Good morning all!

Another sunny (!) day in the PNW, heading to a high of 82F today.

Friendship is extremely important to me and I value all my friendships, old and new.  Forgiveness is important although difficult at times.  I've added a few photos here of WA State lighthouses (not my photos).  Gerry @ger_77how interesting about the lighthouse on the frozen tundra!  Thank you for sharing that.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks that quote is kind of odd...the part "principally dealings with men" doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me....maybe I need more coffee! It makes it sound like women don't deal with each other (?)

Will pass on the red wine and drink.  I like salmon, but would prefer it cooked differently, maybe with a fresh spinach salad.  Not a fan of cooked spinach.  Tacos sound good for dinner tonight.

I have many photos of the town itself but perhaps someone else would like to add some.  If not I can always add some later.  I need to spend time with DD now while I can.

Thank you for a fantastic selection of photos Sandi.

I once asked a rabbi whether it was required to forgive someone who didn't want to be forgiven. She said it wasn't, but that it might be good for one's mental health.

My town is on a river that is a tributary of the Susquehanna, and this weekend I'll be at the headwater of the Susquehanna, Otsego Lake in Cooperstown. I would happily make salmon with spinach if I had any salmon. I haven't been to Ponta Delgada, and the transatlantic itinerary I have booked for next year doesn't call there.

I'm in a significant amount of pain after officiating at two services yesterday, and under orders from the gastroenterologist not to take ibuprofen, any other NSAID, or most anti-inflammatories for a while, because of post-colonoscopy bleeding risk. And my acupuncturist is driving around Norway in an RV.

A thread on another site is discussing how many of us, in two years without travel, have forgotten how to pack, so here's a reminder.

Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

Friendships are important. Forgiveness is something to strive for. I like to photograph lighthouses on my travels. Hmmm on the quote!

I'll pass on the meal (fish) and drink. Yes to the wine.

I've been to Portugal, but not Ponta Delgada. Thanks for the photos.

Hot and humid continues. Supposedly on Thursday we'll get some cooler, drier air from Canada! Last night around 10 my eye became red and light sensitive. I've never had a uveitis flare occur at night, and there wasn't a lot of time to put in drops before I needed to sleep. I did the best I could. Fortunately, it seems to have cleared by this AM.

@kazu Thinking of you.

@Paw13 Thank you for Father David's sermon.

@Lady Hudson Lots going on with you; thanks for checking in.

@smitty34877 I hope you are all improving.

@StLouisCruisers It sounds like good family times in Cincy.

@ottahand7 I'm glad you're feeling better. I've been having some palpitations, but my thyroid numbers were off, so hopefully lowering the dose of medication fixes it.

@Overhead Fred I'm glad you made it there safely.

@Mr. Boston Sorry to hear the appliance gremlin got you.

@HAL Sailer Thank you for sharing that wonderful story of forgiveness.

@mamaofami Prayers for DD, DGS and all in Israel to stay safe!

@Quartzsite Cruiser Amazing photos as usual.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List.

Stay safe everyone.

You are very welcome Vanessa.

Graham wanted everyone to see David's sermons and only asked me to post them in case they were removed because of a grudge against him from a lurker.

Thank you all for your nice words and Graham will continue to post the sermons next week as I don't normally go on social media.

I will pop in again if Graham is unable to post at anytime.

Lots of Love.

Pauline 😘❤️

Good Morning, Dailyites!  A big thank you to all who visit here.  Cheers 🥂 to those on the celebratory list and hugs 🤗 to those on the care list.

We have stopped at Ponta Delgada four times during Transatlantics -- December 4, 2011, Celebrity Solstice; November 18, 2015, Island Princess; April 9, 2017, Regal Princess; and April 21, 2019, also Regal Princess.

@StLouisCruisersSandi, and @Quartzsite CruiserLenda, have pretty much covered everything we saw and then some, but we did have a unique experience the first time we called there.  We took a ships tour out to the lakes and Sete Cidades as they have shown.  When we got to St. Nicholas church they were having a celebration (maybe it was St. Nicholas' Saints Day??).  The entrance to the church as well as the streets were decorated with flowers and we even saw a portion of the procession.

Have a great Sunday!

I have been lucky enough to paddle and camp along the PA portion of the Susquehanna River Trail.  Never made it to the headwater in NY.  Did you know it is the longest River on the east coast, 444 miles.

Yesterday at the grocery store, I ran into a friend, who since Covid, I have only seen her at Krogers....she is off on an Alaskan cruise in a coupe of weeks. We told her about our Alaskan cruise next year.  She is cruising Princess, for 10 days, and she said they must be hurting, as they gave her everything- all included, all packages, even upgraded her to a suite for 3800.  I forgot to ask her if that included air.

@HAL Sailer thank you for your story today.  It is hard to come into a family when the family is so established.  My mother in law was and still is best friends with my DH's first wife.  So when we visit, I feel a "ghost" in the room all the time.  His brothers on the other hand, include me as sister, and did so before we were even married.

Trust me @kochleffel I am not laughing at your pain, but the packing skills.  The minute we get suitcases out, the cats move in. All clothing quite furry by the time we get to where we are going.  I start packing in an empty drawer now and then throw it all in the suitcase the day before departure.  DH just packs the night before, with a lot of help from me.  I used to think that he could do it by himself, but now every piece of clothing must have a second opinion.  I keep telling him to create a list, how many days, what he will be doing, does he want to dress for dinner?  Too much work he says, so I sit there in the bedroom, saying things like, do you have enough socks?  Undies?  Shorts, T-shirts, what will you wear on Gala nights? around 11 p.m. when we need to hit the road by 7a.m.  Ahh life....

I find that traveling on Sundays is the worst day to travel, not because of traffic, but because every Cracker Barrel is full between point A and point B and getting a simple breakfast takes more time, and we end up getting to place point b later than when we should.  Oh well, it's not that important, but i wonder what day you guys hate to travel on?

My almost-Maine coon cat, who was long-haired and double-coated, got into every suitcase. I think he wanted to make sure I arrived at the destination with a sufficient amount of cat hair, that is, about enough to make another cat.

The Long Beach Light:

Lighthouse.jpg.83ec14eadc781ede646cc52b245d5f15.jpg

Located at end of the breakwater at the entrance to the Long Beach, CA Harbor, it is considered by many to be "The World's Ugliest Lighthouse."

Inside the marina much more convenient for tourists is the Lion's Lighthouse, a nonfunctional structure that is, admittedly, prettier.

Not to be confused is Parker's Lighthouse a restaurant located across the channel, no more than a few hundred yards, from the Lion's Lighthouse.

Today's sunrise is from my 2018 Grand Alaska/Panama trip.  On August 7 I boarded Amtrak's Coast Starlight in Portland on the way from the Westerdam in Vancouver to the Crystal Symphony in San Francisco.

Kay, thank you for sharing that!  The church must decide to celebrate their saint's day on the Sunday closest to the actual feast day.  It reminds me of the Good Friday celebrations in Antigua, Guatemala.

Thanks also to Lenda for the story on Oct. 4, 2001, shortly after 9/11.  That crew member must not have had all his screws tightened.  Oh, and great pictures, too!
