I have since found out it was a fall and broken hip. Made me think of your comment helping someone not fall. Good reminder fir everyone to be cautious.  Cheers!

hope they recover well &  have good insurance. It is .essential...

We are on Medicare with supp med ins...neither cover us  out of the US.  We always buy extra medical  and evac insurance..

Our neighbor fell in hotel shower/ tub in Athens while on an art tour and suffered a broken hip.. Had surgery there, and then had  to hire a travel nurse to accompany her home.. She is doing well  now and her travel insurance covered almost 100 %.

A good lesson now why insurance protection can make sense for some. Thank you and cheers from the Silhouette!

Do you know if the fish in Murano is just grilled? Any flour on it? Just planning ahead for our upcoming cruise and first time to Murano. I’m gluten free so just trying to find out.

They will do the Dover Sole without the flour for those on a gluten free diet.

Day 10 Recap ( At Sea Day 6/6 )

( Morning Day 11 = LAAAANNNDDD! 😱 )

🍽️ OVC: Did the usual eggs, sausage, bacon and coffee ️.

🛋️ Lounger: Tried out a few new loungers, but they were wet. After some towels I made it awhile but the breeze was a bit chilly.

🍽️ OVC: Hit the OVC for a quick bite.  Found rice and added some protein.  Was just enough after the large meal the night before.

Casino: See prior post.  My new name is “Jackpot” with some casino staff.  😂 I still can’t believe I hit that.  I thought the machine just stopped like a defective Ford Pinto.

🍍Fruit Plate: See picture below.  I liked the options.

🏋️ Gym: 4 miles logged!  Started The Diplomat on Netflix.  Episode 1 was good.  Will download the season now.

🍣 Sushi on Five: Wanted something light since my last Tuscan Grille is the following day.  Edamame, my sushi roll concoction and some tuna nigiri.  While it was packed for lunch, I was one of three tables.  Then the band started playing and it turned into the best seat to sit back and listen.

🎲 Craps: A lively bunch.  Walked away exactly even.

Overall Feeling: I MADE IT!  Nice to see land.  Really miss my family.  Could fly home today, but will enjoy three more before the long travel day.

Cheers from the Silhouette!

Day 11 1/2 Recap ( Cork, Ireland 🇮🇪 )

LLLAAANNNDDD!  😱 After six consecutive at sea days we strike land. Vegetation. Dirt.

☀️ Weather: Spectacular! 62 degrees with sun. In the sun it’s +10 or 72 degrees “feels like”.

🍽️ OVC: Showered up and hit the OVC for the usual fried eggs and sausage links with a double shot cafe americano.

Port: Ship 🚢 pulls right up. They have metal bridges from the gangway off Deck 2 to get on and off. (see picture).

Cobh, Ireland: It’s Sunday, so most shops are closed. A short walk to the right exiting the ship is a welcome area. I decided to get some walking in. The map showed a park on the water I went to first. Then I made it up the hill to Saint Colman’s Cathedral. Very pretty views.

Town Center: The town center had a few coffee shops and pubs open. I decided when in Ireland 🇮🇪 I need a Guinness.  Found The Rob Roy Bar with a “Welcome Celebrity Silhouette” written on their sign.  Dropped in for a 1/2 pint and Irish coffee.

Cruise Director Mike Encounter: I am sitting at the bar and this guy (who kinda looks similar to me) orders three pints.  I said “Hey Mike did you know we are doppelgängers?” I proceeded to tell him all the accolades I’ve received this cruise. 😂 He loved the story and said we could do a selfie on the ship. I felt good out of all the pubs to get a Guinness he chose the one I was sitting in.

🍭 Candy Store: Found the cutest candy store named Auntie Nellie’s. Wifey is a Disney freak so I bought the three Disney Princess Pez dispensers. Also noticed a sign asking if you “Fancy an Ice Cream?” 😆.

🍍Fruit Plate: Fruit plate arrived at 2pm.  I ate it as a late light lunch. Gonna try to get in Tuscan Grille early. Do not think it should be a problem as tonight is lobster 🦞 night.

Cheers from the Silhouette!

Love the Rob Roy,,,last time in there a couple of years ago.

There is a guy who does a walking tour of Cobh and he takes his group for a taste of an Irish pub.

He walked into the Rob Roy and said “15 Irish coffees please” those waiting behind hearts sank.

The landlords wife said “I’ll do them” and stood at the end of the bar making them,,I think she gets this request every time a cruise ship comes in and the guide has customers.

Hope you brought some Guinness onto the ship,,I get on as you get off on the 3rd.image.jpeg.d5edc4c83b4e8f19f7b29dac8965fe68.jpeg

Day 11 2/2 Recap

🍽️ Tuscan Grille: Was able to be seated at 6:45PM and told my server Lloyd I had discussed a specific bottle of wine with Agnelo.  The wine service and view were perfect. 1/2 the bottle was decanted to consume.  I ate a lot of cheese and olives while sipping on the wine and enjoying the view of the wake from the ship.  After about an hour I asked for a Caesar salad with light dressing.  After the salad, I requested the eggplant parmesan which is a side dish, but could really be its own course.  For entree I ordered the veal marsala and meatballs.  I was stuffed and had no dessert.  Agnelo corked the remaining 1/2 of the bottle and sent it over to Charles in Murano for my last night.

🎲 Craps: Let’s not talk about it… 🙃

Cheers from the Silhouette!

Day 12 Recap ( Portland, Denmark, UK )

🍽️ OVC: We didn’t arrive until 11AM so hit the OVC for the usual.

🚌 Buses: Once off the ship there was transportation to Weymouth or Portland. Most chose Weymouth for shopping, cafe’s, etc. The Hotel Director was very agitated that our ship did not receive 20 dedicated buses requested.  As such, the line was very long once you added the Norwegian Ship across from us.  Eventually, I made it to the city center.

🛍️ Shopping:  Wifey wanted Coronation tea towels and sent me on a mission.  I finally was able to locate and purchase a few. There were some interesting shops around I took pictures of too.

🫖 Afternoon Tea:  Most seemed to gravitate to the fish and chips, but I wanted a tea experience.  I found on Trip Advisor “The Good Life Cafe” to try.  The owner was very helpful and although what I was wanting required 24 hours notice, since they were not busy she put something together for me.  It was incredible. Tea, sausage roll, cucumber, ham, egg mayonnaise and salmon sandwiches plus a scone with jelly and cream and carrot and lemon cake.  WOW!  She even taught me to extend my pinky with the turn of the tea cup.  😂

🚌 Buses Back: The line to get a bus back was wrapped around the block.  Our Hotel Director was right in the middle of it making sure things moved as best as they could, but it was suboptimal.  I walked back into town and found a taxi stand. I took a picture of the card below and after 30 minutes I was picked up and made it back to ship.  Don’t know what happened, but I think websites would have shown both ships at this small port on the same day.

Holiday: A compounding factor today was it was a holiday and many people were off.  So available services were very thin.

I am writing this a 5PM ship time and gonna hit the gym, OVC pizza and craps. We roll forward one hour for France tomorrow.

Cheers from the Silhouette!

Just a quick note to clarify two things the OP mentioned ...

I'm also on this Silhouette sailing .... we are in Portland (Dorset), a small port island 15 minutes drive from Weymouth ... and the ship parked next to us is the Regal Princess.

LOVELY day ... charming town ... would be very interested in coming back here on a land vacation to enjoy Weymouth when there aren't 2 cruise ships in port.

LOVING your posts!!!

Day 6 Recap

🌊 At Sea: Our second of six at sea days since Bermuda.  Sea’s at 9 feet or medium according to the Captain’s morning report.

Time: Lost another hour (23 hour days) to -3 from Miami EST time.

Cafe al Bacio: I have been trying to get up early to migrate to -5 hours or Ireland vs Miami time.  I was the 5th person at the cafe at 730AM.  Two cafe americano’s, two chocolate croissant’s and one regular croissant.

🛋️ Lounger: Found a spot again outside the solarium with some sun. Was a relaxing spot to vegetate for a few hours.

🍽️ MDR: With Mast Grill closed for weather I really wanted some comfort food.  The MDR had a cheeseburger, so I headed there.  Noticed Pad Thai too so I requested a small portion as a starter.  Not as good as Mast Grill, but hit the spot.

🏋🏻 GYM: Was able to get an hour or 3.5 miles in.  Not many at the gym and the seas made it challenging at times.

🍍 Fruit Plate: Much needed change from the cheese plate.  I enjoyed and adjusted my request to no mellon, so I get more strawberries and pineapple.

🍽️ Murano: My second visit and really wanted red meat.  The amuse bouche was a prosciutto that I cannot recall the balance of the offering. For staters I ordered the lobster bisque and the heirloom tomato and mozzarella salad with extra balsamic.  They were both good, but not a repeat items for me.  For entree, I ordered the rack of lamb medium with extra pan sauce, very good and I suspect it was Colorado lamb as it wasn’t gamey like Australian lamb is to me. For dessert, I loved the chocolate soufflé.  Wonderful meal, as always and I polished off the bottle I started at the last meal.

🎲 Craps: Table was bare, so I didn’t stay long. Plus, I wanted to get to sleep around 1030PM each night. Plenty of future opportunities I’m sure.

As of this morning the Captain says the seas are now 12 feet and rough all day.  Hold onto rails when walking he said.  Should improve tomorrow.

Cheers from a bumpy Silhouette!

We were on the Eclipse 2 weeks ago, doing a B2B out of Sydney. We have cruise a lot with Celebrity. This was the first time the food was not up to their standards! We always enjoyed a quick burger at the mast grill. But the burger meat was grey! Didnt look like meat, went on grey and came off grey!! Looked like lots of filler and just a mushy texture even when well done! Did you try one of the burgers from the Mast grill?

Totally surprised that Coronation memorabilia is being sold in Cobh, which is not part of UK. They split from Northern Ireland in early 20th century(3 rd May 1921).

@bnurick so glad that you are procuring those gifts for you lovely DW 🥂

Wondering if you know if you can still order dinner from the MDR via Room Service? We are in a SS on EQ in a little over 10 days.

Good morning.  I can post a picture of the room service card. For Concierge Class it’s a $9.95 charge.  Will see if I can find out.  Honestly, with the length of the dinner, it could be a good option!  I did a live review of our Equinox experience previously.

Have a magical day!

I will be on the Eclipse in October and July 2024, first time. We do a lot of Disney Cruises and their MDR is equal or better than Luminae/Blu. Their Remy/Palo is equal to Murano/Tuscan Grille. So I struggle with the Celebrity menus at times and try a make a list of what I do like and create a daily plan. This is why I did a lot of Murano, Tuscan, Craft Social chicken wings and Kobe sliders as well as the OVC pizza, which is freshly made.

I did not try Mast Grill because I was limiting my red meat intake plus it was closed a lot on a transatlantic.  The one day I wanted a burger I tried in the MDR for lunch. It was well done but fine, nothing special or gourmet about it.  I posted pictures of that meal.

Cheers!

I had to get my wife to search the internet for the store. There was very very little.  Although, she did say she found they are having a festival, so maybe street vendors will have then.  Cheers!
