"Have It All" promotion & Mariner Points?

Good day,

Apologies if this has been addressed before.

We are considering resuming cruising next year and have been pricing some various HAL itineraries getting both the standard fare as well as a fare that includes the Have It All promotion pricing.

Does someone know for certain if the Have It All promotion fee would qualify for Mariner Society points?

It seems that, if one were to purchase the HIAP inclusions on board, those costs would qualify - drinks, excursions, WiFi, specialty restaurants - so it would seem somewhat logical that the HIAP fee would also qualify for Mariner points. Please advise.

No information on this is included on the Mariner FAQ page.

Thanks in advance for any definitive you can provide.

Happy sailing.

Absolutely, fellow Canadian 🙂   I had the old Explore4 before covid and got full credit.  Reports have already come in that it is the same with the HIA. 🙂

It’s all good 👍

It would be nice if HAL brought back the ppd gratuities along with these perks  .Perhaps a new sale in the future may  have the ppd gratuities   included

There was a promotion not long ago that included gratuities....booked my cruise in February with gratuities included.

We made a booking just last month for a spring 2022 cruise and the gratuities were included -- along with reduced deposit and just about everything else.  That promotion still pops up now and then.

Hope to know within the next few days!

We have just ended a cruise with HIA.  Interestingly, the price of drinks has not posted to the folio, whereas on previous cruises with free drinks, the value did post to the folio and then a credit to remove it.

It should be easy enough to calculate how they are calculating the credits when the cruise posts to our mariners account.

Thanks, everyone,

VMax1700, please keep us posted when you see your updated Mariner account to confirm whether or not the HIA added credits as a Mariner. (We followed & enjoyed your postings from the Eurodam. Thanks)

I have spoken to HAL today and was told that since the HIA promo is an element of the cruise fare, that extra (HIA) cost is not eligible for is not eligible for Mariner Society points/credits. I know that the answers from HAL sometimes vary depending on who's at their end of the line.

Cheers!

Doubtful.   I watched a travel agent promo produced by HAL.  They promote HIA as a way to boost agent’s commissions.   That leads me to believe it is strictly considered a fare not an expenditure.  I would be happy to be proven wrong

The Mariner credits posted to our account today.

We were in a Signature Suite for a 12 day cruise - so that is 12 days x 2 (suite) = 24 credits.

We had OBC of $500 and the amount charged to my credit card at the end of the cruise was $62, so total spend was $562 meaning I would have expected 2 credits for on board spending.  However we have received 12 (twelve) Onboard Spending Credits for a Grand Total of 36 credits!!

At the moment, I cannot get my head around how the Onboard Spending credit is calculated.  The numbers suggest 10 credits x $300 = $3000 implied additional Onboard Spend by using HIA.

Thank you for confirming. 👍

So, things seem unchanged since B.C. (Before Covid).  When I had Explore4 I encountered the same credit treatment for my Mariner days.

Much appreciated from you 🙂

I don't have HIA for next month (8-day shortened Eurodam 11/16 sailing) but do in December for 12 days on Nieuw Amsterdam.  This is good to know.  I should be 3* after that.  No big deal, but the discount on the wine packages and specialty dining will come in handy for my bare-bones B2B Alaska casino fare I plan to book.

Ours posted today, too.  We disembarked on Sunday, October 17,  just so folks know they are getting them posted in a timely manner. They were generous in their calculation, as usual.  I never can figure it out.  There are too many things that may have been included to even try to sort it out.

I'm pleased because it now shows exactly seven days needed to five-star.  That's covered with our paid-and-ready-to-go cruise to Mexico in January.  I'd hoped to be five-star before our next long cruise -- just because.

YAY 🙂. You’ll be 5* for Norway 😄

I have never been able to figure out their calculation as it always seems more generous than the $300/day even when combining all the folios. Hopefully they continue this as I am 2 cruises away from 4 star if they continue the pattern.

Just got off the Koningsdam 7 day.  We had the HIA package and therefore spent nothing for on board spending.  We got 7 nights credit for On board Spending!  The HIA package is the way to go!

Did your HIA have Staff Incentive included or was that charged to your onboard folio?  I know its only a hundred dollars or so for 7 night, but it does seem that they are giving 1 days credit for one day sailing with HIA.

Wondering if anyone can answer a question.  We are doing 91 days on a b2b2b2b in a suite.  Is each segment of this cruise considered a separate cruise and will we get to a new star level during the cruise.  We should be 4 star by the 3rd leg of the trip.

Are your bookings one booking number, or multiple?

Normally, points credit within a few days after getting off the ship, and that is when you promote. There is an exception, if you are on a Grand Voyage or World Cruise.

Occasionally you will hear of exceptions and promotions granted during a cruise, but ONLY if earned on cruise day credits, not on spending credits. Don't know how Suite credits play into the advanced promotions.

How far away far away are you?  Will just the Sea Days do it?

I know the on board spending won’t count but where you are in a suite, I would call the Mariner Society to ask.  I have seen people upgraded on longer cruises but you need to talk to the Society (and get something in writing).

I don’t know if Suite time counts or not while you are on board but since it’s an automatic credit, it’s worth asking.

I can tell you DH got his 5* pin on board after our 8th day and I did nothing for that.  since I was already 5* he had all my benefits 😉

Definitely call Mariner Society.  We had a similar situation and they were very helpful.  Our long cruise was booked as one booking, but could just as easily have been booked in separate parts.  They put a note in our booking to step us up to next star level at an appropriate segment.  We did have to go to the service desk onboard to remind them, but we did receive our new benefits for the remainder of our cruise.

For a 91-day cruise, hard to imagine they wouldn't work with you on this.

Edit to add I agree with kazu's comments above about actual sea days vs points for onboard spending.  The accounting department isn't really swift enough to work out the onboard spending, but if the actual sea days get you to another star level, I'm betting it will work out for you.
