Just boarded the Vision of the Seas and the line up to get into the Windjammer is backed up outside past the pool on deck 9. I’ve never seen anything like that before in all my cruises.  Music on outside deck is great tho!

We never EVER try to go to the WJ on boarding day because it’s always a zoo!!

We grab a quick bite somewhere else….

hey there. I’m on vision too!

the line was so crazy, we went to chops instead.

got here and found out why….

the health inspector boarded the ship and did surprise kitchen inspections.

so they couldn’t cook or serve.

that’s why.

we were delayed eating in chops too

That does explain a few things … certainly not what you’re used to once in the windjammer … plastic forks and knives as well as paper plates.  Everything has a cause and effect.

We’ve been cruising since mid January and this is our 5th ship during that time so a little hiccup is probably good for my weight…

enjoy your cruise!

Does Vision still have an awkwardly-placed buffet station just inside the main doors, causing people serving themselves to block access for other people just trying to walk into the room?

Both Grandeur and Enchantment figured out how to avoid that in an identical space.

If you mean this, Enchantment has the name station.

Am I reading this correctly? They are using disposable utensils and plates in the WJ on Vision now???

Likely just a reaction to quickly overcome something about the health inspection - I would hope they sort whatever the issue was and resume normal flatware.

We had a similar "WJ delay" on Allure several weeks back after some needed cleaning and inspections due to previous Noro cases.  Maybe 15 minutes, but I do suspect the line grew behind us and snaked out the hallway/decks.  By 1pm, Solarium Bistro opened on time and took much of the load off WJ.

No other notable delays the rest of the cruise.

Enchantment has the table in the exact same space as vision. Right in the door

Yes, we have never had any trouble getting the 10:30 boarding time, so we are among the first to board -- after suites, etc.  We usually have no trouble getting a window seat.

The problem with the Windjammer Day 1 is that some people "set up camp" and plan to sit and relax until the captain announces that they've opened the staterooms.

Well, they stayed open, right?

Seriously, I've never noted a health inspection score in any of the online restaurants -- do they have them like American restaurants do?
