what's currently provided in cabins?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I chose to post a question rather than search as the search function can be finicky and I know this info changes ship to ship and over time.

I think the days of getting a welcome basket with a razor, lotion, etc are gone, right?

I haven't sailed Royal in a few years.  What's currently included in a basic cabin?  Specifically i'm meaning hygiene and beauty items.  I recall needing my own conditioner in the past, but not shampoo.  Also, is there still a blow dryer? Is it adequate for basic hair styling? I don't need glamour and I prefer to pack light. That being said, we are going on a specialty cruise where I will want to get slightly glammed most evenings.

We will be on the Mariner in an inside cabin with promenade view if this matters.

Thank you in advance.

There are dispensers in the shower with shampoo and body wash.

Yes.

Nothing else unless other than a few items related to your C&A status.

There is a blow dryer. It appears that they are being upgraded as needed, and the new one is great.

Bar soap at the bathroom sink, multi-use gel in the shower.

Unfortunately, I cannot stand the smell of the "new" products they provide. Strong coconut fragrance.  So, I take my White Citrus products with me in travel cosmetic pouches. Nutaki Travel essentials is the name on Amazon. I found the large pouch was more than enough for 2 weeks.

If you use conditioner you will definitely want to bring you own.  No guarantee they can get some for you as it's not a standard item offered.

The blow driers are the cheap hotel variety and will get the job done but will take a while.  We bring our own but it did trip the breaker on the Quantum class ships once.  Our fault...  If you do bring one, I suggest the low heat setting and full fan setting as the heat is what uses the most energy in a hairdryer, not the fan.

They have basis shampoo/body wash combo in the shower

To me, the blow dryers suck.  I take my own toiletries and my own blow dryer to any cruise, hotel, or resort as I want my stuff with me.

I don't remember "welcome baskets" with razors, lotion, etc.  And I've been here a looong time.

Expect in a standard Royal Caribbean cabin:

- A safe

- A TV

- A large container of all-in-one shower product.  It's fine body wash, and it's good for washing out a blouse in the sink, but ladies will want their own shampoo.  And conditioner.

- A bar of soap at the sink.

- Plenty of towels and washcloths

- A blow dryer at the dresser /desk, which I find perfectly acceptable.

- Kleenex and toilet paper

- Life jackets

- A small cooler (looks like a refrigerator but isn't really a refrigerator)

- Forms for ordering room service breakfast

Things you can request from your cabin steward:

- Extra blankets or pillows

- Bath robes

Things you might be used to finding in hotel rooms that you'll NOT FIND in a Royal Caribbean cabin:

- Memo paper and pen

- Lotion

- Coffee pot and supplies

Kleenex is provided.  I’ve had to ask once when it wasn’t.

And it is now in the main cabin drawer, not the bathroom slot, due, I believe, to people using it for toilet paper and clogging the toilet system.

Cooler/refrigerator only in certain levels of cabins.

Really? I have had one in every cabin.... inside and above. Are you saying certain ships don't provide to all?

Yes, Vision class.

OK. Interesting. I have been on both Vision and Enchantment and they provided.

Thanks for the info.

On Enchantment you

might have one in the cabins in the stretch section of the ship. On Vision it would be unusual if you had one in an inside cabin.

I was on Enchantment post-stretch and remember people without a/c, due to some issue,

sleeping in the halls and other places (we were not impacted), but I don't recall being on a cruise without the cooler/refrig in the room. Lucky, perhaps ,or faulty memory, ha.

Thanks.

Some with some history, like @Merion_Mom can say if/when they were removed or if there were ever there. They are certainly not there now.

Add on, April, 2023, I can quote you the room. I did not even have ice for two days after requesting it on the first day and I posted it on CC.

The Enchantment of the Seas in April of 2023 was one of the ships at the time which had turned off the ability to get ice from the Unlimited Soda Machines.  My goodness, all I was trying to do was get some ice and it was a journey.

This is why I distinctly remembering it so well.

I made a very heated response in my Royal questionnaire.

Since then, the soda machine have been distributing ice on my last November 2023 cruise on the Jewel.
