I would be fine with a total ban, but it seems impractical.

Carnival’s Paradise was launched as a smoke free ship in 1998 which lasted until 2003 so believe you’re correct that it is impractical.

I won't mention the M**k word.

But lifting them AND allowing smoking Indoors at this time?

What was Princess thinking?

I'm Not a smoker & have tolerated smokers in the casino on many voyages.

But especially during a pandemic, to allow it?  Are they Crazy?

Totally thoughtless on Princess' part.  The rising numbers of covid onboard tell the tale. 😖

Thank you Steelers for taking the poll & letting them know how MOST of us feel.

I vote for...No smoking in casinos on Princess ships from the US and Europe not just Australia.  March sailing on Enchanted was brutal in the casino.. Had to leave every night (early) and then go out on deck to air out my clothes.  Wore my mask for smoke inhalation, more than covid.  Ventilation was nil..I enjoy gambling and came ready to deposit..thank you Princess for all the money I saved on my 20 day cruise.

When I read smoking banned in Casino as a Covid measure, I wrote CR dept and 2/3 execs lauding the decision and saying I thought it should be permanent.  When I read smoking was back - and with no nights off - I wrote again excoriating them for doing that and asking if that was one ship alone or fleet policy now.  I have not received a reply to either missive.

Maybe due to the pandemic there is a shortage of execs so they cannot respond to your missive in the normal time frame.

My personal experience.  We were on the Ruby in Jan/Feb when no inside smoking was allowed and just got off of a B2B on Sat April 23 right after it was reallowed.

The casino in Jan/Feb was dead.  Completely.

The casino in April was hopping, with the entire smoking side filled, with the nonsmoking side deserted.

I earned 22 points on my Jan/Feb cruise and 1000 times that on my April.

Yes, I'm a smoker.

No debating from me but, the ventilation for smoke in the casino on the Enchanted is absolutely terrible. Much worse than any of the other ships. There wasn't even one area where you could say it was tolerable.

It make me wonder if the Sky Princess is similar.

We were on the Sky in November and the Enchanted in March - the "smoking" and "non-smoking" sides were flipped between the two ships but, no, it was not tolerable.

That seems odd - unless the room layout is also a mirror image.  I am used to the Royal Class having gaming tables, including poker table on the starboard side with the cage more or less in the middle and the bar and virtually all one-armed bandits on the port side.  Port side was smoking location and there was zero smoking at all gaming tables.

Looks like a 93%/7% split is holding pretty steady.  That is higher than I would have expected so perhaps fewer smokers participate here on CC forums than in general population, or perhaps some smokers are fine with not having smoking in indoor public spaces.

It seems like we are getting quite a few casino offers from Princess....wonder if casino business is not what they expect.

We too have about had it with the smoking allowed indoors on their ships. Is Celebrity a smoke free indoor cruise line and are there others?  They might as well have our money and Princess can stay with the stench of smoking if they do not realize they are accommodating to an unhealthy minority and the expense of other's health.

We've gotten 3 casino offers since our March cruise.  We booked one for June with a very reasonable upgrade from an interior to a balcony.  In the past week DW got one for an interior and I got another yesterday for a balcony.   Can't use them in the window but sure hope they keep coming.

We booked when there was no smoking allowed inside. This may be our one and done with Princess even though we like some of their itineraries. I'm already dreading the headache and other reactions I get from cigarette smoke. Am trying to look on the bright side that now I don't have to budget for the casino as we won't go anywhere near it!

With smoking in the casino the issue is second hand smoke.  That applies to the crew who has to work there daily.  A total ban on smoking in the casino would be a big benefit to them. They should not have to be exposed to second hand smoke. IMHO

f enough of the nonsmokers stopped supporting princess financially, maybe princess would rethink their smoking policy, but you continue to support princess with your money, why would princess change?  Again, that sounds like a you problem.

So true, but it's more their problem since we don't care to use their indoor smoking lounge (casino). The end result is a loss for Princess.
