s Bishops weed.  It looked like a cross between that and Creeping Charlie.

 

it is taking some digging to get out but I will persevere (I hope).

Riffing on the "toilet and sink showroom," quite a few years ago, on a business trip to Wisconsin, the local rep suggested that I stay at the American Club in the town of Kohler.  I can assure you that the American Club is an outstanding facility--terrific rooms and terrific dining facilities.  It was disappointing that my stay was so short.  I was very very impressed by the bathroom facilities in my room--very modern and very attractive.  It turns out that every residence in the American has a uniquely designed and appointed bathroom--the better to show off the products of the local Kohler Company.

Every time I've sailed sailed the west coast of Central American [4-5 times - Corinto has been on our itinerary [all BHBs] except last time on Zaandam From my notes --  SUN 22APR18 Corinto, Nicaragua 9:00am 5:00pm    CANCELLED - [Political Unrest] 

 

It seems strange you have never been there.
