Just  curious  about the latest you  found out  when  you got an assignment,  thank you

We received our cabin assignment after starting the land portion of our cruise tour. Fortunately it was in time to send one of our large checked bags ahead to the ship since we were staying two nights in Fairbanks. Before another Alaskan cruise, we received it on Thursday for a Saturday sailing. We had flown to Seattle on Wednesday and just asked a porter for luggage tags for our checked bags when we got to the pier.

At noon the day before embarkation. We were actually in the air to the port city when the assignment was made.

Anyone who found out their assignment at the pier most likely had it assigned earlier, but did not check for the assignment via computer or phone that morning or possibly the evening before.

The only reason for responding "at the pier" is not checking the Personalizer (or hopefully MC App) each day.  If not checking the booking, then it could be a surprise at the pier.  The assignment is actually made prior to check-in day.

On our first Princess cruise I checked for room assignments just before leaving for the pier and there were none, but 15 minutes later they had them at the pier.

Once, our cabin assignment changed from the time we left our home and drove to the pier.  Our bags had the "old" cabin assignment tags and we were told that they would find their way to our "new" cabin. By 7:00 pm our bags had not arrived. We went to our "old" cabin and our bags were outside their door.

In the end it all worked out and the new cabin was an upgrade, balcony to a mini.

Not Princess but just to say how late it can be .....

Our first suite cruise (a GTY on RC Oasis when it was brand-new) was a complete mystery till after we boarded. We met with a Priority Boarding lady just outside the port, followed her through the port, onto the ship, and straight to the door of a Loft Suite. Oh so cool.
