Rare puppycanducruise Posted July 18, 2022 #6 Share Posted July 18, 2022 Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet and Daily Report. Happy Monday! Another hot day with a slight chance of rain, hope we get some. Not really my days, I don't have any kids and I'm not a fan of sour candy. But listening is important! So, one out of three for me. Interesting quote. I'll pass on the guacamole but I'll try the Sangria. Hope the wine is good. We've been to Alaska, but not Kodiak. Prayers for everyone. Stay safe.

Thank you for today's daily and fleet reports Rich and Roy for the various lists. I have sold confectionery including sour candy for 35 years and I like all confectionery. I have also sold records for 3 years in the 1980s and love most music. I hope everyone is well and those on cruises are having an amazing time. Take care and stay safe friends. Rare kazu Posted July 18, 2022 #9 Share Posted July 18, 2022 Thanks for our Monday Daily, Rich. I’ll have to send our kid a cyber hug since he’s 2 provinces away. Listening is so important. As my mother used to say “God gave you 2 ears and one mouth for a reason”. 😉 Love the quote by Victor Hugo and guacamole. The drink and wine of the day both sound intriguing. Have to head out to donate 5 more boxes and/or bags today. I’ve lost count now on how many have been donated 😱 Hoping to get the upstairs done before Shadow gets here (assuming she can) so I can focus on her and some training as she gets better. And the garden awaits - it’s going to be hot one again today so all the plants should be happy. Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and a 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list. Have a good Monday everyone !!!!!! Stay safe and please don’t forget your 😷 when / where needed. 26

cat shepard Posted July 18, 2022 #13 Share Posted July 18, 2022 Thank you for today’s Report & Daily, Rich! Bindi and I encountered a group of at least 13 deer manicuring one of my neighbor’s lawns this morning. All ages. And a couple of teenage males with antler stubs! Thank you for keeping our lists Roy! Morning Dailyites. Off to the gym. Still putting stuff away from my recent house guests. Visiting a friend for happy hour later. Maybe we will go out for a bite afterwards. The girls thought Bindi would be as good as this pup… Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Stay well everyone! ********* Bründlmayer 2019 Ried Heiligenstein Riesling A bit on the pricey side, but if it is as good as the critics say, it might just be worth it. I would like a taste first. Several online distributors with prices starting at $38.98. 97 Wine Enthusiast The vibes on the nose are faint but pervasive nonetheless in tones of citrus essence and crushed conifer needle. The palate then expands into ripe Mirabelle fruit which we get to see through that citric, conifer prism. This has wonderful depth which for now is dressed in fruit, but the essential stoniness will shine through with age. Drink 2030–2050. 27 6
smitty34877 Posted July 18, 2022 #14 Share Posted July 18, 2022 Good morning. We are on the midst of a thunderstorm and both dogs are hiding under the kitchen table as it is a ground shaker.I am trying to get some cooking done before it is too hot.The oven is working on two different quiches now and the instapot is busy making vegetarian chili.I love how the dried beans cook so beautifully in the instapot. I will hug everyone here today and confess a love for sour candies. We have not been to the port.I also love Guacamole but tiny avocados are going for 2$ each these days. DH and I are having our second booster shot today. We plan to come home and rest. Last night was a long one and naps are needed. Terry
Rare 0106 Posted July 18, 2022 #15 Share Posted July 18, 2022 Guacamole is basically mashed, raw avocados mixed with other ingredients to taste. Two people have already posted that they don't like guacamole. Maybe one of my alternatives will encourage you to try it again. It’s believed that guacamole dates all the way back to the 1500s when the Aztecs of Mexico created a popular saucy green spread using the same ingredients that we enjoy today. They called it ahuaca-mulli which means an avocado mixture or avocado sauce. The word guacamole that’s more commonly used today is likely derived from a language in Central Mexico called Nahuatl where it was pronounced waka’mole and huaka’mole. The Aztecs loved guacamole and believed it to be a natural aphrodisiac. Avocados contain more natural mono-saturated fat and protein than other fruits and have almost 20 vitamins and minerals. They can help manage heart problems and cholesterol for some people. So, besides tasting good, guacamole is also good for you. It is important to choose an avocado that is not too firm, but also not too soft. Make sure you give it a gentle squeeze at the store before buying it. There should be a little bit of give to it, but it shouldn’t feel too soft. If it doesn’t have any give at all, then it is probably too firm. If you aren’t planning on making the guacamole for a day or two, then the firmer avocado will do, but just make sure that you plan ahead. Make sure to keep your guacamole concealed in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Prolonged exposure to oxygen will give the guacamole a somewhat brown color. There are a couple of different ways that I have found that really seem to work. 1. Add the pit of the avocado to the guacamole dish. 2. Add an extra teaspoon of lime juice. 3. Cover in plastic wrap. You will want to use more avocados than other ingredients to make the base for the guacamole. The amount of other ingredients is based purely on your preference. If you like spicy, add extra jalapeños, and if not, don’t add any. Here’s a basic recipe. https://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/best-guacamole I frequently make this one which adds black bean and corn. The beans add protein and fiber and the corn adds a touch of sweetness. https://www.thegardengrazer.com/fiesta-guacamole/ Fruit is also a nice addition. https://www.theroguebrusselsprout.com/recipes/tropical-guacamole Finally, if you don’t like avocados, it looks like guacamole but is actually made with edamame beans. Low calorie, low fat, high protein. https://pickyeaterblog.com/the-secret-way-to-make-guacamole-without-avocado-edamame-guacamole/ 23

kochleffel Posted July 18, 2022 #18 Share Posted July 18, 2022 I'm in favor of hugging kids if they are yours, and of listening, less so about sour candy. All of the food and drink suggestions are OK with me. We have rain! It had been more than a month without any. There is a chance of thunderstorms beginning in about an hour. 27 2
Rare Crazy For Cats Posted July 18, 2022 #19 Share Posted July 18, 2022 Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily fleet report. It’s a muggy day today with thunderstorms coming this afternoon. The rest of the week looks hot hot hot. I’m taking a half day of PTO this afternoon. I’m taking Ashlee and Zander in for their annual check ups. I’ll need to give them some treats after to make up for the trauma.😆. We’ve been to today’s port of call on the Maasdam. That 14 day cruise was our best Alaska cruise. I’d do it again if it gets offered. I hope everyone has a good Monday and stays cool and safe.
aliaschief Posted July 18, 2022 #20 Share Posted July 18, 2022 Good morning! Small pockets of rain around us but not so close I should be able to get a walk in after posting. Will be calling my physicians office as soon as their open for a appointment. They are pretty good about that. If not it will be Urgent Care. I do not want to risk going overseas for a month with my sinuses acting up. Speaking of health. DW by recommendation from our doctor has been taking turmeric for her arthritis with notable relief. I’ve have been having arthritic type pain in my thumbs so I decided to try turmeric. In just a few days I have experienced a significant lessening of pain. Of course you should discuss this with your health provider but it seems to be working for me. Other then that we don’t have much on our agenda but keeping house clean, laundry and awaiting to start our adventure on Thursday. it’s “is it time to go?” Time! Prayer’s for all in need, wishes for a great week and a hearty thank you for the Daily and to all who subscribe. The price is right!
Rare Vict0riann Posted July 18, 2022 #21 Share Posted July 18, 2022 (edited) On the subject of turmeric, a neighbour suggested I try it for my hip. I took it for a few weeks, and started having difficulty swallowing, really weird. I discussed it all with my doctor, had a barium swallow, eventually was told turmeric can aggravate reflux, stop it! I can now swallow smaller pills, I haven’t tried any “horse pills” , still a bit nervous about that! Aren’t these interactions strange? cunnorl Posted July 18, 2022 #22 Share Posted July 18, 2022 Good Morning from a warm and sunny day at the beach Good selection of days. I will hug my kids and a few of the nieces and nephews that are still here. It is important to listen. I was in Kodiak on the 14 day Amsterdam trip in 2014. I am not a big fan of guacamole. Have an airport run at noon and then everyone will be gone. We all had a really great and busy time. My nephew was a little overwhelmed for the party. He deserved it, he is a great person. Really hope everyone is doing OK. Stay safe and enjoy today
Rare ottahand7 Posted July 18, 2022 #23 Share Posted July 18, 2022 Good Monday morning! We are going to get some more heat but nothing that others are suffering from. I am thinking of those in Great Britain as only a small percentage have AC. @grapau27I hope you do or have a shady corner in your beautiful garden to sit. We turned on the pump from the lake to run sprinklers for my garden as no rain was in the forecast. We pumped water for 2 hours while I worked a hose off the lake water pump giving water lovers an extra drink. As usual we had a pop up shower in the afternoon with about .1 of an inch. Even the lawn gets a drink. A big thunderstorm predicted for tonight. Fishing was ok yesterday many Bluegill from decent to tiny. At least they are beginning to bite. Prayers for all those on the care list and the people of Ukraine. Very little news from there because of all the carnage in our country. I hope it doesn't turn into a quagmire. Thank you for the Daily Reports! John lives guac I don't. I love a good Riesling on a hot summer day but today's looks pricey and probably hard to find. 27

Rare Vict0riann Posted July 18, 2022 #25 Share Posted July 18, 2022 Good morning, everyone! It is mid afternoon here in Norway! Pat has gone to the gym to try to work off the last two days’ meals, I should have gone, too, but perhaps next time… I love guacamole, but like to make it myself, then it can be properly lumpy, only avocado, with a little salt and fresh lime juice, and just before serving, some tomato, carefully cubed, for colour. There’s never any left over for storing, but if I get a lot of avocados I can prepare it without the tomato, and it freezes beautifully in plastic bags. Half an avocado is the equivalent of a whole banana for potassium, so good for leg cramps. We’ve been to kodiak, but I’m having a hard time getting my photos from the cloud. At lunch time, we were walking through the Lido, and someone said ”Madame Ann”? I couldn’t remember her, but she said she remembered us from the Zaandam in South America in 2017. Tony, @sailingdutchy, do you remember Dian? My heavens, what great memories they have. We got hugs today from our old friend Apinya too. They both work in Tamarind. From “dressy” night, last night. 35
