camper49 Posted December 9, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2023 If we book with the standard rate, once on board can we upgrade/purchase Plus? Costs? What is the cost of just the drink package? Ty

Would only get a drink package with plus or premier
skynight Posted December 9, 2023 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2023 The Plus package is $60/pp/day. Premier package is $80/pp/day. Both include a beverage package, wifi, the daily crew gratuity and other benefits. Details are in the reference shown below. If one person in the cabin purchases these inclusive fares then the 2nd person must also purchase. The stand alone alcoholic beverage package is $100.29 for the Premier package and $76.69 for the plus package. There are likely very limited conditions, I can't think of any, where purchasing a stand alone package makes sense. A stand alone package is individual. One cabin occupant may have the package and the other not have the package.

It's a good value for some, but not for me. I don't drink any of those drinks on any cruise and I don't do fitness classes on a cruise either. 8

No it is not if you do not use all those to any extent. We do not get mocktails, sparkling water, juice bar and do not take fitness classes. Only drink maybe W or 3 coffees on at sea days.

Plus is not a good value for everybody, as you stated. Plus is a great value for a lot of cruisers. We notice most of the Blue and Gold have drinks in hand and are enjoying the plus packages. They're the future of cruising for years to come. You don't need to drink alcohol to find that Plus is a good value. Princess, if you're listening, you should really eliminate the standard option, like they've done on the world cruise, and build some type of Standard Plus into the fare. If Princess eliminates the Standard option many will cruise on other linesJust because a person has a drink in hand DOES NOT mean they have the plus package. Again it is a good value for some but not all. Edited December 10, 2023 by Potstech

What is the cost of just the drink package? Ty Don't even think about buying a standalone beverage package. Terrible value. Either buy the cruise fare package or go Standard. If you wait to buy Plus/Premier fare package on board, you can use any OBC to pay part of the cost. And, if you insure your trips, you save insurance on the package cost since you don't buy it until on the ship. Also, consider if you are booking with a discounting TA as you can pay less than $60/$80 if book in advance.
aussiecruiser275 Posted December 10, 2023 #24 Share Posted December 10, 2023 we go standard - but over a week of cruising we will go through about 2 to 3 bottles of wine over a 7 day cruise between the two of us in the restaurant which we purchase and being elite there is 50% off wifi . We have no use for fitness classes, juice bar and drinking like fish out of water so we see no value in the plus or premier package. 5
