Coastal kitchen, Access

Does anyone know what the new rules are for Pinnacles to access coastal kitchen?

There are no new “rules” but they may impose caps on access to the lounge or tighter dinner reservation opportunities if there are too many Pins onboard.

From the updated Crown and Anchor Benefit sheet

9_Access to Coastal Kitchen is reserved exclusively for guests staying in qualifying Suites. Pinnacle Club members also have the opportunity to enjoy meals in Coastal Kitchen, subject to availability. Daily reservations are required and can only be made with the Maître d’ once onboard. In situations where the number of eligible Suite & Pinnacle Club guests on a particular sailing exceeds the intended venue capacity, access for Pinnacle Club members will be restricted to the top guests onboard, as determined by their cruise points, and extended to the occupants of their stateroom. The exact number of top guests who receive access will be determined on a per-sailing basis, depending on the venue’s capacity. Eligible Pinnacle Club members will be notified of their access on the first day of the cruise. 10_Pinnacle Club members may enjoy breakfast daily at a specialty restaurant. Location varies by ship, is subject to change, and will be communicated to members once onboard

None that I'm aware of. I have "heard" that if over a certain number on a cruise access to CK is either limited or not allowed and other arrangements are made. We just got back from Allure and P's (40) were allowed in CK for all meals

Agree.

That "certain number" or threshold seems to be different on each ship, sailing, and HD.

On Symphony now...134 P's...allowed to eat lunch and dinner at CK.

* Breakfast at Chops.

On Harmony 2 weeks ago . Only 46 Pinnies onboard . From everything I had been reading , I expected it to be higher.

Maybe It's because they knew Super Mario would be onboard

In the past year, we have found that Pinnacles  are often  limited to two CK dinners per cruise. Lunch is on an available basis, and breakfast is not allowed in CK.

When the Pinns are excluded for breakfast do they provide a specialty restaurant for breakfast ?

yes - typically Chops on Oasis class ships. .  We are happy with that. In fact, that is our preference.

Currently on SY. Coming Sunday starts the TA. Pins excluded from CK, lounge and suite/Pin sun deck. 30 highest Pins are allowed access to CK to include their possible non status companions in same cabin. Breakfast for Pins in Chops. No more 3 dinner/CK. Also it is confirmed that from the Pin count, Pins in suites are not subtracted, all casino masters have full access to CK and lounge as do the Junior suites. So all in all the priority is as follows:

1. suite guests unrestricted

2. Masters with no C&A status unrestricted

3. Junior suites unrestricted

4. Pins when below the threshold of approximately 100, restricted. Substituition for Pins: Dazzles lounge

This is our experience on the Anthem this week.  They specifically told us(we are in a JS) that if we are not going to eat at the CK, to let them know so that a Pinnacle passenger could take our place.

So since we always sail in suites, we potentially bump Pins with more points than us from the lounge and CK?

Funny....but IMHO...no. 😄   As far as I know, we are no longer in their radar as Pinnacles.  They see us as we actually are...suite guests.  😉

On our B2B on Mariner, the waiter in the suite lounge still wanted to take my gold card so it could be swiped at the bar. He didn't seem to comprehend that as a suite guest all he needed from the card was our suite number. BTW, one of the best perks of sailing in a full suite - we can get chips from room service at no cost. DW ordered two bags every evening we dined in suite😎

Yeah, they are always doing that with us as well.  Happened a lot of Harmony, and they also dogged us right away on Wonder this last time to change out the cards.

But they still charged our drinks to the vouchers.  Ughh...but as long as it did not go over six and we were not charged in actuality...I let it go.

Sure. And that is the way it should be. In fact, there is no reason to provide any CK reservations for Pins. If they want access to the suites facilities, then they can book a suite. Otherwise, eat with steerage.

Wow. I totally disagree.  I have enjoyed the CK for my entire 15N cruise, but I also feel that Pinnacles have every right to be there.  We have eaten there several nights on the Anthem and there are always plenty of empty tables and we have 109 Pinns onboard.  Pinnacles have been cruising for several years and spent a lot of money with Royal, they all deserve a plate at the table.

That's one way to look at it

So junior suite guests have priority over pinnacles?  Never heard that before.  Weird!

Weird, but true.  We experienced that October 15th arriving on the Anthem.

Guess I’ll have to show this to the Loyalty ambassador later. Currently on the mariner.

When I when I told her I had seen that junior suite would have priority over pinnacles she shook her head and said that’s not accurate.  That that was something she had never seen in the past or had heard was coming in the future.

So I’ll show her your comment later on up in the lounge and ask her to follow up with Miami.  Thanks!

Junior Suites do have priority over Pinnacles for dinner only at CK when full suites haven't taken all of the dinner reservations. Junior Suites cannot access CK or the Suite Lounge at any other times. It is a published benefit of Sea Class.  If Pinnacles are allowed access, they can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at CK along with full all day access to the Suite Lounge. There are very few benefits to Sea Class and Junior Suites are considerably more expensive than other lower cabin categories.  I feel that Pinnacles have great access to the amenities unless it is a top tier heavy cruise.  Not weird at all.
