Rare puppycanducruise Posted July 19, 2023 #5 Share Posted July 19, 2023 Good morning. Thanks for the Report. Happy Hump Day. A cool morning here, only 20C (50F) but it should be a sunny 26C (79F) this afternoon. New friends are great. Raspberry cake sounds yummy. I've never played words with friends. Good quote. The meal sounds tasty, looking forward to seeing the recipes. I haven't had a sloe gin fizz in years, I'd like one. I'm sure I'll like the wine too. I haven't been to today's port. Prayers for many. Cheers for all the celebrations. 32
grapau27 Posted July 19, 2023 #6 Share Posted July 19, 2023 Thank you for today's daily reports Rich @richwmn. It is currently 62°F and sunny at 11.58am here in North East England. 3 interesting days. Anything with chicken in sound's good to me. Best wishes for improved health for everyone on our care list. Happy cruising for our regular posters who are currently cruising and those due to cruise soon. Take care and stay safe. Good wishes for a great day for us all. 29
Mr. Boston Posted July 19, 2023 #7 Share Posted July 19, 2023 Good morning everyone. Thanks for today’s report with a nice collection of days. Raspberry cake with a new friend sounds perfect. A friend of mine and I regularly play Words With Friends so today we’re on. I like the quote and the meal suggestion sounds very tasty. I think that I’ll pass on the drink. I haven’t been to today’s intriguing port, I’ll bet there are some cool photos. Prayers for everyone on our list, I hope they all feel better soon. Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events today!
StLouisCruisers Posted July 19, 2023 #8 Share Posted July 19, 2023 Good morning friends! Sunrise looks pretty this morning, it's 73 with mixed clouds and sun right now. Scattered thunderstorms developing this afternoon and possibly as high as 93. ⛈️ Thank you Rich @richwmn for the Daily and Fleet Report today. With New Friends Day and National Words with Friends Day, we should have a busy time of it. As for raspberry cake, I've never had any but would happy to give it a try. The Easy Greek Chicken Gyros with Tzatziki sounds pretty specific but I bet Debbie @dfish can find a recipe like that with no problems at all. Thank you Debbie! I know I've heard of Sloe Gin Fizz but haven't a clue what it tastes like. And another pinot noir for the red wine lovers. Thanks once again to Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for their diligence in reporting on these beverages.🙂 Prayers for our Care list and all else who need them, including DB and my friend's DB Mark. 🙏 Safe travels to Chuck @catmando who has had a trying time with family issues. I hope there are no luggage issues this trip and best of luck at the doctor appointment tomorrow Chuck. Congrats to all on the Celebration list!🥂 I hope the cruising preparations are going well for everyone. We haven't begun yet. And to my neighbors Paul and Brenda plus DD Jaana, an easy day embarking Volendam in Vancouver is wished for them and everyone boarding with them. 🚢 Today's port is Devil's Island, French Guiana. The first time we had this port was September 13, 2021 and I hadn't been there yet. Last November 25 we did make it there on Volendam (along with Dixie @summer slope and her DH). It was an enjoyable day for us and I'll go collect some photos as soon as I finish up here. The link follows for your convenience in retrieving your own photos. I'm wishing everyone here a wonderful Wednesday! 33
Rare rafinmd Posted July 19, 2023 #9 Share Posted July 19, 2023 Happy (rainy here) Hump Day. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann. I like all 3 of today's days but especially Raspberry cake Day. This day in 1843 was a wonderful day for ocean travel. I've been to Devils Island at least 3 times, twice on Prinsendam and once on Maasdam. I like the quote but would prefer my chicken in some other form. My alternative is Sun Ripened Pineapple Delight, Mango Gaspacho, and Parmesan Crusted Turkey Tenderloin as served on MS Rotterdam VI July 19, 2011. Off soon for my usual Tuesday shipping which got delayed by yesterday's doctor visit. Roy 35
StLouisCruisers Posted July 19, 2023 #10 Share Posted July 19, 2023 Today we have the unique port of Devil's Island, French Guiana which is often included on the Amazon River cruises. It is located on the northeastern coast of South America. We arrived on Nov. 25, 2022 on Volendam and here is a first view from the tender boat. People there to greet you and sell you something. Pretty! Some of the ruins One of the monkeys we saw along our walk. Some of the buildings were accommodations for teachers or the school itself. A police station Church The abandoned prison hospital, still a nice building though. ruins of old cells It must have been stifling in there. Quartzsite Cruiser Posted July 19, 2023 #13 Share Posted July 19, 2023 (edited) A very early good morning from central Texas where the sun is just beginning to show its self. At 6 am it is 82F and feels like 88F with an 11mph breeze. Our high will be 107F again today, but yesterday, DH saw a high of 108F. Yes, it's a dry heat, but when it's above 100, it's still hot. This will be a busy early morning before it gets too hot. I need to get my walk in and a quick run to the store to pick up something that's on sale before they sell out. Then, we need to take the convertible over to the place where we had the front end aligned a couple of months ago. It has never been quite right since then. They said to bring it in and leave it, so they can look at it when they have time. DH suspects they did not tighten everything back down. If this doesn't work, then we'll need to take it to the dealership in Ft. Worth. New friends are always nice, and since we've been in central Texas for more than a year instead of traveling, I'm getting to know all our new neighbors. Today's quote is very true. The meal sounds good if someone else makes it. I'll pass on the drink, but would like to try the wine if it's not too pricey or elusive. We've been to Devil's Island twice, once on Noordam III in pre-digital days, and once on Princess. @marshhawk Annie, I hope Chuck @catmando has a safe trip home and was able to get an earlier flight. Quartzsite Cruiser Posted July 19, 2023 #14 Share Posted July 19, 2023 We've been to Devil's Island twice. The first time was in 1999 on Noordam III and the second was in 2006 on the old Regal Princess. The 1999 pictures are pre-digital, so these are from 2006. You cannot actually visit Devil's Island, the smallest of the three islands. It was the isolation camp for a handful of political prisoners. The main prison was on Salvation Island. cat shepard Posted July 19, 2023 #16 Share Posted July 19, 2023 (edited) Thank you for today’s R & D, Rich! Another lovely morning here. We had lots more rain yesterday, but at least the evening T-storm was not as wild as Monday’s. The local herd was out for breakfast this morning. I stopped counting at 15 deer. It is nice to see the bucks out with their families. Vanessa congrats on the good test results! Thank you for sharing our happenings. Haircut, pedicure, Bindi walks & chores will keep me busy. If I am lucky a visit to my local wine bar with friends. Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Get well & stay well everyone! ********** Mount Edward Pinot Noir Central Otago Morrison Vineyard 2019 Well this New Zealand wine has a couple of distributors that will ship worldwide and has rave reviews from consumers and critics. Perhaps the word will start getting out, and it will become more available. The best price I found online was $44.55 + shipping. Winemaker’s notes Morrison Vineyard, so complex and rewarding. Always with beautiful upfront aromatics, high tones with red to darker fruits and a delicate yet persistent structure. In 2019 we see herbal and savoury aromatics intertwined with the darker fruits, a lovely sinewy texture carried by long and fine tannins. Morrison is located in the Pisa sub region and will without question reward cellaring. Edited July 19, 2023 by cat shepard 23 7

Rare ottahand7 Posted July 19, 2023 #18 Share Posted July 19, 2023 Good morning everyone. Thanks for the Daily reports Rich. I would love Raspberry Cake and don't recall ever having it. We may meet some new friends tonight. We are going out to a chef's table at a distant barbeque restaurant. One night a week he does something else from his previous cooking life. I would love to pay Scrabble with someone. I played a Facebook version of the game with a friend and her words were the most uncommon she was either absolutely brilliant or using the Google machine to come up with her words. Life events ended it which was a good way to end it. Pass on the chicken, Sloe gin fizzes were one of the first cocktails I drank. Pass on the rare Pinot Noir. We have been to Devil's Island but we didn't get Yellow Fever vaccinations that were mandatory so we stayed onboard. Prayers for all on our Care list and the people of Ukraine. Have a wonderful day. Rare Crazy For Cats Posted July 19, 2023 #19 Share Posted July 19, 2023 Good Morning Everyone, thanks for today's daily fleet report. Before it gets too hot I mowed half of the lawn. I took a break to cool off since it's too humid and will finish before my meetings start. I still play words, just not as much lately. I hope everyone has a good Wednesday. 33
RMLincoln Posted July 19, 2023 #20 Share Posted July 19, 2023 Wet morning here inMD. And not enough sleep. Oh well. My bone density report was short, I guess stable but still below norm. Busy yesterday looking at gifting a honeymoon cruise for DGD, December 16 wedding in TX. Also looked at October New England/Canada cruises for us but no decisions. Slow progress in other parts of life. Counting down to eye surgery August 1, staying away from people. So far so good. Will skip my next couple of group gatherings, tonight and Monday. Staying in, plenty to do going through some boxes to see if I can reduce belongings a little more. Blessings to all struggling near and far. Especially Chuck, tough days! Cheers to all celebrating! Great that Ivan is happy again! Maureen. 29
Rare kazu Posted July 19, 2023 #21 Share Posted July 19, 2023 Thanks for our Hump Day Daily, Rich. Nice collection of days. Would love to make a new friend. Too soon for raspberries here but raspberry cake sounds refreshing. I like the Ray Bradbury quote. Seems appropriate with one of his books. The meal sounds good. Looking forward to @dfish recipes. Busy day - waiting for the guys to show up to do the work. They were supposed to be here at 8:30. Just showed up so the rest of my post got stalled. Rainy, misty, muggy and later hot and humid. Looks like we are doomed with hot and humid for a few days. Happy to hear @JazzyV Vanessa had good results 👍 Prayers for those on the Care list, those suffering losses and health challenges & those that need them. Cheers to all those celebrating 🥂 Have a great Wednesday, everyone. 38
aliaschief Posted July 19, 2023 #22 Share Posted July 19, 2023 Good morning. Daughter and family will be arriving early afternoon. Frustrating evening last night as I saw a clothing item on-line that appealed to me and when I purchased it I soon had multiple transactions. So called bank, my card has been cancelled and new card will arrive Friday. First time this has happened in a long time. Fortunately, I caught it in time.🤬 The ribs have been absorbing my homemade dry rub since ten AM yesterday and we will start the cooking process early afternoon. Baby Back ribs so shorter cooking time. Granddaughter has already requested corn on the cob as a side dish. So bring on Lana Jane and Artemis Jade for special times.❤️❤️ Thanks for the Fleet Report and special feature post. Good hearing from all of you every day.
