Good morning, all rabbits!  Here's hoping for good things for September.  Although, now that the US has told people not to visit us here in Canada, I'm not sure what is going to be happening.  My Seattle cousin should be in the States now, from Reykjavik, and she is supposed to be coming to visit here later this month, I don't know what she will do.  We had booked our clubhouse for the family party, and we have now been advised that it will be masks only.  We are definitely having a surge, and things may start to shut down again.  What a life!  At least we are expecting/hoping for some rain tomorrow or Friday.

@msmayor, congratulations Grandma!

@smitty34877, I think often of Tana and what she is going through,.  You are such a great support!  I don't know if it's a good idea or not, but when this pandemic started, DD bought some battery-powered oximeters online.  I do check occasionally, is it something they want her to monitor?

@JAM37, glad your DH is improving, bit by bit!

@mamaofami, I'm happy the aide is working out, and your DH is improving, too.

@Sharon in AZ - love the food porn, I'm hungry just looking at it!

@bennybear, amazing hailstorm!

The doctor thinks Pat's arm problem is rotator cuff, he is going to get some physio. I told him the golf caused it....

A week today one of my stamp clubs starts up again.  I spent most of yesterday phoning everyone (and  a lot of time catching up) and telling them the rules at the senior centre, masks, vaccinations, etc.  Now I'm wondering if it will happen.  I guess I'm being a Debbie Downer today.  I guess I should go and make a lasagna!  We had cherry pastries yesterday.  We are going to try a new rose wine this evening, it's on sale again, and if we like it, we'll go and stock up.

Good morning. Travel day today.

I had made my appt with covidclinic.org at the airport. My appt was 9am and got there a few minutes early, even after passing it (website said it was in Parking Lot 3 but DH saw a sign for Parking Lot 2) and then passing it again once we were in the correct parking lot (the sign said “exit only” but he nice parking attendant had me back up and turn around). The testing site itself was very well organized. Only 3 cars ahead of me. A gentleman asked for my confirmation number, then a woman came out with my rapid antigen test kit AND PCR test kit (apparently I had signed up for a free test). I was directed around the tent to medical personnel who performed both tests and I was on my way at 9:05am.

I dropped off my bags, went through security (love TSA Precheck!), got my coffee and danish and I’m waiting at the gate.

I was waiting for my results by text (I had to verify both cell phone and email address twice) but I read the confirmation text incorrectly. It said I’d receive my results via email. So I looked and the results for the rapid antigen came in at 9:15am: Negative! 😄

Getting ready to board the plane.

@sailingdutchymy birthday is April 8, and I celebrated it twice on Maasdam in 2017.

Here is the first April 8 as I made my way to breakfast.  We walk the stairs and don't take elevators but since they weren't busy at the moment we took a photo of the Saturday day of the week mat. 00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIvDunAxJRacl-3KZJfGrrU?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1493591245

The next morning we did the same thing.  It's one of the few times a staff member doesn't have to switch out the day of the week mat.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKn7GGiiq03LbdoqfTWMdJC?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1493592098

When crossing the Date Line westbound, I wonder if a crew member is there to immediately change it forward to the next day upon crossing. Has anyone witnessed that?

Good afternoon.  Looks like it might start raining soon.  Probably about the time I leave for my dental appointment (just a cleaning).  No matter when it rains, it will be most welcome.

Had a return from cruise COVID test this morning.  Tried for yesterday, but no appointments.  Just taking this one to make sure all is okay.  No rapid tests were available, so I did the saliva one again!  Will be interesting to see how fast I get the results.  Was 26 hours on pre-cruise test.  I hate to have the dental appointment before I get the results, but this appointment was re-scheduled and quite hard to get set up!

@msmayorsuch a happy piece of news.  Grandchildren are the best!

@smitty34877, it sounds like a rough day for both you and Tana.  Hope that pulmo rehab helps her build up her stamina.  That rehab is taxing!!

Now, I feel cheated.  We crossed the International Date Line in 2011 on a BHB, but no certificate!  Of course, it wasn't very memorable, as about 85% of ship's passengers were sick, and those of us not sick were just trying to stay upright between point A and point B!

Hope the rest of the day is good for everyone!

Thanks for the food porn 👍

@cat shepard  I think yours is the first appliance that could be fixed.   Motherboards can get expensive, can't they?

We've been lucky, when both the refrigerator here and the one in Quartzsite quit working,  DH was able to order the boards on Amazon and fixed both of them.  It's nice to have a handy engineer around the house to do repairs.  He immediately reordered the parts as insurance.   The parts were not cheap, but as @cat shepard said, a lot less than a refrigerator.

When we got home last spring, we also managed to fix the broken water line to the ice maker and water dispenser by shortening it.  Luckily, there was enough extra line to make that possible.

I hope @cat shepard along with our luck are starting a new trend in foiling the appliance curse.

We had a crazy huge hail storm,  shredded many plants, but the peppers are safe beside the house.   although the ones I moved by the house two weeks earlier are flowering but.  But the others, maybe by Christmas?

Wow on your hail  😡 Thanks for the reminder.  I better move my chilies that aren’t close to the house closer to protect them from Ida’s torrential rain that is coming.

Does your weather stay that good until Christmas?  I am jealous 😉

Wow, that's a lot of hail!

Meanwhile, around here, flood waters are receding. But this school bus got caught up in it this morning.

Glad the water is receding, but that is still a lot of water.    Looks like they got everyone out of the bus safely.

No, I haven't seen it.  I'm sure they need to do the changing out during the night so they don't tie up any elevators.  That's how they do it daily and in special circumstance like the one you pointed out, they can't be delaying the guests.

Unless you have a LOT of sun inside, I fear you will be wasting your energy 😔. I leave mine out until the temps get too low.  Then I move them in the house overnight and back outside when the temp is good enough.

I usually have all my chilies harvested before the first frost 🤞

Sadly, I won’t be able to move the ones in the planter under the window so I just have o hope and protect as much as I can.  It’s worked in the past.

I don't think so.  I've had my GPS out and taken note of when we actually crossed the dateline but the ship just stays on one day all day and then skips a day the next day.

Good morning from central Texas.

I love fresh cherries, but not so much in pies, etc.  My DF tried to teach me chess, but we finally went back to checkers.  😁  I used to write weekly letters to DF and DFIL when the DDs were little.  Overtime as my handwriting got harder to read and with the advent of computers, I would send typed letters. I continued the letters until both fathers and both step-mothers died, as they preferred letters to email.

Today, according to @rafinmd Roy, we attained 54 years of marriage, as we will celebrate our 54th anniversary tomorrow.  BTW, in Texas don't get married on the opening day of dove season.  The wives and daughters of my parents friends attended the late aternoon wedding reception, but the husbands and sons were out hunting.  At least, DF skipped opening day that year.  🤣

I do like the quote by Ole Blue Eyes.

It's been a while since I made lasagna, either classic or vergertarian.  We'll skip the drink and the wine.

By my count, we have crossed the International Date Line by plane or ship at least 18 times, but only twice on a BHB.  Unlike Crossing the Line (Equator), we never had a ceremony, but received a certificate.

@smitty34877  Terry, while the pulmonary therapy sounds like it will tough, I hope it will help Tana regain strength and some independence.  As has been said before, she is very lucky to have your family helping her.  Take care of yourself, too.

@JAM37  Glad your DH feels stronger.

@mamaofami  Carol, hope Sam gets a good report from the cardiologist.  Glad the aide is working out.

@Horizon chaser 1957  That was a clever idea to repurpose the fish poacher.  I can''t wait to see the results after you use it.

Lenda

Wishing you both a wonderful 54th wedding anniversary tomorrow.

That is amazing.

Best wishes.

Graham & Pauline.
