So disappointed with Royal Caribbean

You are SO disappointed in Royal Caribbean and started  thread because you didn't care for a show? Sorry,  I don't get the issue.  What am I missing?  Is  this  some sort of joke post?

I don't like juggling acts.    When ever one is featured, I simply don't attend.   NO problem.

Title was clickbait.  My post was mostly in jest (per my post history).  We are truly a privileged bunch to have the opportunity to cruise and be spoiled.  And to "complain" about a show such as Cats truly exemplifies that.  Some people don't know where their next meal is coming from but some of us pick apart aspects of a luxury vacation that bored us while in an air conditioned theatre with a drink in hand and plenty of food around while someone is cleaning our cabin.

OK thanks.   If I recall, you've  made these types of posts in the past, that is why I asked if it was a joke.

Enjoy you next cruise.

JCSS was to me a rock opera ALBUM.  Later it became the thing it is now.  Tim Rice and ALW were upstarts, and couldn’t get enough money to make it on the West End or Broadway, so they made a rock album.

So, Jesus was played by Ian Gillan (who was one of the best screamers of any Rock Band at the time he was the lead singer of Deep Purple (smoke on the water, and my woman from Tokyo) at the time who were at the pinnacle of their popularity.

Judas was Murray Head who was in the London Version of Hair.  One of my all-time favorite albums was his mid 70s Say it Ain’t So.

Mary Magdalene was Yvonne Ellman a complete unknown at the time.

The band was from various rock bands from the time.

JCSS is simply a rock album.  No acting at all.

The show when it was made into a musical played on both Broadway and The West End in London.

Most people first saw it at the Movies.  At the time I hated the movie, because I knew the songs as they were played on the original Rock Opera.  I would have probably hated the plays in London and NY for the same reason!  I have softened since my childhood, but when I was 11 or 12 this album was the most important album I had ever heard.

JC

I wore my copy of the album out!!

Stage and screen have always fictionalized history.  Heck history fictionalizes history.  To show historical figures as real, flawed people and to perhaps lead to further exploration of the subject isn’t necessarily a bad thing.  It made me read the biography.   Fascinating but was even the book totally accurate?  None of us were around back then so we’ll never really know.

The play (which I enjoyed, and have the soundtrack to) also got me to search out biographies of Hamilton. 🙂 Because, like you, I get that all stage and screen portrayals sensationalize.  I wanted to learn more truth about his life.

I don't know who you are talking about.

Magician that used to be on Royal all the time. Former AGT contestant as I recall.

Can't believe you never saw him

Either never saw him or wasn't impressed enough to remember him.

I thought the waitress writer died?

That's the movie. (Adrienne Shelley)   Sara Bareilles wrote the music for the Broadway musical, which debuted in 2016.  Still playing in the West End.  (she starred in the original cast, too, and returned for a limited engagement)

Four letter word...... CATS!!!!!

My oh my what a train wreck!   Some people in a board room somewhere actually said, "This is great!  Let's make this a featured show on one of our premier cruise ships.  We'll make millions!"

Do the actors and actresses actually enjoy performing in this debacle?

I will never watch his show again.

Choice: Walk barefoot over hot coals, then broken glass, then rusty nails, then cute kittens or.... rewatch Cats?  Easy decision.

oh dear you really have an opinion.  But really you would rather walk on broken glass or hot coals.

I mean just get up and leave.

I do feel bad for all the folks in the show who read all these negative remarks about Cats.  oh well.

I am sure there are folks in hospitals or war torn countries that would love the chance to see this show.

Just saying - put in some perspective not trying to be mean.

I don't get all the drama over a show.  So you don't like it, that's fine.  Why there are so many threads about not liking it is beyond me.  I don't like bingo.  You know what?  I don't go.  I don't like art auctions.  You know what?  I don't go.  I'm not interested in dance classes.  You know what?  I don't go.

I am with you as I do not like those three things either.

I would still go to see CATS out of respect for the performers who trained and practiced hard.

Folks need to ease up on CATS and try and like it.

Oh, I don't have a problem if people don't like CATS.  I don't think anyone should go see any show "out of respect for the performers".  You should go see a show because you think you might like it.  If you don't like it, leave (hopefully without disturbing the cast or other audience members).  It's all the "Disappointed with Royal Caribbean" and "worst show ever" and all the other multitude of posts complaining about the show I don't get.

Personally, I like the music of CATS.  And I haven't seen it in over 30 years.  OK, it doesn't have a plot (at least not much of one).  I still liked the music.

For real? Why not make your war torn country comment on the dress code, chair hogging, babies in the pools, smoking in the casino, and all the other, trivial if you want some perspective, stuff that gets talked about here. 😏

I have to agree, I think it’s the worst show on any royal ship. I tried to watch twice but couldn’t make it until the half time break. I feel bad for the performers.  And actually, I stopped booking on Oasis for that reason, I can cruise on Allure and have a great show!

Other than the handfful of Broadway productions, none of the Royal shows have a plot. None. Many have a theme. But they still entertain. But some are truly awful.

You know, CATS is only one of the shows.

And Oasis has much better dining options.

Aqua80 is much better than Allure's dive show, and might be the best dive show in the fleet.

Frozen in Time is better than the Monopoly themed show on Allure.

Mama Mia is very good, enjoy it while you can
