travel to ASIA - squat toilets are very common, even in touristy places.

Yep, I ran into some in Japan last year.

Haven't seen any in Europe for a while now.

IMO being able to go to the bathroom is a human right.

So is having a roof over your head and bread on the table. Neither of those basic human rights are free either.

In my Navy days I saw many small seaport tavernas, bistros and cafes (many titled Kit Kat Club) around the Mediterranean;  not only were toilet seats often missing - there were frequently no toilets - just a hole in the floor between two raised, corrugated, footprint-shaped platforms on which to balance, while holding loosened trousers above the floor.

So true.

These days, pax are generally insulated from many of our less than stellar experiences when visiting many of the World's ports. In my Merchant Navy days, having to pay was such a non-issue compared to other experiences.

Some bars had liberal quantities of sawdust on the deck, which I will leave up to the imagination as to the reason.

This surely sounds like political advocacy - which is not supposed to take place on CC.

I reported the post to the moderator.

Talk about a thread going off topic. Originally about crew eating in the buffet to going #1 & #2.😎

Of course roaming “stream of consciousness” writings are far more interesting for the reader than strictly focused travel comments written by highly subjective, often functionally illiterate, posters.

Schools? Highways? And countless other things.

And when were you in SF? I've not seen that at all.

Those things are not rights.  They are public goods.

As for the need for galoshes, it is well documented.

And when were you there????

What does that have to do with anything?  I can read.  I can see videos.  I can see that the city itself publishes a human waste map.

I also don't need to go to Fargo ND in January to know it snows there.

Okay.. Than just share a video. Cause I and my many friends there don't see it. And they're not 'afraid' to go all over the city.

Hey, thanks for that. You may not have seen that it's improved significantly. And I wonder how much is dog poop. I sure see a lot of that around.
