Health questionnaire

Some of those questions I would have to answer yes  and doubt if I have Covid.

Muscle aches?   Yes    I am not as young as I once was but still think I am..    The mind is willing but the body is weak.

Fatigue?  Yes.   What I use to be able to do all night long  now takes me all night to do.  🥰

Headache?   Yes.   I drank too much the night before because I celebrated going on a cruise today

Nasal Congestion?   Yes.   I have allergies

it is the same when I go to the doctor’s office.   They always ways ask how are you today. My answer is always the same.   If I was fantastic I wouldn’t be here.   I either have some pain, issues, or problems.  Do you think I come here for entertainment or to socialize?

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

What I have never been able to figure out is what happens if you answer yes to one of those questions. Let’s say headaches. Someone who suffers from migraines on a regular basis may have to answer yes. Does that keep them from Cruising?

or someone with chronic muscle aches and pains?  Does a yes answer keep them from Cruising?

I asked that question as I suffer from migraines and was told you were flagged and had to meet with a medical technician to review your medical condition to determine your fitness to sail.    They said that if you were nauseous from air sickness and headaches not related to other conditions you were not forbidden from cruising.

Luckily the meds I've been using have stopped any migraines going beyond my first premonitions which aren't covered by their questions --  e.g. light sensitivity, light flashes and teeth sensitivity.

Regarding answering “YES” when you have allergies, migraines, sore muscles, etc.

DW and I were on Edge Jan 2-9 and both of us answered “yes” to the nasal congestion question as we were both suffering from pollen allergies, with very runny noses and some sneezing. We knew we were fine but wanted to be honest when answering.

We were flagged and were escorted from the Retreat boarding area, taken back through security, back downstairs to the main floor, to the area under the main escalators where a person checked our temperature, pulse oxygen, and re-asked each of us ALL of the questions but explained that they were to be answered in regard to Covid.

So, if you have unexplained headache, muscle aches, nasal congestion, or any other symptom that you don’t have a reason for it (like migraines, aging body, allergies, or whatever reason that explains your normal symptom), THEN answer “YES”. If you have a reason for your symptom and it is not related to Covid, then answer “NO:.

This was explained to us by the people in the Retreat waiting area and the health person who doubled checked our health status.

And we did get to sail…it just took quite a bit of time to board. After the health re-screening, we were escorted back upstairs, had to go through security again (fortunately, they let us leave our bags in the waiting area), then we could board.

I agree with this. Only disclose any unusual symptoms you might be experiencing. There's no reason to answer "Yes" for something that can explained by seasonal allergies or typical migraines. We all know our own bodies.

So here is another one. I woke up yesterday with drainage and runny noise. Now it fully feels like a cold. Sneezing, slight headache and completely stuffed up. Got a covid test today and it was negative. So now what would Celebrity do for my case?

I'm no doctor, but I agree, it sounds like you have a cold. Celebrity will likely take your temperature and may give you another covid test prior to boarding.

If you showed up like that at the port and honestly answered the questions, I suspect they would re-test you, perhaps with a pcr, before letting you board.

There was a thread on this about a month ago and the OP said she reported that she had been nauseous probably due to air sickness.   They sent her to a nursing station for temperature and screening which took about 1/2 hours.    The nurse told her you should have said no if you didn't think it was virus related.

You might be able to search for the thread

How does Celebrity "deem you unfit to travel".   It is kind of hard to believe that anyone has not been in contact with someone positive in these days of omicron...

Yes, I'd like to know that too.

If you say that you had a contact within 14 days, can you not sail?  Or, do you need an additional test at terminal?

I believe if you answered that question in the affirmative  it would just trigger an additional layer of questioning, temperature taking  and screening by the Medical staff in the port.

The wording of the question is:

In the last 14 days, have you been in contact with someone who has influenza-like illness or confirmed Covid-19?

My personal take on the question would be NO unless I was in contact with someone I knew had   flu like symptoms.    If I had been in contact to a person I knew, with "Confirmed" Covid symptoms I would feel duty bound to reply yes.

I wouldn't speculate on casual contact with persons that I didn't have any knowledge of their sniffles of covid status.

They use that question as the basis for why B2B's that have been in close contact with a person that tested positive to Covid can not continue to the next cruise.

On our January cruise they would have you isolate in your cabin for 24 hr, then retest using a PCR.

It's not clear, but I think the question relates to someone who has not yet boarded.

You are correct.   The only time I've been asked the questions were either per-boarding or during B2B

I'm confused about 10 day test vs 14 day close contact.  For example if you were fine after 12 day positive test and recovered, you'd be allowed to go.  But if you and your spouse both were, you'd still have presumably had close contact with each other and would have to answer yes to 14 days close contact.

That makes little sense to me, since if you had recovered from the same covid a family member had then you aren't about to get it again from them.

We had a cruise schedule on April 10. My wife had a sinus drip causing a cough. She tested and tested negative.I then two days later Tuesday the 5th had a some sinus blockage. I decided to test and tested positive. We then went to doctors office and both tested positive. Since we were cruising with our daughters family we decided to call and find out the policy. We thought about going and have our antigen test that was scheduled on Friday at CVS and then go on the cuise. So we called the Customer service person told us that we should go ahead and test on Friday and if you test negative go. She actually said she did the same think a few weeks before and it was ok. I told her about the 14 days and she said the most important thing is the negative result. Anyway, we decided to not lie and stay home. We applied for our money back and got some back in a week and the rest two weeks later. To say the policy is adhered to 14 days, I would say not a hard fast rule. The antigen testing negative is the real deal maker.

I assume any yes gets you denied anyway?  Even if it makes sense.

It's my belief that if you answer "yes" to either of the two questions you mentioned upthread that you would be automatically denied boarding.

We both tested negative at FLL airport on April 1st (not joking).  Then, on April 2nd we did the health questionnaire.  My husband was honest and put "yes" for nasal congestion.  He suffers from chronic spring allergies and mowed the grass before we left.  He truly felt it was just his allergies because he had no other symptoms.  On April 3rd at the terminal, we were also pulled from the Retreat lounge (I told them we weren't staying in a retreat, but she wanted us there. ) We were then escorted to a medical station and he asked more questions, took his temperature, etc... and said he had to take a PCR test.  Within 10 minutes, they had him take another one and they were both positive!  We were taken outside and waited for 2.5 hours to get our luggage.  We were shocked, but so thankful we didn't expose others.  We still haven't gotten the official lab results yet.  They say they are pending!  The Celebrity personnel were very nice and she gave us a letter for a complete refund.  The cruise didn't get over until April 15th.
