I used to wonder how in the sam hill does one hit a deer?!! Couldn't they just avoid it?!!

Until I hit one!! OMG!! The poor thing literally jumped in front of my car from out of the dark and I had zero time to react!! The front end of my car was badly damaged. Two good points from this, my insurance said they would fully cover the repairs with no deductible; the other good point is that Bambi jumped up out of the ditch and ran away!!

Bad enough hitting a Deer, but have seen some really bad Damage in Maine (thankfully not us) from Moose being hit on the highway....and pretty bad in Alaska too.  😮   First Moose we saw in Alaska...I was shocked.  I knew they were big...but WOW!!

When I lived in NE PA, deer whistles were a common thing.  The wind blowing through them is supposed to create a sound above the human hearing range but that deer could hear.  Supposedly would scare them away as your car approached.  Not sure that they really work.

Never heard of that. I grew up in SW PA.

Amazon wasn't  around when I grew up.  ,No internet either.  We did have a TV.  Received 3 stations.

I remember 30 or 40 years ago a moose evidently tried to jump over a car in Maine and crushed it. Killed the people in the car. 
They’re big and they’re heavy and they’re not too bright.

The newsletter we received from our insurance company last month said they don’t really work.  That was the letter reminding everyone how active the deer are in October and November. Those are the big crash months.

I forgot to mention, that in addition to the deer we hit on the way home from the airport, there were three waiting in our yard when we got home.  As Susan was backing up the driveway, one of them ran across the drive.  It might have been hard to explain a hit to the front and one to the back!!

 

Back to reality today.  Had to make my own coffee and breakfast, but lots accomplished.

 

✔️contacted insurance company.

✔️took SUV to the body shop to get things started.

✔️mail picked up.

✔️tux to the dry cleaners

✔️laundry finished

✔️water test and chemicals added to spa.

✔️picked up Christmas presents order

✔️gathered and bagged 1,500 pounds of leaves

 

Now to pour a drink and relax in the spa.  I just need someone to walk by every three minutes and ask if I need another.

We knew someone who, about 15 years ago, hit a moose.  It was bad enough with the damage to the car but to make things worse the moose had an "accident" of it's own.  The car needed some serious sanitizing besides the body work.

The local news station also had an announcement from the DEM about the activity and to use caution.  When my daughter was a new driver (of course it was the one day we took a trip to Boston) she called in tears to say a deer hit the car.  It was on a dark spooky road (no streetlights, no homes, just fields) a few minutes away.  I asked her if she stopped and she said "NO, I wasn't getting out of the car".  When I asked about the deer she said after it ran into the bumper it changed course and ran up the street in front of her and into the woods.  I picked a few tuffs of hair out of the grill when I got home.

Although it shook her up, Susan handled the vehicle exactly like she should have.

 

Lots of deer/vehicle collisions in Minnesota. We've come close several times. You don't see them till there there.

We booked a day room after our last cruise from Miami. Usually eastbound transatlantic's are late evening and it was the perfect way to spend that last day before the flight. 

The Hotel was very close to the airport with transport to the airport included. Lovely to lie by the pool, have a good lunch, a little snooze in the afternoon and shower and freshen up before the long flight home 

We will definitely do this again

Because of our flight delay, SW sent us one of their LUV vouchers for $100 yesterday. 
 

Even though that was the cost of the flight, and made it essentially free, I would have rather had the flight on time.

Just google day use hotels Fort Lauderdale, and the site listing all the hotels should be first on the results.  You can pick a hotel that suits your needs.

I think we had 26 playing, and had $470 to cash out at the end of the spins.  We cashed out of that machine and played it all on black at the roulette wheel.  So we doubled the payout from the slots, and everyone came away $16 to the good, plus a t-shirt.

Great emory & great BBQ!  We were affected by the American Airlines cancellations on Saturday.  We sat in FLL all day and were finally shuttled to Miami at about 5:00 PM for a flight the next morning.  We made it to Rochester by 2:30 PM.

Sal, plenty of deer in Texas...one time I was stopped in town on the street waiting for a small herd of them to pass in front of me. I wasn't moving at all and one of the smaller spikes just ran right into my car...was sure a dumb deer and left a large dent in the rear quarter panel...so much for avoiding them.!

They showed all the prime time games and I noticed them showing 2 games during my lunch there on Sunday.  I didn't stick around for the late games but I honestly assumed they showed 2 during that time slot. 

 

It was not crowed anytime I was there.  I didn't go during the prime time games though, just Sunday for NFL and Saturday for college.  No one was allowed at the bar but they were seated at the bartop facing the big screen across the seaplex.

 

It was nice that there were USB ports to charge your phone by the booths.

The Playmakers requires you to hold the button to keep the lift moving, and it stopped a couple of times going up.  Fortunately there was a crewmember with us. The trip back down worked well, I guess gravity helps.

The on at North Star was interesting.  There are 2 doors, one on the outside, that a crew member has to open, then the inner door could be opened.  The crewmember who was operating the ride was with us, and when we got off, he pounded on the window to the other crewmember to come open the outer door.

 

I primarily have issues walking down stairs and on one trip to Playmakers the elevator door wouldn't close and it wouldn't work.  It made it fun having to go down those stairs.
