This is my entire concern. The number of suite guests is somewhat a finite number. The number of C&A members with status can vary widely depending on ship and cruise. The lounges simply do not have the capacity to deal with numbers in excess of the suite guests and a smaller number of those with status. If Royal wants to highlight one of the perks I pay for as this lounge, then I expect it to be reasonably available. I'm willing to see how this shakes out. Frankly, I'd like to see a statement from Royal to their suite guests saying how they intend to establish and protect the "desired capacity." I'm not convinced that Royal will be able to allow access on cruises with lower numbers of Pinnacles and restrict them on cruises when they are higher. I am prepared to be amazed though. They highlight it as a reason to climb the ladder. With the carrot dangled, they can't yank it away. A lot of suites are from casino comps. Better to force those folks out of the SL and back into the casino. 🙂. I'm kidding! 1

njkruzer Posted February 28, 2022 #28 Share Posted February 28, 2022 As a D+ who enjoyed the CL on Anthem and booked a cabin near it, I was teed off when heard we could no longer use CL. Understood during covid but want back in. Oh well. Next Anthem cruise until TA in October. On Jewel in April I expect we'll be back in D lounge. Time will tell. Would you like to hazard a guess as to how many of us Pesky Pinnacles actually sail in full suites. If you were to strike up a conversation with me...not wearing a pin...would you be horrified if you found out I was a Pinnacle? 😉 1

Lady Hudson Posted February 28, 2022 #36 Share Posted February 28, 2022 I like the statement put out by Royal. I understand the need for, on some cruises, limiting the number of Pins in the lounge. Sounds like a good plan to me. On a side note — I will love being able to sit in the Anthem suite lounge again mid morning until lunch. About the same or more for all of our Oasis Class sailings these past several months. That's a lot of stress on the SL

That's a lot of stress on the SL The SL on Q class is quite generous especially when they don't block half of it for distancing. If you took the PL space they used in the Music Hall you could put at least three of those into the SL space. If one of those could manage 70 pins I think the entire SL space could handle the load. It's not like every pin uses it and all at the same time. The concierge in the CL(SL) on Ovation in Australia told me they use 90 D+ as the threshold to ban D+ from the CL on Ovation. She didn't have Pin on her radar screen back then, it was the D+ that was the focus. 1
suzyluvs2cruise Posted February 28, 2022 #40 Share Posted February 28, 2022 We recently sailed on Navigator in a Suite. The interior part of the SL, during Happy Hour, had maybe a couple of empty seats.....with only 2 seats marked for Social Distancing....and they were by the Concierge desk. I'm curious on a ship with that size lounge what the "magic #" will be to allow Ps access. I guess I'll find out as we're sailing again Mar 25.
Rare twangster Posted February 28, 2022 #41 Share Posted February 28, 2022 (edited) If I recall the highest Pin counts on my Odyssey cruises were in the high eighties. The most I ever saw in the PL at the same time was about 20 Pins and that was only because Mario was holding court. Most of the time there were a dozen or fewer Pins in the PL. And it made for a horrible service experience for every suite guest who used the SL. The long line for the concierge was filled with pins making all kinds of requests I’ve never imagined the one time I really needed his help. Too many pins and it easily destroys the SL.

Diamond's didn't have access but D+ did. I do recall when we were just D and then created D+ and we lost access to a lounge, etc. Oh well, time will tell what happens On the Jewel Australia circumnavigation in 2020, gosh that was a long time ago, we were pushed out of CL because of the large number. As D lounge was way too small they used Safari Lounge, which was packed
