tscoffey Posted August 21 #76 Share Posted August 21 (edited) It was curious how the author stated (and I paraphrase), “while I would have loved the teen club as a kid, it doesn’t necessarily appeal to me as an adult in my late 20’s”. I would certainly hope not, otherwise we’re treading very close to serious boundary issues on a cruise. Edited August 21 by tscoffey
cruisegus Posted August 21 #77 Share Posted August 21 (edited) Just an observation based on what I have read here, on the other 2 big Royal forms and my FB groups. It is not the Diamond or D+ that will be making the jump to X, as not much question, especially if you drink alcohol at all, Royal is much better. Not many of them want a 2 hour slam it window, like Royal used to have. Making the jump will be Pinnacles as already witnessed in the reports that I've been following, at the Zenith Lunchon most times the P's have been out numbering the true Zenith by around 2 to 1. Not much question, except for the possibility of Costal Kitchen (Suite Restaurant) which is now numerically controlled, which X does not offer, all the rest of the Zenith benifits are much better. But then I think that was Royals plan all along to off load Pinnacles and open the cabins to more family who historical have a larger on-board spend. We sailed Royal a couple years ago and was surprised at how great the drink vouchers were. We had some good quality cocktails, at any lounge, at any time and wine with dinner. We did not spend any money on drinks for that cruise. On Celebrity we have had a drink package every cruise for the last 9 years. The Elite happy hour has became worthless for us. I would really like to see Celebrity match the Royal program or maybe they could upgrade my drink package to premium so I can get a craft cocktail or better glass of wine. I also was really impressed with the entertainment on Royal. In the end Celebrity is still the cruise line of choice for this 65 year old. Just my opinion, for what its worth. I am laughing my butt off at some of the so called “high brow” Celebrity passengers who think that they cruise on a luxury line when in reality it’s a mass market line and their worried about having to rub elbows with the less common folk of Royal Caribbean. Some need to get over themselves. They are only special in their own minds. Hi, LOVE your comments! Totally AGREE!! We became elite on Celebrity first but actually liked Royal better as Diamond+ (entertainment, benefits, diamond lounge etc). We found that more Celebrity guests enjoy wearing their tuxedos, gowns, bling etc. as compared to RCL.We don't go on a cruise to show off! We go on cruises to to visit new destinations, travel across the oceans (TA and TP's), enjoy food that we don't need to cook etc. and see excellent entertainment. We are NOT upset with kids on board or upset with a man wearing shorts at dinner!

I specifically cruise Celebrity because I am NOT required to wear a tuxedo or “bling”. But I also don’t care to see backwards baseball caps or tshirts or flip flops at dinner. It’s not hard to dress like an adult. 2

Hi, My wife and I really liked our Cunard cruises. We did many TA's on Cunard and liked each one. Beats flying! Positives: Great food (esp fish and chips) and great services. Excellent entertainment. Especially RADA group. Great trivia. HARD. 3/10 correct often won! Negative: I had to buy a BLACK suit to eat in the dining room. A different color or jacket was a no admission. Luckily Walmart had cheap one!! The dogs were the first to get on board the ship. Paraded in front of us while we waited in the terminal (true story but I wasn't upset. I threw that in as a JOKE that I will always remember!). 1
