miyanc Posted October 5, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2022 Actually 3/4 of family has it. My question is if they are still giving any refunds for days in quarantine? Little info out there about it, before yes, but not much on what happens during. I sure am glad some valuable resources were removed. For the record I purchased the cruise in June 22 and have travel insurance purchased thru rcl. I have been in quarantine since day 1( late that night actually) my wife 2 days ago and my son today. If I test positive tomorrow, I am stuck the entire 8 days. I feel better but tested myself this morning and was positive. Royal has been great so far. We will also be unable to use the 3 night dining we had scheduled, I hope we get refunded for that as well.

I think you get prorated cruise fare. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/content/dam/royal/resources/pdf/covid-19-cancellations-and-refunds-policy.pdf FOR ALL RCI CRUISES BOOKED ON OR AFTER THE EFFECTIVE DATE ON SAILINGS SCHEDULED TO SAIL ON OR BEFORE APRIL 30, 2023 Denial of Embarkation or Reboarding; Quarantine and/or Disembarkation • If you are denied embarkation or reboarding, or quarantined or disembarked during your cruise, due to testing positive for COVID-19 or being suspected of having COVID-19, you are entitled to a refund for the cruise fare paid to RCI in the event of denial at embarkation, or a pro-rated refund for the unused portion of your cruise fare in all other cases. If you are required to quarantine onboard the vessel, days spent in quarantine shall be treated as unused days of the cruise.
firefly333 Posted October 5, 2022 #6 Share Posted October 5, 2022 We had quite few on liberty reported positive for covid. I got a stomach reaction, I think to food which others also reported, so we posted a poll about being sick. Quite a few said covid. I knew before I boarded it had been on the previous week. I am glad to hear you are happy with the care and hope you get what refunds you want. Seems like people are having to learn to cruise with covid so not sure what oct protocols are. I am sure we had positives. Reported on roll call. It's still around.

That should be refunded to OBC. Pro rated refund for days in quarantine should still apply -make sure you get in writing.
miyanc Posted October 5, 2022 Author #8 Share Posted October 5, 2022 Haven't really been up to arguing strength. Talking was rough for a bit. Better now. Do I make my stand with the ship or 800 or both?

I would call Guest Services and ask what the policy is and make sure you have all refund information in hand before you leave the ship.

RoperDK Posted October 6, 2022 #14 Share Posted October 6, 2022 Hope you and your group feel better soon. I might have missed it, but did you quarantine in your original cabin or were you removed to the lower decks. I haven't heard much about the current quarantine process. Like I said royal has been great. Or maybe that's a bit broad. Guest services. Room services, stewards and medical staff have been great. We had moved up to ov balcony before sail date thru paying for upgrades from inside gty. This is an off peak cruise so not 100 full. The first 24 hours I stayed in the room even tho they offered to move someone. My wife was a bit overwelmed with the situation and we needed some time to think what was best. The next day we called and a room 3 doors down was open so it's worked out great. So we have been in the 2 rooms.

It applies to cruise booked on or after August 8, but the OP booked before that in June. I think the policy governing prior bookings expired September 30 as indicated in the link to the FAQ in post #2. It addresses a refund for cancellation prior to the cruise, but that is the only form of assistance I see after September 30.

Do they still put you in quarantine deck? If so, the 4th person sailing with them would not be able to get his seapass. And if that 4th person is under 18, no go there. They should be able to refund dining pkg to credit card on file.

Babr Posted October 6, 2022 #22 Share Posted October 6, 2022 (edited) https://www.royalcaribbean.com/content/dam/royal/resources/pdf/covid-19-cancellations-and-refunds-policy.pdf I think I misread the policy. It is effective as of August 8 and applies to all sailings from then until April 2023. The difference is that RCI was providing onboard medical care and shoreside quarantine assistance that ended Sept. 30. The prorated refund for unused days remains. klfrodo Posted October 6, 2022 #24 Share Posted October 6, 2022 Doesn’t travel insurance cover quarantine? I know many policies do. Just not sure about your policy. Should be defined under Trip Interruption.

Sounds like you arrived to your cruise already with COVID, your symptoms worsened that day, and it spread to your family while on the cruise. Wow. Talk about bad timing.
