Cruising Scandinavia in the Fall.

Has anyone cruised Scandinavia in October?  My husband and I are considering taking a HAL cruise in October 2022.  How is the weather?  Are the leaves still in Fall color?  Recommendations for things to do?

Where will you cruise? The weather can be very bad with high waves.

 

I have "cruised" on the Baltic sea every time of the year and the weather can be great but also very bad in October. Estonia sunk in September during bad weather. (Estonia was a rather small ferry which sunk 1994 and most likely it was not only because of bad weather. Modern ships are better.)

Itinerary is important. In general I’ll say that October might be too late for this part of the world, however a northern light cruise will make sense.

Weather can be fine but chances for stormy weather and rain are high.

That should have been very bad weather! Probably not recommended for any cruiseship!

What is the departure port?

I am only seeing Amsterdam  as embarkation port for Oct

We sailed with Fred Olsen to Norway in the middle of October one year, and a guide told us we were one of the last four ships sailing right then, because winter weather might appear. It was calm in the fjords, and also crossing the North Sea back to Newcastle in the UK.

We're in the Baltics and it's cold and very rainy here in October -- gorgeous colors, and that misty, drippy rain that everyone thinks about for fall, but way more fun to be inside with a book than outside exploring. I can't imagine it would be warmer or dryer heading north into Scandinavia.
