IDK. @EspritYou just have to get back on and tell us. 😆 I would ask the cabin steward, if I couldn’t get it off. So annoying. I’m packing painters tape and electrical. Thank you for the Live! Nice of you. Edited August 25 by PacnGoNow
Rare NMTraveller Posted August 25 #179 Share Posted August 25 Do they have pickleball on board?

There is a limited recreational court with ping pong and shuffleboard but not the same facilities as the other ships due to the Park19 installation - which will be removed as it never became fully operational.

Esprit Posted August 26 Author #182 Share Posted August 26 So the two light switches are for the bathroom ceiling lights and the mirror light. The offending night light is under the sink shelving. We were in a deluxe balcony cabin btw, so suites maybe be different! I asked the cabin steward to neutralise it, but he said for safety reasons it wasn’t allowed. Unlike the ceiling light we had on Regal Princess with the sensor to tape over, here’s a picture of the light outside the bathroom door. PS thanks for all the kind acknowledgements. 2

They have Steak Frites for Mains = not much for Starters though. The Sun has a reduced menu compared to the other ships. You can order a scallop appetizer at the Crown Grill, but I don’t see any scallops on The Catch menu… I hope this small menu changes.

It's close to the cruise terminal, but slightly off track. Maybe that's the reason why I saw the CD and fellow Ent's staff in there both times we were in Naples.

Esprit Posted August 27 Author #197 Share Posted August 27 So here’s my review of this cruise. Yes, I would definitely sail on Sun Princess again. It was a refreshing change from the Grand and Royal class ships. The best bits The deck 9 outside areas with the comfortable seating, Bars, Grill, and Pizzeria. It was never busy and a relaxing place to sit, drink and eat any time of the day, unlike the Eatery a few feet away which was manic, so I avoided it like the plague. The entertainment was first class, be it in the Dome, Arena, Princess Live lounge or in the Piazza. Full marks to Corinne the CD and her team. They were everywhere and worked really hard. I’m sure Corinne is AI generated. She was flawless. Food in the MDR on deck 6 was very good. Perhaps the best I’ve had on any cruise and with plenty of choices. I must have my food hot (which is another reason for avoiding the Eatery) and once I asked for it hot, it did indeed get served to me very hot. The wake view and sunset opportunities through the large open plan windows was a nice bonus. Special mention goes to the Teppanyaki restaurant. It was an amazing experience. My favourite bars were the Sun bar to people watch, and the Cascade bar for some peace and quiet out of the sun. The Sea view bar was good too but got hot even with the glass panelling to offer some shade. Bellini’s was another favourite as it was right next to the Piazza. Perfect for a pre-dinner drink and to watch the entertainment going on after dinner. Having the Princess Live lounge so close to Piazza was great too. You could check what was going on within seconds from Bellini’s. When I wasn’t drinking! The Dome was ideal to have a lie down if you could find a lounger. The pool in it was a nice size too. The only issue with the Dome was that you had to vacate it by 4 pm if a show was on in it that evening. Finally, I would have to say the technical wizardry is mind blowing. The lighting and visual effects in the Arena, Dome and Piazza are impressive. The Dome even converts into an authentic night club from 11.45 pm until 2 am. The not so good! Overall, the temperature around the ship was quite high. Never did my wife require a wrap in the evenings. The queue for the Cirque shows in the Dome were horrendous. You could definitely smell smoke through the forward stair well coming from the Casino on deck 8. We were on deck 15 and my wife could still smell it. The Guest Services location right next to the deck 6 lifts is a joke. Queues had to form in front of the lifts and there was no dedicated line for Elite passengers to the Elite desk. This caused a lot of angst from those queueing when you appear to line jump just to stand close to the Elite desk. The Crooners bar is a disappointment as the noise from the Piazza is still very audible. The Wheelhouse bar is now a complete non-event. We were always in it aboard Emerald Princess and was one of our favourite bars. Another old favourite was Sabatini’s, but not any more on Sun Princess. Whilst the food was good the place isn’t worth the $49 supplement. The International Café location is wrong. It’s now by the walk through on deck 9 to the Eatery. With so many coffee drinkers waiting for their orders it’s a mess! Also, on deck 9 you must pass by the Cabana deck cabins from the forward stair well to get to the Piazza. It is therefore a very busy passage way. Lastly, we were so disappointed with O’Malleys. Given all the hype we managed to get great seats early. After 15 minutes we walked out. The Irish band were a miserable bunch. If they were enjoying themselves then they should let their faces know! There is something else I will mention about the ship in another post later including a picture! 1

Esprit Posted August 28 Author #199 Share Posted August 28 Hopefully some on my pictures showed the ship’s wonderful decor. It still looks fresh and new but I do wonder about the quality of the fixtures, fittings and furniture. In one lift the hand rail end plate fell off when I touched it. In another lift a hand rail was no longer firmly secured and wobbled. I also noticed a burn hole on one of the cushions on that nice furniture I mentioned on deck 9. The cabin fittings definitely have an IKEA look and feel. We even had one of the door contact light switches in the wardrobe not working as it had stuck in the closed position. As you can see in the picture the wall laminate is coming away already! I suspect the cabin corridor walls will not survive well with suitcases and trolley carts hitting them either. With the ship in just six months service I reckon it will begin to look tired quite quickly unfortunately. 2
Esprit Posted September 1 Author #200 Share Posted September 1 I’ve just remembered I took this video as the sphere glass is really impressive. The light it provides to all three Piazza decks is a clever idea and really energises it. IMG_8014.mov 1
