Will the current lockdowns impact the restart of cruising here?

Recommended Posts

I have been missing seeing the cruise ships docked at Circular Quay when I used to travel into the city on the weekends.  Now I am simply missing seeing Sydney Harbour.

I have been enjoying reading the posts on the Royal Carribbean forum from those  onboard  current cruises.  With the situation in Sydney getting worse, those posts are providing a small amount of pleasure.

From the book of faces.

“All of regional NSW will go into a 7 day lockdown from 5pm tonight until next Saturday evening.”

Wow I didn’t expect that. Just demonstrates how serious the situation is!

Too many people escaping from the cities into Regional Areas, so they just shut the whole state down.

I am appalled and a little embarrassed to be a Sydneysider right about now.  Our local Anytime Fitness has been shut so all the trainers took up an entire quiet side of our local park for their PT sessions. Tempted to be THAT person and dob them in.

ACT had 19 overnight, makes 28 active cases, still more to  come as there is over 6000 close contacts, due to 4 schools now being involved. Also a case in a aged care facility..

Our lockdown being extended for another v2 weeks :(

Do it, it is affecting more than just Sydney, NT going into lockdown.

Thanks all, wasn't sure who to dob them into but will try Crime Stoppers. I'm going to the park again on Friday and if they're still there, I'll try and take a video and submit an online report.

A curfew, 9:00pm to 5:00am each day, is to be implemented in Victoria from tonight. I am hoping NSW will follow suit.🤔 Somehow, I doubt it. ☹️

I doubt it too.

The glad wrap is still spouting how some restrictions  will be eased once there were 6m vaxes done

I cannot see it changing much. A few changes around inoculated workers, maybe. It is out of control in NSW.😡

She's crazy! Vaxes aren't going to stop the spread as well as she expects. She still seems to think she's dealing with the original strain, not Delta.

Chin up Don... no comfort I'm sure,  but it could be worse! Remember we're all in this together. Well except for the ones who won't follow the rules I guess.

I'm not sure of how a curfew makes a difference when people should be at home in any case, and I'm sure you're not out after 9pm anyway.

Anyway, when all this is over I hope to shout you a glass or two. Stay safe mate. Cheers

Don, I think most of us are over it but what can we do except follow the CHO intructions. We managed to get through last year and we will again. Many of us are missing special celebrations and even just missing  seeing our families is difficult but we will get there.

A local MP who I follow on FB put up the new restrictions after the Premier's press conference. One of the new restrictions is that play eqipment in parks is not to be used (too difficult to keep cleaned) and because of the ridiculous number of people who visited the parks and family groups meeting up who were eating and drinking, socialising without masks and no social distancing. Anyway, he was being accused of child abuse not by one but three people because their children won't be able to use the play equipment for two weeks. They conveniently forgot it was exactly the same last year and it wasn't until restrictions were started to be lifted that play grounds were able to be used.

Then we have the fall of Kabul to the Taliban and goodness knows what will happen to the people, particularly the women and girls.

Sorry rant over!

We need something like that here in Sydney. Reportedly large family groups are picnicking in parks, play areas are busy, beaches are crowded.

It wasn't too bad in Lane Cove this afternoon when I took my laptop in for repair. The council had taped off the seats - although someone had carefully moved the tape across the front of two of them to the back. I couldn't see the kids play areas but it seemed quiet.

The news last night showed parks around Melbourne packed with people, play equipment filled with children and no masks or social distancing.
