AncientWanderer Posted October 7, 2021 #52 Share Posted October 7, 2021 OMG...crazy news here on the Daily today. @smitty34877Terry, what next? That angel of yours looks like such a little trooper. Hopefully she heals very quickly. Your DDIL certainly has her hands full. I hope your son gets well quickly and the family is healthy again. @Tbay, very sad news as well that your DH is having to "suffer twice" from his awful disease. My handsome, kind and sweet cousin is having a similar experience. Praying that any setback your DH is having will be very brief indeed. The collection of days is kinda random. Isn't it nice that bald is embraced these days. One of the daytime talk shows years ago (Merv Grffin?) had a "get rid of the combover" day and they gave the guys in the audience shaved heads instead. They all looked good! I had a pasty chef friend who actually baked me a Paris Brest for my birthday. That memory brings a big smile. Not your typical birthday cake. I just saw @Horizon chaser 1957's quote about forgiveness and drinking poison. Great quote and very true. Sometimes it's hard to forgive, but the alternative is probably worse. Everyone, thanks for your contributions here. We're all packed and ready for a quick drive this weekend to port of San Diego to meet the Koningsdam and some Daily friends. These one-week cruises are so hectic that everyone has to talk fast when they meet. But it's still wonderful to see one another, nonetheless. Wishing all a pleasant and safe day. 😊 🍂 🎃 Maxine 23

aliaschief Posted October 7, 2021 #54 Share Posted October 7, 2021 Good morning! The beauty of a sea day was that I chose to sleep in. Dined in Tamarind last night and it was fantastic as usual. Today we are having our M&G in the BB King lounge. If everyone shows up it’s going to be a packed house. After we left San Diego last night the ship had it’s annual compass calibration so we went in circles for awhile. Of course in the pitch dark we never noticed. Captain stated could take a couple hours. Calm seas and warm enough to enjoy our balcony.I This cruise is running smoothly and it’s a happy crew that’s making it happen. 21

bennybear Posted October 7, 2021 #59 Share Posted October 7, 2021 Good morning and thanks all! Love that wine! Lenda, what great photos! Thank you! I’m loving the photo of the Slovenian castle, we were only 4 hours in Koper so no time to go anywhere too far, next time I hope! @smitty34877 so sorry to hear your west. Your poor DGD, hope she heals quickly! And hope your DS has only mild symptoms. @ger_77safe travels! A question for those who’ve had the high dose flu shot, any impact on Covid boosters? Also wondering the type of reaction to the booster? Hoping we can get one before too long. The birds are getting ready for their travels! 15
lindaler Posted October 7, 2021 #60 Share Posted October 7, 2021 (edited) I am packed and even have room for a "change my mind" outfit. Done the health thing and now to just get through the next three days. Wasn't there an experiment that said time does slow down when it is within a certain time of going on a cruise? And then speeds up when you are on board? Thanks Rich and Roy and all who add to this post. I will try to stay in touch but if the CC gremlins get me, know that I will be able to read all the posts over my morning coffee. My sweet husband got his Moderna booster and I think a week later had his flu shot. No symptoms at all. Not even a tender spot. Something funny, the man ahead of us was asked which arm he wanted his shot in. He said he didn't care, and had clean underwear if he needed a shot in his keister. We over heard the pharmacist retelling the story and they all had a big laugh. 10
kb4683 Posted October 7, 2021 #62 Share Posted October 7, 2021 @bennybear We had the Pfizer booster and the hi-dose the same day, last Saturday, no ill effects. Weren’t even tired like after the second Pfizer. Booster in left arm, flu hi-dose in right. 11

Also wondering the type of reaction to the booster? Our PCP said that medically we could have both our high dose flu shot and our Pfizer booster on the same day. But, due to DH's other health issues, PCP suggested DH have them on two different days so that, if he did have a reaction, we'd know which was the culprit. We had our flu shots Thursday in right arm and Pfizer boosters the following Monday in left arm. And, neither of us had any reactions - other than being very thankful for medical science and our health care providers. Hoping your experience is similar.
Sea Viewer Posted October 7, 2021 #64 Share Posted October 7, 2021 Hello everyone, Spending the day at Cozumel. There are 3 other ships here, but it is really quiet in town. I am enjoying the cruise and feel comfortable with the new guidelines. The entertainment has been amazing, last night there was new show and the level of music and dancing was probably the best I've ever seen on a cruise ship. Thanks @rafinmd for including me in the celebration list , it's working I'm enjoying myself. Mary 17
JazzyV Posted October 7, 2021 #65 Share Posted October 7, 2021 Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily. Interesting days. Thankfully I'm not bald; many men look great bald. I walked to school from elementary through high school. Forgiveness and happiness are important every day. Funny quote. I like the meal and drink. The wine sounds good too. I've been to France, but haven't been to today's port. Thanks for the pictures. Late again today. The Geek Squad was here this morning to look at my TV. The panel can't be replaced, so under my extended protection plan I'm getting a replacement. Then I ran to PT. I'll only need one more session, then just continue the exercises at home. Then once back home, I've been on the phone to get the replacement tv installation scheduled. @Tbay Sorry to hear of your husband's back and leg issues and I hope something can be done for it. @smitty34877 Oh, I'm sad to hear your news. I hope DS continues to feel well. Poor DGD on breaking her wrists. Prayers for both. @ger_77 Safe travels and enjoy the visit with family. @bennybear I had a similar reaction to the booster (Moderna) as to my 2nd shot. A sore arm, and a day of fatigue, headache and chills. Then felt fine. I was able to get Moderna under the immunocompromised access. I'm scheduling the high dose flu shot in the next week or so. Last year's was fine with no symptoms. Prayers for the care list and cheers for the celebration list. Stay safe everyone. 13

Mainly a sore arm and the site warm to hot to the touch for a couple of days. I think that means it was building anti-botdies. The next Tuesday, we had our Pfizer booster, and the pharmacist told us there was no problem getting both either together or just a few days apart. Again, a slightly sore are, and DH had a very mild reaction. Lenda

I'm more into Crystal and HAL but my favorite RCI ships are the Vision and Radiance classes. Roy
Mr. Boston Posted October 7, 2021 #68 Share Posted October 7, 2021 (edited) Good evening all. Today is a picture perfect New England day, almost summer like. Quartzsite Cruiser Posted October 7, 2021 #69 Share Posted October 7, 2021 Today's trip into Waco turned out to be a quick one. We got all our errands run, and I even found a shirt on sale. Now, we can concentrate on finihing getting ready for our trip to Quartzsite for the winter. The majority of non-essentials are already on the motorhome, and my list is shrinking. @Mr. Boston Thank you for the pictures. @JazzyV Vanessa, you must lead a somewhat charmed life since your tv died while still under warranty. 😉 Glad the PT is working and that you have just one more session. @ger_77 Gerry, enjoy your visit with the family, and we'll look forward to your report when you get home. I'm just wondering if it varies by which Covid vaccine is involved. I think Canada is using the AstroZenica vaccine (among others) so if that's what you got the experience of those of us in the US may not be relevant. bennybear Posted October 7, 2021 #72 Share Posted October 7, 2021 (edited) Thanks to all who answered. I really appreciate the info. I had the pneumonia shot this week, high dose next week and will need Pfizer Covid booster as well as a cortisone shot all in the same arm, so trying to balance the timing. Feeling like a human pincushion. @rafinmd the majority have had Pfizer here, Moderna next and then Astra Zeneca and the Johnson. JazzyV Posted October 7, 2021 #73 Share Posted October 7, 2021 (edited) @Mr. Boston Great photos. It looks idyllic and lovely there. @Quartzsite Cruiser The TV is about 4 years old. When I bought it it was considered state of the art, so I got an extended 5 year warranty just in case. They will bring out the new one and wall mount it, plus I get a newer comparable TV since that one is no longer made. lazey1 Posted October 7, 2021 #74 Share Posted October 7, 2021 To all of you who were able to get the Moderna booster I have a question. How did you manage to get it. I am 80, my 2nd Moderna jab was in Feb. I have COPD and my pharmacist tells me that he can not yet give the Moderna boosters. Ha has them available but is apparently awaiting clearance from the CDC. Todays meal with today's wine sound lovely as long as someone else does the cooking. The photos from Boston are lovely. Thank you for posting. I have not seen lace curtains in houses since I was a young child. Getting my Covid test tomorrow and hopefully will be on the ship Sunday.
