Mask enforcement on current cruises

Is it strict (airline) or Joe’s bar and grill enforcement (basically none)

Carnival has security guards dressed in black with white letting saying security stationed at elevators and at some indoor venues, at least last week on vista. As you enter they make you put your mask on. 

 

It's only been for a few days on vista and just starting last weekend on other ships. Waiting for flights to break out.

According to someone on the Horizon currently, everyone is smoking in the casino with masks down their chins. No policing going on.

where did you find information from someone on the Horizon? I am going next week and super concerned about over policing about masks and would love to hear a first hand experience as to how its going. thanks!

If they enforce it like they do other policies (chair hogs, kids in the adult pool) enforcement will be scarce at best!

I have 5 friends on the Horizon at this moment. Since I'll be boarding in 2 weeks  they're sending me all kinds of information and updates.

Incorrect. There's supposed to be a smoking and a non smoking area. Now it's all smoking.

I'm on Horizon now. Bought the 24 hour internet so I probably won't be around for many follow up questions but i can confirm that while most are wearing their mask....it is no big deal if you are not.

 

There are signs in the elevators and entrances to most venues but it is self policed and no scary security posted up like I hear on vista.

 

The buffet is the strictest spot. They have staff (in lido uniforms not security) at the entrance presumably to ask you to wear a mask if you don't have one on.

 

I have seen them handing out masks to people leaving, but coming in everyone has always been masked up.

 

I do like I do at home, if people around me have them on I pull it up for their comfort level, if people around me don't or I'm not in a crowd it goes on my chin.

 

I'll be on next week as well and protocols could change at anytime if we have the health issues vista seems to be having but for now masking is about like chair hogging, it's up to you to obey the rules.

When you enter Lido there is crew at the door to check if you're masked. If not, they will give you one.

At the casino tables, it's strictly inforced. No one is checking on the elevators.

I disagree. The rules, as loose as they are defined, strictly say mask down for eating and drinking. There is absolutely nothing in the rules about removing or lowering mask to smoke.

Isn't the new non-smoking section of the casino just on a few ships right now, like Breeze has it?  Not sure if Vista or Horizon do.

 

As for full indoor smoking ban, I know Vista implemented that along with masks last week by captain's orders due to the handful of cases that were detected.  But I don't think the new mask policy on its own includes no smoking in the casino or that that smoking restriction is being applied to any sailings this week.

Horizon certainly does and I think Vista also. Both had the smokers delight casino bars removed. Too bad they were replaced with smoking machines.

The Breeze, Dream, and Magic have separate non-smoking casino areas that are away from the main casino (they converted some convention/training rooms).  On other ships there are non-smoking areas in the casino; exactly where they are depends on the specific ship and its layout.

I go on the Breeze late this month (hopefully), and in a strange way even though I don't smoke, there's something characteristic I enjoy about being in a smokey casino LOL.. definitely down to try the non-smoking room tho, especially if I can compare which area has better drink service 😁

The one on the Breeze is definitely open.  No bars in the area, though there is drink service available there. 

 

I'll have to scan reports on the Magic to see if anyone wandered there, since it just started sailing a few days ago.  The Dream isn't sailing yet, so we'll have to wait and see.

I read a reviews over on FB from people onboard the Horizon right now…..they said the staff is asking people to pull up masks in between taking sips from your drink but seemed more lax when it came to the people smoking

My understanding is that the casino is a mask required area, but you are allowed to lower your mask to smoke (in the appropriate smoking areas). Exception being the Vista that went full non-smoking. So people smoking in the casino (in the supposed smoking areas) with their masks around their chin while smoking are not breaking any rules.

Just saw a video from the Horizon Piano Bar and only saw one set of guest in the room wearing mask....all others none....they have table chairs for two, so I fell that's safe and distanced, but going in and out, mine will be on....sailed her on July 24th and coming back Oct. 30th.......

That solves it - I'll take up smoking for the week...generics cigs will be fine I suppose.

Bubble gum cigarettes, chocolate ones, and of course the original sugar ones... lots of good options without needing to vape. 😜

I am on the Vista right now. I have not seen anyone enforcing mask mandates in elevators, lido or lounges. The cruise director makes announcements but the ignorance of some people prevail.
