Thank you Sandi @StLouisCruisers for bringing us today's daily reports.

It is raining and 42°F here.

Happy Passover week for our Jewish friends.

If I have ever been stung by a nettle while outside walking I have rubbed a dandelion leaf on the sting to ease the sting.

I much prefer a thin base Romana pizza to a deep pan pizza.

We have visited Bridgetown Barbados on a cruise.

Best wishes given to all Dailyites.

Graham.

Good morning friends!  Here where I'm at in Georgia the temp is 64F, with a high of 84 and partly cloudy later on.  We are going to DH's hygienist appointment this morning and perhaps do a few errands afterwards.

Thanks go to RIch @richwmn for accumulating all the info needed for the Daily and Fleet Report.  The World Cruise is having a sea day today and like Rich said left at 7 am from Agadir for some daytime cruising to Casablanca.  Today's days of celebration are Deep Dish Pizza Day, Go For Broke Day and National Dandelion Day.  I love pizza but really prefer thinner crust.  I think that type is more popular than deep dish but don't let a Chicagoan hear you say that!  Go for broke sounds a little risky to me!  Dandelions are a curse in your yard but many people like to eat them as greens.  I can do without.  The quote today is sometimes true unfortunately.  But it sounds amusing!

The meal today I'm going to take a pass on however I'm sure Debbie @dfish can make it seem palatable.  Since I don't even know what Tofu Banh Mi is I could be all wrong.  The drink sounds refreshing and the wine is a complete mystery to me.  Thanks go to Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for helping us with descriptions.

Prayers to all our Daily friends and family on the Care list.   Also to those around the world in troubling situations - may each day bring better news for all!  🙏  A salute to those on the Celebration list.  Good news for some of us and happy cruising to all those on a ship.🚢🥂  Thanks to Vanessa @JazzyV for staying on top of the lists for us.  What a great job she does even while preparing for her wonderful voyage ahead.

Today's port is Bridgetown, Barbados.  It was posted here twice before on July 7, 2021 and August 30, 2022 so I will post the links to those dates for your convenience.  Feel free to go back in time and read a few pages.  It can bring back memories of what those days held for us, good and bad.  I've been once to Bridgetown and enjoy a nice tour there so you can suffer through my photos once again right after the links.😉

But first I got a report around 9 pm on last night's FC Dallas game.  They won 3 - 0 on a windy evening in the Dallas area on a slightly sloping field.  Not ideal!  This time they tried out Ren as a right wing which I have no idea what that position does.  He didn't have the ball as much but did set up a goal for another player and goals are the name of the game in soccer!  Third game is a little earlier this evening on a better field.  Stay tuned!

Here is my report on our port of the day.

We went to Bridgetown, Barbados in 2015 on Ruby Princess circumnavigating South America from Ft. Lauderdale.  I took a tour that day and enjoyed it as I recall.  My tour in Bridgetown took me many places for a good overall view of the area.  First we went to Gun Hill Signal Station, a military outpost built in 1818 that once served as a lookout for approaching ships.  enhance

enhance

The buildings have been restored by the National Trust.  You could see all the other signal stations from here.enhance

In the distance are the cruise ships in port.enhance

Next we stopped at Orchid World for a very informal look at the local orchids as well as other plants such as the poinsettia bush.enhance

enhance

enhance

enhance

enhance

enhance

Last we visited Sunbury Plantation, a beautifully restored monument to plantation life of a bygone era.  We were told the walls were two feet deep helping to keep it cool inside.  enhance

enhance

enhance

Some of those thick wallsenhance

enhance

Outside we were given a demonstration on how to make rum punch and cod fish cakes.  We had plenty of samples and everyone had a good, old time!enhance

Heading back to the ship we passed all the sugar cane fields and a rum distillery.  Barbados rum is known worldwide.enhance

Hope everyone enjoys a safe, happy and Worthy Wednesday!  Off to the treadmill and possibly a quick visit to the gym this morning.

Good morning Graham.  Thanks for the great explanations today of our various days of celebration.  It helps to understand some of the weird days people decide we must celebrate each every year.  Sorry about the rain but we were getting sick of it here so we sent some across the pond to you!!😆

Nice photos Sandi.

Right wing is outside right.

Left wing is outside left.

Basically his job is to be near the right touch line and supply crosses into the box  for a forward to score goals from.

In England they are expected to help their team on the right side of defense too if their right back(defender) ventures to far forward.

One of our players at Sunderland Lynden Gooch an American who has been with us for over 10 years is used in both positions.

It can be a tiring position to play.

My advice to Ren.

Practice kicking the ball with his left and right foot so he is comfortable using either foot and improve his heading the ball ability.

The goalscorer gets all the praise and the top money in the professional game  and if he can get that position in the team he could go far.

Graham.

Good morning.  Today's drink of the day is our absolute favorite!!  Consume many on a BHB.

Bahama Mama cocktail:

Ingredients
1 part DeKuyper® Creme de Banana Liqueur
1 part Cruzan® Coconut Rum
1 part Cruzan® Hurricane Proof® Rum
1 part Grenadine
2 parts Pineapple Juice
2 parts Orange Juice

Instructions
Build over ice, stir gently, and serve.

Our favorite way of making it is from the bartender on the Rotterdam:
Fill shaker with ice.  Add:
1 part white rum
1 part coconut rum
2 parts pineapple juice
2 parts orange juice
splash grenadine
Shake well and drink!
We use the orange pineapple juice mix from the supermarket.

Good morning.  Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Report.

It's stormy today, lots of thunder and lightning overnight and a rainfall warning for today.  There could be flooding in low lying areas.  I think I'll stay in.

Not a fan of deep dish pizza, I like thin crust.  I don't think I'll Go for Broke today, maybe some other time.  It's too early for dandelions here.

Love the quote.

I'll pass on the meal.  The drink sounds great, hope the wine is tasty too.

Thanks for the pictures of Bridgetown, I've never been there.  Love the orchids, thanks for sharing.

Prayers for everyone.  Cheers for all the celebrations.

Have a wonderful day.

Stay safe.

Good morning everyone.  Thanks for the daily report.  I think I’ll skip today’s meal suggestion and celebrate deep dish pizza!  I’ll make sure to keep an eye out for dandelions although I haven’t seen any yet.  Not sure about the quote three guests don’t seem like a pest.  I have been to today’s port but only to transfer from a ship to a catamaran.  Prayers for everyone on our prayer list today.  Cheers to those of you celebrating happy events!

You really know your soccer, Graham!  With your past experience and knowledge you should be a coach for a young group of soccer players.  It IS a lot of work though and you have cruises and vacations planned so forget I said that.  😂  Thanks for explaining the right and left wing for me.  I'll remind Ren to practice right and left foot kicking. 🏃‍♂️

Thank you Sandi.

I'm sure Ren will appreciate you passing on training ideas and will be amazed at your knowledge.

A lot of players can only kick with their strong foot and they miss goalscoring opportunities by only using one foot because they get tackled moving the ball to their good foot to shoot at goal

He should practice his ball control where he gets someone to pass the ball to him at different heights and he can instantly control the ball with his feet, chest or head.

This will give him an edge if an opposition player tries to come in and tackle him.

Practice sprinting too as pace is a big factor in scoring goals and getting into goal scoring positions.

A lot of modern coaches are too negative and fill the players heads with too many tactics.

Sending Ren my best wishes and hope he can make it big in the game.

Graham.

Good Passover to all those celebrating!  ✡️

It’ll be a HOT day in Maryland expected to break the 86F record.

Dandelions greens are good for the liver!  My DBIL and also neighbors used to make excellent dandelion wine. Not sure if that is good for the liver but it was good for “gladdening the heart”!

Bridgetown Barbados is a nice port if call with a good variety of interesting things to do. Here’s my Barbados sunset from March 2nd from Rotterdam.

Blessings to all in need of healing, comfort or hope…. thankfully Vanessa will remind us with her excellent tracking of our Care list. And to all the citizens of Ukraine 🇺🇦, those recovering from the recent horrific storms and other disasters near and far.

Cheers to those celebrating milestones, Life is Good!  You remind us of that on our tougher days! 🥂💐🎉

Smooth seas for all the cruisers, and safe travels to all heading out to be with loved ones these holidays.

I’ll report back after we get 1st week results on DH’s eye surgery followup this afternoon 🤞. (No news from my friend with her DH in ICU in what seems like his last days.) Thank you for your support.

Thank you for starting our day, Sandi! Loved the pictures of Ren scoring & the celebration with his teammates!  Rich, thank you for setting things up, so we can keep going. Vanessa, thank you for capturing & sharing our happenings.

A really dense fog this morning. Seems to be moving in from the shore. Heading to another nursery this morning to hunt for the rest of the plants on my list. Then Bindi walks, chores and my HIIT class.

Domaine Huet Vouvray Sec Le Haut-Lieu 2021

This Loire wine sounds perfect for a hot, humid day!  Light, dry and not too sweet! And fairly easy to find! Lots of consumer and critic fans. Quite a few online distributors with prices starting at $31.99.

Winemaker Notes

#83 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2022

The original Huët vineyard is nearly 9 hA. It has the richest soils of the domaine’s three crus - a deep limestone-clay - and the wines are generally the estate’s most approachable. In some vintages, small quantities from nearby estate parcels may be added to Le Haut-Lieu.

V94 Vinous
This is a very fine, fragrant and floral Le Haut Lieu Sec. While delicate, the 2021 fills the mouth with a cloud of pure fruit reminiscent of violets, apple and nectarine skin. There's a fine sinew that pulls the wine through on the finish. It can be approached in its youth but will go on and on.
JS93 James Suckling

A wealth of sliced-pear, white-peach and citrus-zest aromas with a hint of honeycomb makes this dry Vouvray very appealing. Abundant succulence in spite of the rather sleek palate. Long, very silky finish with impeccable balance. From bio dynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

WS91 Wine Spectator

An elegant white with beautiful fruit purity, featuring freshly juiced apple, fleshy lychee and baking spice notes that build in intensity on the palate. Shows salty acidity that's nicely set against a buttercream note, with salted caramel marking the crackling finish.

Good morning Dailyites!  Hope I make it on the first page.  Things are good here on the Rotterdam, but suddenly my clothes seem to have gotten tighter.  I’m not sure why…

we have been to Bridgetown a few times.  It’s an interesting spot.  I’m enjoying seeing the pictures.

we had a sort-of M&G yesterday, but I think the person organizing didn’t show up.  Maybe he forgot - I did ask around for him, but no one knew who he was.  Very strange.  There must have been around 30 people there.

Happy Hump Day. Thank you Rich, Sandi, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann.  I have updated my list of Daily milestones to add April 1 as the premier of "This Day in History.  I believe it's also the first full day of Passover.  I think I'll pass on the days today  as well as the tofu,  I prefer Sandi's version of the quote.  I've been to Barbados many times as ports of call as well as disembarking there from Windstar Ttansatlantics,  My alternative menu suggestion is Chilled Blueberry Soup, Sauteed Pork Chop, and Viennese Apple Strudel as served on MS Zaandam April 5, 2017:

thanks for the Daily,
I smiled reading National Dandelion Day.  Brings back memories of twisting stems together to make dandelion necklaces when I was young.

The quote made me laugh.  Thank goodness the ships’ crews don’t feel that way about any of us!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy day.

Good morning everyone. It is cloudy and going up to fifty later. I will take a pass on the deep, dish pizza  and understand going for broke as a gambling thing. We have not been to the port and can usually have visitors for more than three days without difficulty. I look forward to finding out more about the tofu from Debbie @dfish.

I am crossing my fingers that all works out today as the new aide will be with Tana when DH and I head out for an appointment. DD is available is needed so it should be fine.

Happy Birthday to Edi  @NextOne!

@tupper10, I hope all goes well with your surgery today and that you heal quickly.

@marshhawk, Annie, I am thinking of you this morning when you have your scan. Sending hugs.
