I'm following with great interest.  I just booked on the Majestic for b/b in Feb.  Could you please post the latest patter?  I'm interested to know what activities they have going on a sea day.  Thank you!

I’ll post them by the end of the trip 😃

Veggie burger at the grill is different than the one in a dining room.

Interesting.  I'll pass that little tidbit on to Mrs. XBGuy.

Our regular embarkation day routine for our first six or seven Princess cruises was after dropping off stuff at our cabin, we would make our way to the Lido deck and get a hamburger and fries from the Lido Grill--now called the Salty Dog Grill.  We would find a table and order some ice teas and then enjoy watching the hustle and bustle of all the excited cruisers.  After learning about Cruise Critic I discovered that the cool cruise absolutely had to have lunch in the dining room on embarkation day.  Being cool cruiser supplicants we decided to try the dining room lunch on embarkation day for one of our cruises.  Being a man of habit, I ordered a cheeseburger and fries.  Mrs. XBGuy ordered a veggie burger.  Our burgers arrived, and I enjoyed mine quite a bit.  Mrs. XBGuy took one bite from hers, and pushed her plate away.  That was all she was going to try.  When the server noticed that my plate was pretty empty but my wife's meal had been barely touched, she knew something was wrong, and asked if she could replace the dish.  My wife declined.  We have a regular sailaway tradition on our balcony, and she just looked forward to that,

Veggie burgers have no fat. Gotta have fat on a burger or it tastes awful

We just returned from the Enclave.  The week pass might be one of our best purchases ever.  We love good hot tub jets, steam and dry heat.  We are very relaxed

What was the cost of the weekly pass?  Thanks.

$219 for two 7 day pass.  I think it was $140 for one.   I have used it every day sometimes twice.  We don’t do excursions in Mexico,  we aren’t beach people and we have seen the other stuff.  This is a pure relaxation time differing from normal retirement activities

One unexpected thing about this cruise is the elevators. I expected some problems with the elevators with more than 6  people trying to get on.  (Six is the recommended amount.)  So far we have been the only ones on the elevators most of the time. Since the beginning of the cruise I think we shared an elevator with one or two others no more than 7 or 8 times.  No more long waits for the elevator. We can get on an elevator less than one or two minutes. And there is usually no stops since we are the only occupants. No more 6 or 7 stops going from deck 5 to 16.  Sailing with only 1350 makes a difference.

I’ve heard several friends say, “That is the worst veggie burger I’ve ever tasted!”…doing away with any desire I’ve had to try one!

I've heard the MDR hamburger was better than the Salty Dog.  The french fries are a toss up.  Yes?  No?

The MDR burger can be truly exceptional - like, would not embarrass itself at better steakhouses at lunchtime.

I might, again, disagree with the consensus.  The dining room cheeseburger served at lunch, at least in the embarkation lunch where I tried it, seemed to be the same as served at the Lido Deck grill.  Although, now that I think of it, my opinion may be out of date since this was six or seven years ago.

Prior to the pandemic shutdown, there was a different specialty hamburger every evening on the dining rooms' dinner menu.  Mrs. XBGuy tried a couple of those and thought they were very good,  It is not clear to me that this daily specialty hamburger is still on the post-pandemic dinner menu.

We will be on the Majestic in February and wondering if you can report back for me on the ordering of beverages and food via the MedallionClass app to be delivered in room.  I'm not talking about regular room service, but beverage package drinks delivered in room and food from the Lido, etc.  I've heard it is no charge and fast service in other threads.  This is a feature that will make Princess stand out if sticks.

Yes, it's no charge if you have the package.

No hamburger on the evening dining room

menu on the Majestic.   At least they had salmon a couple of weeks ago.   Zero salmon anywhere on the Ruby and no burgers in the dining room.  Wish there was as the food is sub sub par.

Fast service is easily possible on ships with the 50% or less capacity that current sails have.

Unknown is what the speed of service will be once ships return to 100% occupancy.

Wow! I've noticed on the menus posted by people that Princess has changed the always available menu (now called "Princess Favorites") by offering different preparations of chicken and salmon, but they've always been listed. For instance, the menus from the Sky Princess cruise shows one night the salmon with lemon-dill butter, salmon with tarragon beurre blanc, salmon with tomato pesto, salmon with mango chutney, salmon with chimichurri sauce, etc.

In Mazatlan, we took the local $2 round trip ) ferry to Stone Island. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk (or you can take a cab) the ferry, about 5 minutes across the water in a panga boat, then 5 minutes or so to the beach. The easy way is go left, then go right on the road after the White House. There are lots of beach restaurants to choose from.

I had a lovely massage ($20 USD for an hour) at the place we stayed for the day. They had a great menu and very tasty food and drinks.

there are a couple photos from the pier area for another massage provider and taxi prices.

oh and I love  cats, took photos of cats… so here are photos and cats (and chickens) too 😻

In Puerto Vallarta we took the local bus $1 USD each way) to Buscarias and had a lovely beach day.

you can also take a cab for about $15-20 usd each way.

there was a lovely open air church we stopped in as well. There are Condos and it’s a popular place for expats, but few cruise passengers venture here.

it was about 40 minutes to the stop for the beach, it took longer to get back due to an accident but we left the beach about 3 hours prior to all aboard so still back in plenty of time. There were two ladies who came back late who were nearly left behind. Always make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get back.

the Ruby was in port with us. 😍
