Just off Anthem 11 night ta

Recommended Posts

First, it was a great last minute cruise. Cabins were selling for $307 balconies. We jumped on it! The service was phenomenal, the food good to very good, the shows very good, lounges entertainment was poor to very good.

Covid starting rearing it's head around day 7 with nine cases reported by the captain on day 8. It was obvious that many were keeping their covid secret. We passed security in the hallway checking on a woman who was not allowing service to her cabin. You can't hide, folks! Lots of coughing and sneezing. These people didn't have a mask on. Rrrrrr.

We are now on our way to London with a bus full of coughers and sneezes. If course, they aren't wearing masks even though you are required to on public transportation. Lord, protect us!

No masks required on public transport here in London, there hasn’t been for quite a few weeks now.

I still wear one on public transport.

And to add to the situation, with no isolation requirements, Covid-positive people can legally go wherever they please without wearing a mask. Sigh...🙄 :classic_sad:

Hi Donna and Mark. I can't thank you enough for your post. We are at higher risk for not likely doing particularly well with Covid, and are booked to sail on Anthem in September. For some reason, the CDC cruise ship colour chart isn't even listing the ship! So you are the first news I have been able to get, to help us make an informed decision during these rather scary times (at least for higher risk people). Enjoy the rest of your travels, and please stay safe and well! Thank you again!

Lots of coughing and sneezing everywhere.  It's not all Covid, not by a long shot.  There are several other viruses going around as well as allergies currently.  Mine was a cold/sinus infection and DH's was a cold (and yes we were tested at the peak of our illness after we got home).  There are several other viruses going around right now.   I don't get why some people are still so scared.  If you're vaccinated, you are not likely to get very sick, if  any symptoms at all.  Hospitals with covid cases are reporting almost all are unvaccinated.   And, those that are vaccinated usually have multiple other health issues.  I saw an report a few months ago that the average person who died from covid had something like 4 or 5 co-morbidities.

CDC has no control/interest over a ship that is not sailing out of the US so they're not reporting it.

Where did you find the deal on the cruise? We keep looking for deals like that!

This is exactly why I wore my mask religiously last month on Anthem. I'm an Activity Director for retirees, and I wanted to keep them safe while enjoying a much-deserved vacation. It was my first one I. 2.5 years and I worked the front lines the entire time.

I'm currently on isolation due to exposure, but not from the cruise. My mask and I have become one and I've kept my distance from my residents.

On the Royal Caribbean site.   We had priced up a OV balcony for 2 adults at $850 with taxes and port fees several weeks before the sailing.

I wish I could have done it.  Last minute one way flights home were crazy high.

It was showing on all the major sites but was a crown and anchor rate. I don't think we'll ever see that again.

Just off this one as well, and yep, the coughing/sneezing definitely picked up by the end of the cruise. Hard to say the reasons why, whether it was covid or something else, but it was pretty apparent; however, I know I'm fairly hyper aware of such things now, whereas I wouldn't have paid much attention pre-covid. My husband doesn't know how to sneeze just once either, so I cringed when he'd have his fits. 😅 But we had tested negative for the flight home, already had covid months ago, and are double boosted, so we weren't very concerned, especially since we used every chance we had to wash or use sanitizer, and masked on the busses. It wasn't warm most days, so going in & outside probably didn't help people either. But overall, zero complaints & loved the TA!

Remember the days that 1/2 ship was coughing and hacking from the dreaded Cruise Ship Respiratory Crude? That’s what I called it.

Exactly. Counting coughs per minute in the theater was like counting crickets chirping. You knew the cruise crud was going around!

I always called it Kennel Cough. And it was always prevalent on TA's. Sudafed was a hot commodity. I suppose now it will be covid.

Hi @BND  I'm guessing it's mostly those of us fully-vaccinated-&-boosted people with those comorbidities, who are worrying. For me, it’s hard not to be scared if you quite literally might not be able to “live with Covid” as everyone says we now must do. But we love cruising as much as the next person, so we take our own precautions and rely on thoughtful people like you, and everyone else who has commented, who are willing to let us know what it’s like on board so that we can make informed decisions. Thank you (and all(. I'm glad that we are just a few compared to the vast majority of people who are getting back to normal again. Take good care. 😊

Was this with a special rate or casino offer?

Never mind. Just saw your answer.

It was first obvious on a site that I am not allowed to mention. Then, I went to the official RCL site and viola, there it was. I booked directly from RCL.
