They've got her filling in for more things lately...like trivia helper in Princess live.

Save some money & dispense with her.

Maybe she could help out the waiters/waitress in the dining rooms -

Sabatini's & Crown Grill would be a good start.

Adding usb and wireless charging stations in every cabin and throughout the ship would be more attractive to the 20somethings than a crazy bingo lady.

Except that the USB charging stations on the lamp basses of the new Enchanted Princess are terribly slow. I'm glad I brought my wall wart chargers otherwise it would take all night to recharge my phones.

At one time I thought of even trying a splitter to double the outlets. 😆

Same actress also plays the pirate queen.

Tons of actresses  auditioned for the role, since it’s a 7 month gig with room & board.

Each ship is supposed to have one.

We had one on the Emerald in January and February.  We still look at each other occasionally, wave our hands and say "Luck, luck, luck, luck, luck" when we are on the golf course.  It does not help.

The few times we have been to Bingo Fortuna seemed to create a fun atmosphere and it appeared the players liked playing along with her energy….she is no more annoying then those super silly cruise directors that I have  yet to ever find original, useful or entertaining….

It sounds like something only a bingo player could appreciate. 🤪

We saw a woman dressed like this on our March cruise walking here and there. Since we don't gamble we had no reason to know who she was. I understand wanting to push casino and Bingo moneymaking. Characters in costume walking around like it's Disneyland? Princess is changing, but I don't like the trend. I shudder to think what they'll come up with to push the art auction!

John Padgett came from Disney. He thinks he is still at Disney.

My suggestion is if you don't like Fortunia, then don't cruise. I bet you have never talked to he ( she is on every ship), if you ever bothered to do, you will find she is a great person, very friendly, and her job to provide entertainment for you. Wine, its great with a meal, not so good all the time.

Is this something new?  I've never seen this character around a ship. I'm wondering if this is a John Padgett addition.

It's new AFAIK. Our last pre-COVID cruise ended in January 2020. Didn't see her there. Our first post-COVID (well almost) was December 2021 and there she was!

Not sure this would be a Padgett addition as she works for the casino department. Doesn't that entity span multiple Carnival lines?

There was also a character(assistant cruise director) that was frequently out in the pool area and went by the name DJ something or other.

I see both as an attempt to appeal to a younger crowd and/or try to lure some of the Carnival cruisers over to Princess. But I also noticed that some of the events they tried out by the pool went over like a lead balloon.

My suggestion, if they want to entice some of the folks on the older end of the Carnival crowd to switch to Princess, they should offer them some credit for their VIFP points (Carnival's version of Captain's Circle) to move over.

Similarly, they should offer Princess cruisers credit to try Holland America or some of their other lines

Not exactly "a costume", though some may disagree...certainly not like a Disney character. It's just a female CD staffer wearing a blue, very short, very tight skirt and high heels. Most cruises we have been on it was a redhead...but I'm sure other ship's have probably had other haircolors.  Her spiel is rather corny!

It is the same wig.  They are performers.

The character has been on since 2019.

if they want to make more money at Bingo, increase pay outs and drop the costs.  I have lost interest when they went to tablets and dropped the bells and coins dropping in the casino.    Rarely go to bingo or casino these days.  Enabling folks to gamble on medallion would not bring back either, LOL.

Attracting younger cruisers to the line is going to involve lots of new initiatives (such the Medallions and the "best wifi at sea")

Based on the numerous posts about how well these two initiatives have (not) worked, cruisers of all ages are vowing to never cruise Princess again.

I doubt if there's anyone who doesn't think she's not a great person, but what does she do for people other than strut around in her costume?

On our last cruise there were trying to have her appear in more places so she would be noticed. It certainly doesn't make me want to gamble any more in the smoky casino, so why pay someone a salary just to make an appearance.

You might as well pay an actor to put on a bear costume & walk around the ship to sell stuffed bears. 😉

I never said that the initiatives were working.  Only that they were being rolled out. ☺️  I think it is easy to see who Princess was trying to impress with their shiny new toys.  It took Disney quite a while to get the Magic Band to be fully functional. Indeed, they are still working out some kinks.  I know what I read here, but I have only taken one full-blown Medallion Class cruise so far, just before the world stopped spinning, and everything worked like a charm.  I know that they have added many features and functions since then, so we'll see how that pans out on our next cruise.

She has been around since the first cruise the Regal did with the medallion (2018 I think).

One too many negative in that sentence, but I get what you are saying.  Back before Covid, Disney employed character actors to roam around its Hollywood Studios Theme Park.  They were called "Streetmosphere" performers.  Interactive equity actors who set the mood, tone  and theme of the park by joking with the guests.  People loved them and were sad to see them laid off when the park re-opened.  Did they accomplish anything?  No, other than creates some harmless fun for the guests.  I think that Princess is trying to capture this same feeling, but obviously most people here aren't buying in.
