I've noticed this is one of my older cameras taking photos in 2014 so not of the quality I would like.  Camera have really improved a lot over the last decade or two.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIKk31bo8k8KhH-8twk_Atb?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1416783864

By this time we were exhausted, and so were our traveling buddies so we walked back to the ship.  We walked many miles that day.  Along the way we saw street food called Kestane being sold.  It appears that is roasted chestnuts.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLoDsJUqcEv-8qiPM2Z4GsI?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1416783900

My gosh, we still have the following day to see.  This could take all day to finish!  Sorry if there are too many photos but Istanbul is an important stop on the Black Sea cruise.

We decided to buy two of our grandsons a Galatasaray soccer jersey.  One of those boys has continued on with soccer and the other let it go.  But it's good to see them continuing on with what interests them.  Here is the salesperson who waited on us and he was happy to pose for a photo. 00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKmb5vlzuyjI5M3ArKKiDHM?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1416783989

Good morning and thanks all! Don’t like gingerbread, so I make Swedish star cookies with cards on and lemon peel that you roll and cut out like gingerbread.
We’ve visited beautiful Istanbul, loved the cisterns that @cat shepard posted,  famous in a Dan Brown novel.  We also enjoyed the spice market and Blue Mosque, but as pointed out , it’s reverted to a Mosque.
Sadly my photos aren’t easily accessible,  really need to work on that!

DH found some,  some also from Topaki Palace.image.thumb.jpeg.24c006cdff59b60424236f081acb4275.jpegimage.thumb.jpeg.37b609ad977141c7c4f903ef01c1cc87.jpeg image.thumb.jpeg.5c95e1c23e5aada686988c776130f081.jpegimage.thumb.jpeg.e114f8f6fe3021fb245714f4e1e5cf41.jpegimage.thumb.jpeg.a403987221fe25ffe8c91b10d514ae04.jpegimage.thumb.jpeg.2f40fae3a54719d21315e2a059da186c.jpegimage.thumb.jpeg.d781c6eb115673ea959479175b889bb0.jpegimage.thumb.jpeg.e451cc6e3adf1f4c25b4bd6d9afbe340.jpeg

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

Great days. I like gingerbread. As a child who was adopted at one week old, I cheer for adoptions. I recently was able to get my original birth certificate and found my birth mother's identity. She is still alive but I have no interest in trying to contact her.  Hello to the world!

Excellent quote.

I like the meal; will file away the recipe. I like the drink and will pass on the wine.

I haven't been to Istanbul. Thanks for all the great pictures.

I finally could take off my sunglasses indoors around 8PM and tolerate light without pain. I'm fine today. Interestingly, when I went to take my evening meds, I noticed that I had forgotten to take yesterday's, including the prednisone for my eyes. A rare occurrence for me to forget. So not sure if that had anything to do with my flare, as I've had them even with consistently taking my meds.

@rafinmd Good to see you back with the lists. Hoping radiation goes well today.

@Mr. Boston Hoping you don't have too much in the way of side effects from the booster shot.

@JAM37 Sorry to hear about the allergies; they sound like no fun. Happy Anniversary!

@jimgev Bon Voyage! Have a great time.

@ger_77 LOL on DH's meal!

@Seasick Sailor It sounds like the dinner was a great success!

@Horizon chaser 1957 Such talent to make the gingerbread houses. I'm glad everyone made it home safely. It sounds like things will be tough in BC for a while.

@StLouisCruisers  Wonderful pictures! Thanks for sharing.

Prayers for the care list and cheers for the celebration list.

Please stay safe and wear your mask when appropriate.

You do have an advantage or two here, Tony!  My photos were at night and my dancer wasn't in the mood for posing!!  But this one's a winner all right.  Looks like a beautiful day there.  Glad you enjoyed Istanbul, too.

@JazzyV Vanessa, I'm happy to hear you're better today!  I would also wonder about the forgotten medication causing your pain and light sensitivity.  Lesson learned and I bet you don't forget to take them again.

It's nice to hear all the adoption stories here on the Daily today.  Blessings to all!

I'm pleased to hear your eyes are a lot better today.

We have a program in the UK called Long Lost Family where families are reunited with family they had not seen sometimes from birth.

It is so sad hearing some of the stories and why people were given up for adoption.

Some from the Bosporus, now I just need a tutorial on moving the photos around😄

If you mean choosing and spacing, I can help with that & it’s not hard

Here is a screenshot of some I have posted recently so you can see what I am doing:

Then tab down and space so they don’t run together, space & choose the next one you want..

If you just choose submit reply, all the pics run together in the order they are & if you miss inserting one and hit submit reply, it will show up at the end of the post automatically like my first snow meme.

That can be fixed fast with an edit and deleting the pic altogether (use the x) or delete it from the bottom and insert it where you want it.  I hope this is what you were asking about 🤞

So glad you are feeling better 👍 I wouldn’t be surprised if missing the meds had a detrimental effect. 😔

If you mean choosing and spacing, I can help with that & it’s not hard

Here is a screenshot of some I have posted recently so you can see what I am doing:

Then tab down and space so they don’t run together, space & choose the next one you want..

I agree with Jacqui that I like to put some space between each photo instead of having all of them running into each other.  Also you might want to put some explanation (text) in between photos, too.  On my laptop I just hit "enter" twice after each photo.

I’ve been locked out of CC all day. Feels like jail. Right now we are lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings and it definitely is wild.

But the reason I so desperately wanted to post is to celebrate Adoption Day.  Both of our children are adopted. It was a very long struggle to get to that point and even longer after we decided to adopt. Both were meant to be, it was serendipitous how each happened. Both are a joy to us today. Our daughter has been more curious than our son, so we bought both the 52 and Me DNA tests. I don’t think our son has ever done it. Anyway, it’s not something I share very often but feel like I know everyone here and wanted to share.

Have a great day everyone!

It really is nice hearing from adopters and adoptees on this board.  Those of us who were adopted are very fortunate and I thank all the adopters who opened their hearts and homes to bring a child into them.   I located my birth mother the year before we were married; we met and she told me many things, most of which were untrue.  Years later I was "found" by one of her brothers, my uncle, and welcomed into the general family with open arms.  Unfortunately, my birth mother was a very stubborn woman and refused to have anything to do with me or anyone who even acknowledged me.  Or my 3 half-siblings who were also given up for adoption.  I guess she liked making babies, she just didn't like the idea of having to care for them.

Good news:  Hubby had his Covid booster shot this morning, exactly 180 days from the date of his 2nd dose.  I can get mine in 9 days . . . woo hoo !!!!!

@StLouisCruisers I laughed because somewhere in the bajillions of photos on the computer is one of our 4 feet on the same carpet as yours!

@JazzyV I'm glad to hear your inflammation has lessened; hopefully it will continue to diminish and finally go away.

@Horizon chaser 1957I'm relieved to know you're home.  Your cousin was a sweetheart to drive you to Chilliwack.  Glad your DS & BIL made it home, even though it took an eternity to get there.

BTW, the house smells lovely from the roasts in the oven . . . no Spam tonight!  LOL

Just waiting for sail-away, knowing one day, we'll be on one of the BHB's.  I'll leave you with this:

Good afternoon from sunny San Diego.  For those of us staying on for the next cruise (79), immigration inspection was easy.  We met in the World Stage at 10, and waited for the inspectors.  When they arrived, they approached each of us where we sat, and using facial recognition cleared us.  We were out of the showroom before 11am.

It looked like disembarkation was a little slow, but passengers were boarding before noon.

The Covid testing yesterday was easy.  When we went to the designated room no other passengers were there. We were given a number sticker that matched the number on the test vial, and was by our name on the list.  We then walked to the tester, who tickled our noses.  We waited in the cabin for 15 minutes with no one calling.  The printed results were in the cabin after dinner.  We failed again. 👍

The first week went by quickly, and we had a good time.  When Koningsdam was first launched, we said we'd never go on her as she was too big, since we like the smaller ships.  However, I do like the ship.  I'm not sure how it would be full of passengers.  There will be about the same number on this week, which is another casino cruise.  They have taken some of them slot machines out of the Ocean Bar.  Supposedly, the two cruises after this one will have even fewer passengers.

Right now, we are not completely sure in what order we will visit the three ports this cruise.  The Navagator has one itinerary while the information on the tv shows the same itinerary as last week.  I guess we'll find out Tuesday when we reach our first port.  😃  We did get notices on to segments of itinerary changes before we left home, but I really didn't pay that much attention since we were going to be on a BHB.  🚢

This week, I have said hello to a lot of the world.  Adoption is an important way for parents and children to become families.  👨‍👩‍👧‍👦  Hats off to all the adopters and adoptees on the DaiIy.

When we get home, I'll be busy making gingerbread cookies.

The quote by Eleanor Roosevelt is good.

We were in Istanbul in 2008 on our Black Sea cruise on Prinsendam.  We did a tour that included all the highlights.  We did skip the rug demonstration, and walked to the Grand Bazaar, which we enjoyed since we were there before it got crowded.  The tour did not stop there, but we made it to the meeting place before the bus left for the next stop.

Thank you everyone on who posted pictures 📸 of Istanbul.  We were supposed to visit there in 2016 on Prinsendam, but the itinerary was changed be cause of the attempted coup.

@rafinmd  Roy, it's good you feeling well enough to resume posting the lists.

@kazu and @StLouisCruisers  Jacqui and Sandi, when posting pictures that are of the same place, I don't leave a space between them to keep the post shorter.  If I switch sights, I'll add a space between the pictures.  I also try to comment on the pictures.

Good morning, all! A shout out to all my friends who either adopted a child and gave them a secure, loving family or were adopted themselves.

We made it home late yesterday afternoon. The highway North of the Fraser River opened to essential travel, including those returning home. It was a long flight to Abbotsford, as we were rerouted to Edmonton to clear Canadian customs and immigration. Those services were closed in Abbotsford. We stayed with DH’s cousin overnight. Then when the long detour route to Chilliwack  opened, she drove us home. We picked up some fresh veggies on the well supplied side before we came. She is truly an angel in human form! Yesterday DS and BIL were able to drive home via a long detour over reopened  highways through the interior. What is normally a 4 hour drive was an 11 hour drive, but they are home and safe. Gas is rationed in BC right now, and a lot of stores are rationing things like eggs to stop the hoarders.

The magnitude of the disaster in BC is really just sinking in. When we stepped off the plane in Abbotsford, you could smell flood plain from the airport. There’s a lot more to recovery than just draining Sumas Prairie.

On a better note, we had an awesome time in Mexico, and it’s good to be back in our own bed safe and sound.

Happy Sunday, and yes, I’d rather be on a BHB not having to worry about the vegetable supply!

I'm glad you made it home safely, especially given all the challenges caused by the horrific storms.

I’m waiting in the Observation Lounge (Crow’s Nest) for my disembarkation color. I choose 9am. NCL asks that we be out of our cabins by 8am. I like that HAL let’s you stay in your stateroom but I understand.
On the way home (I drove to the port) I’m stopping by the cemetery to decorate my dad’s grave for my mom.
Only 56 days until my next cruise!

Glad you're home safely.  Had fun meeting you in Cabo.

I've just spent 30 minutes showing you our second day's visit to Istanbul and then CC (or my computer) froze and the whole thing disappeared.  Sorry!  I have to try to reconstruct what I just lost.

Sandi, that has happened to me a few times on the computer and the tablet.  Sometimes, it doesn't freeze, but just vanishes.  😱

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

Great days. I like gingerbread. As a child who was adopted at one week old, I cheer for adoptions. I recently was able to get my original birth certificate and found my birth mother's identity. She is still alive but I have no interest in trying to contact her.

Good Sunday morning everyone, thanks for the daily report Rich.  Hello world.  It’s that gingerbread time of year.  While it can be a challenge, I know of many adoption

success stories.  Chicken soup here today so the recipe will have to wait. I’ll try a rum swizzle next June when we head to Bermuda for the first time.  I like today’s quote very much.  We’re getting our Covid boosters later this morning so wish me luck.  Prayers for everyone on today’s prayer list.  Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events today!

HURRAY,  on getting your booster shots.

Good morning, Friends. Thank you for the Daily, the Lists and the Recipes.

I try to smile wave, nod or say hello to everyone. I love gingerbread. I am very grateful for adoption as I am an adoptee who had very loving parents. Also, at a horrible time in my life I had to make the decision to give my baby up for adoption. (He has wonderful parents and we have been in contact and spent time together over the 28 years.)

Allergies attacked my eyes Friday to the point I could barely read Friday. It took me all day off and on to read the Daily. Yesterday I couldn't read at all...I tried a few posts and never finished. Today the allergies are moving from eyes to ears and nose. At least I can read as I missed visiting with you all.

I love the quote. The meal sounds great, but I won't be cooking today as we are going to Home Depot, then to get DH's hair cut and will pick up take out just after noon. We will have that and watch football to celebrate our anniversary. Not our normal way of celebrating, but it allows us to keep working in preparation for mid week arrival of family.

At some point, maybe not until tonight or tomorrow, I will go back and read yesterday's Daily.

Have a blessed Sunday.

🙏 and 🎉 for those on our lists.

Julia, I'm sorry your allergies are so bad,  Hope you feel better soon.

🍾 HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! 🥂

Good morning everyone,

This is my third attempt at trying to post here.  The CC gremlins are at it again.

Greetings from sunny but cold Bluffton, SC.

Finally there is a port that i can say we have visited.

First of all, thank you all for the expressions of support and condolences as we work through our loss.  It means a lot.

While we have no longer chosen to sail on HAL, I still find this board my comfort zone.

We keep in our prayers those who are on the cares list.  Roy, especially, we wish you success and speedy results from your radiation treatments so that you can be on the high seas again.

To all those who are celebrating, cheers!

To those who are adopted, you are blessed to have had parents who cared and nurtured you to adulthood.  You are truly the lucky ones.

As for dinner, it is Chicken Francaise tonight with risotto and glazed carrots.

Happy Sunday to all, and God Bless.

Terri

Terri, my condolences to you and your DH on the loss of his brother, especially under such sad circumstances.

LOL Lenda, I don’t think leaving a space between pics makes the post that much longer 😂. And, IMO the pics are easier to view - but that’s just me.  I enjoy your pics anyway you want to display them 👍

Have a great day everyone!

My niece  started with the DNA test and eventually contacted her birth mother. Her experience  was similar to @ger_77 except she did meet a brother with whom she remains in contact. It is a hard thing for all concerned I am sure..

My nephew ,her adoptive brother, does not seem to want any contact.Of course,it is  individual.
