I asked my DW about today being a Chinese holiday for daughters and she had never heard of it.  She did mention that next week there is a Taiwan holiday to celebrate father's day.  It is on 8 August and is called "Ba Ba" day.  Eight is pronounced Ba in Mandarin, so Ba Ba is the eighth day of the eighth month.

I should admit that I didn't like the idea of a Lanai cabin.  We have cruised the old Amsterdam for about 300 days and really enjoyed a daily walk around the ship on the lower promenade deck.  To turn that public area with public deck chairs into private areas in front of the lanai cabins just seemed wrong to me.  Fortunately the change was made in 2018, and we last cruised on her on the 2017 WC.

Question. Do I need to do Verifly for our cruise in November. Won’t be flying anywhere as we will drive to the port at home.

Maybe this will help answer your question.  We were on the first cruise to try it and had very late notice and I couldn’t maneuver it.  Just took all paper documentation to port and all was ok.  BTW, we also drive to FLL.

Kay, thank you. I’m more comfortable with paper.

I'm a boot and suspenders person and would likely try to do both.  Apparently, for those boarding Nieuw Statendam in Boston things were a lot smoother for people who had Verifly.  I do, however, find Verifly not well thought out.

I mostly agree.  For me, the Promenade deck was always a place for walking (Crystal never had loungers on the promenade deck) but I always found ample space to walk whether the chairs were fully public or assigned to cabins,  I hadn't remembered if the Amsterdam ever got Lanai cabins but I think the Rotterdam had them even on my first modern HAL cruise in 2011.

It's been a while since I've posted---enjoyed a Cabo Family trip (all 9 of us)...great weather, too.

🚶‍♂️My husband and I really enjoyed our time in the lanai cabins while on the Volendam and Maasdam. He likes walking the deck in the early morning ......👍so convenient.  Just sayin'.

Hope everyone on the board is fine. 😊Have a good afternoon!

Hi Sandi, I am sending you well wishes for your trip tomorrow. Have a wonderful time and hug our Sadie for me. Xx

Joy, I will try to hug her but DD says she's teething so biting some.  I hope she decides she likes her Mimi and wouldn't dare sink those baby teeth into me!  Should be interesting!  Thanks for the well wishes for our drive.  😘

@grapau27 Each time you post a picture of fish & chips with a side of mushy peas I want to hop on a flight to England!

@Horizon chaser 1957 Great advice!

@rafinmd Thanks for the info on John Cruise. I'll put him on ignore!

@AncientWanderer Thanks for the Havana cabana pictures. I had been trying to visualize it from descriptions. Not sure it's my cup of tea!

@HAL Sailer  about Graham's food porn pictures.....  @grapau27secretly works for the British tourism cabinet-first he sells chocolate, and then he posts food porn so that we all want to go to England.  Tourism there has tripled by hungry Americans and Canadians recently....

@StLouisCruisersSafe travels tomorrow and have a wonderful time with the family.

Hugs to you all today and all ways.  Did I miss pictures of Shadow aka Little today?  It has been a day....

I was wondering the same….

@kazu Everything ok?  Shadow/Little is such a beauty and seems to be very intelligent, just a bit traumatized by her relocation. 💕🐕

I’m sorry.

I had multi quotes ready to do last night and just didn’t have the strength last night or today.  In fact, I crashed last night.

@Seasick Sailor -yes I  had to acknowledge the post on the Future Cruise Listing.

I hope I have the energy tomorrow -otherwise it will be Saturday.  I am just plain exhausted and accomplishing nothing.  Other than Little Shadow.

I guess I can’t handle stress well.  Yesterday I was on the phone for forever on hold with Aeroplan after they changed my flight again and I now had a 13 hour connection time. No thanks.

My fridge was making funny noises  - cleaned out the freezer - tried to clean as best I could and the noise.stopped. But, I know it’s too warm so I have been making a multitude of trips downstairs ( the cheapo fridge that is still working)

A new fridge is ordered but will won’t get her until Tuesday and it’s local and my trusted appliance place.  Going to be a a long few days walking down those stairs and back.

I am just done with problems in this house since Jose died. It seems like everything is caving in.

But never fear, Little Shadow doesn’t know that;  She’s a happy camper other than “IN” and now nipping because she wants to play.  She’s definitely come out of her shell.  She has met my dogs’ 2nd mother and was enchanted with her in a very few minute and nuzzling her in 15.  She has really come around so far.  I would say she is out of her shell.

It’s hard to get pics of her though because of the way she prances and jumps

In any case if I am not on tomorrow, no worries. I just feel badly I couldn’t; even acknowledge the posts I wanted to.  Have a great night all.   This stuff used to be a piece of cake.  Now it’s not.

I feel badly I didn’t do the posts I wanted to last night but for some reason any stress overwhelms me because I have no one to talk to about the options and I instinctly reach out my soul mate that isn’t here.

Sorry for the pity party.  I’ll be back when I can keep up.

@kazu  Jacqui, sorry that you need a new fridge, do you have a good friend nearby with whom you can discuss options?

Please take time for yourself,  just post here as you feel able, I'm sure that we all understand if you have a day/days off from posting.

Not sure if you have mentioned your injured toe since shadow arrived, is it fully healed now?

Terri, thanks for asking the doctor about the pain behind the knee after Covid.  If there are many of us I wonder if they will figure out a way to ease this pain?  Very interesting information.

As for the rest of your visit, I must say Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville sound like the docs there really know what they're doing!  It's unfortunate there are so many issues you have to worry about each day, and so many treatments and doctor visits back and forth.  But the good news is you're not getting the run around down there.  I hope the injections you got help, too.  Take care!

Sandi, i hope this info helps you a bit.

I hope you have a great trip  to see your family.

As for the back and forth, the Ortho Doc was very upset that the scheduler did not set me up to see him on Monday since he had an opening.  He is aware that i live in SC and always tries to accommodate me when i am there.  It is his schedulers who don’t want to know it.

I also have been worried about blood clots since I already suffered from a DVT and then pulmonary emboli after a long plane ride.  Thankfully I will have an ultrasound/Doppler on Monday.  Hopefully to put my worries to rest.

The Docs at the Mayo are the best.  i have a lot of faith in them.  They are not quick to operate and find every conservative method first.  Maybe it is because they are on salary and do not get paid by how many patients they see.  They all work together and refer you to whom they feel you need to see.

I have been very happy with my health care there.  The only problem is the traveling.

thanks for the good wishes.  I hope the injections work too.  We will see in a few days.

Happy travels. Don’t forget the compression stockings.

Terri

Thanks ♥️

My toe is still protected but from my limited knowledge from DH it is nearly healed -it’s just sensive until another layer of skin comes in.
