Just got into our room at the Hampton, mid beach. 
Older. Yes OLD, hotel. 
 

Room smaller than a balcony cabin on Royal Oasis. ( saw pictures)😜

 

No bed bugs. 

 

 

Now Bathroom is circa 1950’s  including shower curtain. 

 

 

But for only one night $461 ish. 
 

Damn I wonder what a real hotel room would cost!

Inquired about transportation to port. This Hampton does not provide any type of transfers. 
But:

11 miles to port. 

With traffic 24 min. 
Cab $60ish

Uber starting at $40

We ride at dawn. Well, actually, we rode at 11.
 

The larger wave is great. Faster, taller, wider and the only rule we heard was no stand up on the boggie board. It was hard to not use the entire wave surface, I’m used to the narrow wave on the ship.

I think Owen liked the young female staff member that helped load him into the wave. For those that are curious, @Yorkvillain she makes her appearance at the start of the video.

I'm in Miami at my hotel. Palm tree outside my window. Love it here. 

 

He gave me directions to mexican, fish and a coffee shop. Going out to look for a hearty meal. We got something resembling melba toast on the flight.  

 

Hooray! I'll catch up after food.

Excellent! So sorry to hear about your travel troubles. It was beginning to remind me of the movie "Trains, Planes and automobiles".  Hopefully you'll be able to laugh about it as you share your story  at the Schooner Bar. Focus on the upcoming fun this and leave the hotel fight for when you return.

About $800/night is what we will be paying after our original hotel stiffed us.

Note to self. Remember this Hampton Inn to never book it. No wonder they don't show pictures of the bathroom on their website. Booking with HH points is even high for that property.  Thanks for the heads-up.  Bon Voyage. 🍷

I went over and asked. They wouldn't fly me out until 6 pm. I'd have to hang around the airport. 

 

Idk if its $525 future credit or cash. 

 

The time difference is miami is 1 hour later than texas time. So I lose a hour flying here. 

 

That airport in  Miami so much walking. Hard to call my hotel when I got to the pick up area. About 1:30 Miami time. It was a pretty good offer.

We had one taker who dropped by the cabana. 
 

This lounge lizard showed up mid morning. 

 

These two came calling at lunch time. No handouts from these Canadians. 
 

Lisa had the Caesar salad.  Owen had a chicken sandwich. I had the Caribbean Salad, pictured below. Candied pecans, chicken and other good things.

I’m guessing the young spectators probably saw you approaching and said “oh look at this old guy he’s going to kill himself”. The old guy showed them😀.

@A&L_Ont Glad you are having a good time in my "hood". It makes me realize how fortunate I am to have all this around me. When  I have siblings visit from Europe they have a great time and seem to appreciate the beach life more than I do. They are always amazed that I can drive 20 minutes and get on a cruise!

We are finally here!!!!

 

 

You can tell you are staying at a very nice hotel when the front desk host gives you a chilled glass of champagne.

 

 

Most of you have heard the horror story of Hampton Inn and Suites Miami/Brickell downtown walking us and canceling our reservations even though we confirmed them earlier in the week.

 

Linda should hopefully hear back from Hampton to make sure they don’t charge us. Unfortunately when we scrambled to get another hotel they required full payment since it was the day of and they were full.

 

 

AKA hotel in Brickell is really beautiful and it should be for $800/night. At least we get complimentary breakfast.

 

 

The rooms are very nice

 

 

 

You can see a Carnival ship in the distance.

 

 

 

 

Really nice bathroom.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dinner tonight at “Dolores but you can call me Loleta.” Hostess says it really good. More later I need to calm down and take deep breaths after today.
