You can still disconnect and stay away from the rest of the world with a cell phone in your pocket.  I use mine for a camera.  And obviously the MDR menu.  And an alarm clock.  Sometimes music that I have in my phone's storage.  Doesn't mean you have to catch up on what's going on back home or "in real life".

We put our phones on airplane mode and just the hub app and camera, Stil unplugged from life off the ship

My pet peeve is more about the fellow passengers.  I hate when people ignore all the announcements to do the muster drill.  On our last cruise there was a group of people who decided they didn't need to do it, and they kept having to announce it every 10 minutes.  They came out and said the ship wasn't going anywhere until every last person checked in, and people STILL took their sweet time going to their muster station.  It's just rude.

It helps reduce stragglers now that the bars won't serve you after a certain time if you've not mustered. Muster is so easy now though - just report to a station marked on your boarding pass for a short demo, get boarding pass scanned, and go.

I have a few:

I miss actual tablecloths in the main dining rooms and feel like made the dining experience feel more elevated.

I’ve never enjoyed the servers dancing during service.  Half of them seem to enjoy it but the other half clearly…… do not.  For me, it is painful to watch.

I wish they had better late night food options.

Last month on Sunshine I noticed tablecloths were missing altogether in the MDR (Last time I cruised carnival the had them on elegant nights. No really anything I miss, but just something I noticed

No pet peeves that I can think of as I've always enjoyed my CCL cruises. I think there should be a strip joint on board like Vegas...😅🤪😝

I mean there kinda used to be. When I first started cruising Carnival the old Fantasy class ships (probably others but those were what sailed out of Tampa at the time) still had the topless deck up by the funnel.

Whether or not the experience was worth it: that's for the fan to decide.

I love the MDR show. It comes after the main course has been served and you have a few minutes to finish up or digest before dessert.  It's maybe 5 minutes and so fun!

Perhaps that’s the case in the fixed-time dining room.  In the my-time dining room, all of the tables are getting their main courses at different times, so the show could happen at any point in the service…

People who make ZERO effort to research a topic here on CC that's been discussed a freakin' thousand times and expect an answer AGAIN. There are many regular members who try hard to provide valuable guidance, especially to newbies. But seeing the same d@mn question week after week after week gets annoying. There's a search function, people!

Rant over.

I agree with you to an extent, but the search function on CC is really useless.   A Google search is much more helpful.

Agreed.  These days if I need information about a cruise related topic I get it from either Reddit or I Google.

Back to pet peeves; the toilet paper. We now have toilet paper on our trip check list of things to bring. I really should swap rolls with them and bring back theirs to use as finishing sandpaper on furniture projects.

Please don't do that.  Their tp sucks because regular tp will damage the pipes.

As someone with Crohn’s I truly wish they could use better toilet paper but the thin scratchy stuff is necessary for the on board plumbing systems.  If you do bring your own, please make sure you aren’t flushing it.

Perhaps we should ask @ObstructedView2 how they manage to quickly find older threads to link to a repeated question.  They don't seem to have much trouble finding what they need.

That is actually an Urban myth and is not correct. You can use normal toilet paper. What you can NOT throw into the toilet is wet wipes.

Would you mind sharing a creditable source for this information?

Comedians who don’t know how to be funny for the early showtimes.  Based on my last 4 cruises, it is apparent that these comedians only know how to perform in the 18+ shows:  However, they are under contract to also do family sets but most are not up to the task.

Hey @staceyglow🙂

How are you? My method of locating older threads that have already been created, in my effort in (Helping) any member that I possibly can, via the helpful (comments) that may be in that older or even recently created thread, is quite simple.

But its just not about locating older threads/topics. That's only a teenie tiny minute slice. The bigger picture is searching all sorts of defined searches that can assist or help answer someone's question.

Mainly, Its About The Ability To Search Anything & Everything On Cruise Critic. Threads going back years, months or weeks are extremely easily found.

Also topics & articles created by Cruise Critic writers & staff can be searched & located. So many people forget these exist. Tons of valuable information is right here on Cruise Critic already created by writers & staff members.

But you're inquiring about locating older threads created by members on Cruise Critic.

I use Google or other search engines to (Search Cruise Critic Itself). Along with a lot of semi colons and a lot of various word switching. I never use the search feature here. Results are terrible.

Topic example, (let's use Hairdryers)

I'll go to Google & type in:

Cruise Critic: Carnival: Hairdryers

Results, click below

(Click Here) Cruise Critic Posts - Carnival Hairdryers

Any Cruise Critic topic (Can Be Searched), just not easily on Cruise Critic, LOL! It's best & easiest to search Cruise Critic using a search engine instead of its own search feature.

It doesn't have to be just Carnival, it HAS to be Cruise Critic.

Cruise Critic: Celebrity: Hair Dryers

Cruise Critic: Princess: Hair Dryers

Cruise Critic: Royal Caribbean: Hair Dryers

This topic/thread, as well. Go to Google & type in:

Cruise Critic: Carnival: Pet Peeves

Cruise Critic: Royal Caribbean: Pet Peeves

Any Cruise Critic topic, any Cruise lines.

Cruise Critc: Royal Caribbean: Door Slammers

Cruise Critic: Carnival: Door Slammers

Cruise Critic: Celebrity: Door Slammers

Cruise Critic: Carnival: Cheers Package

Cruise Critic: Princess: Drink Program

Cruise Critic: Royal Caribbean: Bathroom Outlet

Cruise Critic: Aruba: Reviews

Cruise Critic: Aruba: Excursions

And so on & so on.... The search possibilities & results ARE ALMOST ENDLESS...

So sorry I rambled. Take care @staceyglow🙂

What you describe is pretty much a common thing for all forums.  I belong to one that actually discourages answering with search for it type responses.  I like the idea of either answering the question, providing a link to earlier helpful threads, or perhaps suggesting key search words.  What I think should be avoided is making a poster feel unwelcome or that their question is an irritation to the group.  Just my two cents.

I know this will make some people mad, but this happens everywhere. I swear some middle-aged women have a comfort in standing in the doorways or any other spot that blocks traffic in the grocery stores. No consideration for other people.

Yup !!! It's gotten to the point that this happens at least twice every other day on a cruise (usually teens 16-17 yoa, walking VERY slowly, 6-7 abrest  almost linking arms, and IF they sense you're trying to step around then, they'll move over to block you and laugh. I guess it's a joke to them. wonder if it'll be funny to them when they're twenty or thirty years old ?

I didn't read all 6 pgs, so this might have been mentioned.  No bar soap in cabins, no soap dispenser near sink.  You have to reach into the shower for soap which is a pain if your cabin mate just happens to be in the shower. At least install a small soap dispenser near sink if no bar soap.

Terrible blackjack players!  I find more folks playing badly (often because they are HAMMERED) in the Carnival casinos than elsewhere.  There are certainly atrocious players on land, too, but with many more available tables in land casinos, the chance of being stuck with one (or more) of them is lower.

As a bad blackjack player can you explain this one to me? Is it because they are taking too long or taking too much of the dealer's attention, or just because they are annoying.
