Bridge on Crystal yet?

As I posted in response to the FAQ thread, I would be shocked if there is bridge on cruises without sea days.  I play bridge on every ship.  No cruise line has ACBL sanctioned bridge on port days when cruisers are off the ship exploring the ports.

Darlin’, I understand that in YOUR experience, that has been the case, on Crystal and on other lines. In MY experience, NO Crystal cruise ever sailed without a bridge instructor in the a.m. on sea days, and a sanctioned game around 2 pm.

I agree there were no lessons on port days. I might even agree that on one day in a particularly juicy port, the 2 pm game was not ACBL-sanctioned.

What I meant to explain is that I think you purposely chose Crystal cruises for the at-sea days.

I think I told you that Steve Smolen ran the bridge program on our only Oceania, but I don’t know if he ever had enough of a turn-out any day for a sanctioned game. It was late afternoon. Only one other guest besides Mr B and I showed up. It was a VERY port-intensive Mediterranean cruise. He did quite a few B2B2Bs.

I agree -- sea days lessons in the am and sanctioned game in the pm.  Standard for all lines, including Crystal.

Why would there be a bridge instructor on a cruise without at least several sea days if there is no program on those days?  No lessons and no sanctioned game.

I have never seen that on any line.

I choose all cruises for sea days.  LOL  I want to play bridge.

Most recently on a Regent b2b the first leg with 1 sea day had no bridge program.  The second leg, a crossing with many sea days, had bridge for the 10 days we were at sea.

I checked with the person who would know for sure..  That is what he told me.

and that would be?

It would give some confidence in your statement if if was attributed to someone - is there something sensitive about making a clear statement about Bridge on new Crystal?

I seriously think there are so many other items that we’d all like to hear about what will be implemented - and communicating that to everyone rather than having these anonymous drip feeds channeled through a guest would be a better strategy

While I would manage without a casino, the Mr. would not manage without some form of Bridge.

Crystal did have ACBL Instructors on every cruise. Many times there was a late game on a port day and no instruction.  Regent no longer offers ACBL Bridge Instructors on all sailings - only selected sailings.

Yes to ChattKat in Ca.

As I have posted, Crystal plans to have a bridge instructor(s) on every sailing as I have posted and this has been vetted with the person who knows for sure.

Bridge is one of the items covered in the Q&A but Q&A's don't always address every item for different reasons and that includes that at the time of their release either everything hasn't been finalized or not ready to be announced while other times someone has an additional question or needs more clarity.

Some people who post here have a history of being reliable with the information they impart, others, not so much. My thought, take everything posted here before Crystal announces with a grain of salt. You'll have to personally determine how large that grain might be! 🤪😉🙃

Perhaps b/c the previous cruise and the next cruise have more sea days. I was talking to a friend today who reminded me that the bridge people are often booked for several cruises in a row.

I’ve decided the person who wrote the FAQ section is somewhat clueless about what is planned.

Not sure why they haven’t updated the question about specialty dining, now that Nobu has presumably signed the contract with NC. It reminds me of when we used to wonder what was taking them so long to add entertainment and enrichment details to specific sailings. To us it seemed like it should take about five minutes. What a first-world problem THAT turned out to be, compared to what was coming down the pike.

True -- in the case of my recent Regent b2b, the bridge instructor did not get on board until the crossing.  I have no idea how Crystal will handle it.  If I recall, every one of my Crystal cruises had enough sea days for bridge.
