What is one thing you wish Carnival did differently?

The "solo" cabins on NCL are overrated. In the times I have priced them out, they are barely a savings. With how few they have, on few ships, the inventory is too low for the price to be lax. Then if you do get one you have this little closet. Marketing fluff.

My wish list:

- Platinum and above includes drink vouchers like Royal does. Even if it was 1 a day, that would be huge for me.

- Bigger/better comedy club experience on bigger ships. It's a huge buzzkill to always have to battle for seats in these tiny venues.

- FTTF to include some actual priority perks. If I could reserve a chair on the lido, comedy club, and skip actual waits and lines, I would consider it.

I also agree that the loyalty should have SOME carryover to their other brands

If you need to break up the payments, you could also buy Carnival gift cards as funds allow (or put in separate savings account), then pay for Cheers with the gift cards

You could also put the drink costs on a credit card that has a payment (no interest) plan for some of the items on your monthly billing (ie AMEX, Chase Sapphire, etc.)...then you can decide how long to spread the payments out or when to pay in full.

We are almost Diamond on Carnival and almost 4 star Mariners on Holland America. HAL has so many more perks for their loyalty members. I wish Carnival would give discounts at their specialty restaurants - we receive 25% off on HAL as 3 star Mariners and will receive 50% off when we reach 4 star Mariners. On HAL, for every $300 we spend onboard we receive one sail day. Wish Carnival did that. On HAL, we receive double sailing days when we book a suite which is most of the time. Wish Carnival did that, too. When you compare the two cruise lines, Carnival is pitifully lacking in loyalty perks.

Change embarkation. I waited 45 minutes in a non-distanced line in Long Beach, with no a/c, just to get my picture taken and to swipe my passport. On RC and Princess it was done on the app, so I boarded in under 15 minutes. The other lines also use phones/ipads to avoid lines at check-in. It was a horrible start to the cruise and not one I want to repeat. What’s worse, dozens of people just got in the line for suites, with nobody checking their boarding passes, which slowed down the line for the honest people.

For the record, Long Beach is the absolute worst of all the places I have embarked.  By far.  I would not use it as the example for all Carnival ports.  I have been on 3 cruises since the pandemic and in every case, have gone from Uber to the ship in under 30 minutes.

Worst ever. Luckily only 2nd leg of breeze. TV was in a alcove so far away and smaller than normal so I couldnt hardly see it.

Had a very nice ov 1st leg. .. I post both in cabins above. I would never book this cabin again. Oct 30 Halloween cruise. Oh I forgot it had a huge double sized step up into the bathroom someone could get hurt on at 3 an.

This is the bath room step up. Idk they had big step ups but someone with a balcony also had one she was just as upset about.

Don't all cabins have a step up into the bathroom like this? Balcony cabin on Vista last month had one.  Don't recall ever having a cabin where the bathroom floor was flush (no pun intended) with the cabin floor. As much water as can get on the floor when you're taking a shower if the curtain isn't weighted down, this is probably to keep from flooding the cabin as well as the bathroom.

Photographers in the Walkways. There have been times we could not get from one venue to another due to the photo set up. BUT, as long as there are CD announcements, smoke in the casino, and too few deck chairs, there will also be photogs in the aisle. Just part of the adventure, I guess.

As I said it was double the usual step up 6 to 7 inches. I've done a lot and never had that big of a step up. Maybe you cant see well on the picture. .. it was the step up plus the silver part.

Someone mentioned a loyalty perk for pay restaurants which I'd like bogo means the person pays for one and gets one free. So carnival might get more spending on pay restaurants. Do it at diamond or add a higher level. Nothing worth shooting for.

I have emailed both Carnival and Señor Heald several times.

I want to give Carnival $100.  I want to drink Scotch on my balcony.  And I want to drink something special.  I want them to allow me to bring a bottle on board, and I will pay $100 for the privilege of doing so.  They have NOTHING i want to buy in their online shop.

It would work this way....I pay $100 and get a voucher to bring on board my bottle of Johnny Walker King George V that I paid $700 for, so I can drink it to my dad's memory on my balcony.

So I haven't been able to cruise in a while (college student on a budget, lol) so I'm pretty much limited to living viariously through photo reviews on CC.  However, this all got me thinking - what is one thing you would change about Carnival if you could?  It could be literally anything - just wanted to have a discussion.

I'll start - I wish Carnival offered solo staterooms.  I have always wanted to try a solo cruise but Carnival is pretty much one of the only major lines that doesnt seem to offer solo staterooms at this point - I wish they would include at least a few on their new ships as it's way too expensive for me to pay double occupancy!

What are some other things y'all would like to see changed going forward?  Doesn't matter how realistic or unrealistic the change would be - this is meant to be a fun discussion!

The closest to a solo cabin is the one I just booked.  It has a single bed and a sofa.  But I still paid for 2 since the cabin could technically sleep 2 people.

1A was a solo stateroom with 0 solo supplement back when I didnt cruise solo so didnt help me. I can remember the out cry when they went to 50% solo supplement on these cabins ... and then went to double occupancy to push family cruising they wanted to attract.

Now the new mardi gras even did away with 1A category designed for solos. Got one of the worst 1As I've ever seen on breeze last leg. Avoid for me. Bed in the corner so every time I turned over I hit the wall. It was a upper and lower. Paying double occupancy for these cabins is crazy.

Designed for solos originally when these ships were built. Very few have beds that push together.

I'd like to see them cater a bit more to solos myself. Give a perk at some loyalty level like rcl does.

I almost booked this on the Breeze for Feb 2022 but found one of the rare single beds in the middle of the room with a sofa.

I agree with the solo cabin options.  I do a solo every once in a while and it would be nice to have a dedicated rate.

I'd love to see a restructuring of Cheers so that you could purchase different amounts, or so many drinks cumulative per cruise.

That's a great idea!  I would love to buy. a package that caps at 7 or 10 drinks.

I would like non-smoking casino options.

also, I would like better in cabin TV channels or the ability to hook up or use Airplay on the TV.

Breeze has it - different deck.  It was nice.

Maybe it's not a big help, but something like rcl where one can purchase cheers and the other the refreshment package ...but you have to call . .. not everyone drinks. But everyone has to purchase some package, to keep sharing down.

Honestly I think it's ridiculous to worry about the sharing. Why don't they just call Cheers the 15-drinks a day package, and if you only want to buy one package for your cabin with 3 adults in it, who cares?  And anyway it is very, very easy to cheat/share with bottomless bubbles if you want to, so it's silly that they mandate it for the booze package but not the non-alcohol package.

15 seems a awfully lot of drinks to me so wasnt a good value for me, but for those complaining.

Rcl pkg I think you only get drinks up to $13, ccl you get any drink or maybe $20 drink. There are all sorts of ways to compare to me. I did wish carnival had a good german riesling. Every time I asked them about wine they told me italian wine was about the same... too sweet. Twice had it served and could barely drink it. Lol italian is nothing like german riesling. I would have ordered wine with dinner except i couldnt find one i liked.

I think cheers is a pretty good value if i drank more.

Or cheers packages that are beer only or wine only, or perhaps beer, wine, and well drinks.

I don't need all the fancy frozen or coffee drinks.

A smaller Cheers package, or really any changes would result in higher prices for those packages. Carnival knows not everyone is going to drink 15 alcohol drinks a day, and knows some drinks are shared. It is built into the price. A package for 7.5 drinks/day is going to have a much higher price than 1/2 the normal Cheers rate.
